Mission: Meet the Council
MISSION INFORMATION
The KOKOL has to pull off a couple tasks in order to curry favor with the Council of Loathing

The debut of the 'duel subquest' mission, the first of three. Believed to be the last time we'll see Feena and Riko in a mission.. Shamus really comes into his own in this one.. Catrina gets her gifts.. and more!!

These spoiler pages are a pain to get off due to the unique page format, and the number of posts I have to 'copy' here.
Let's see if I can get it right.
You'll again take note of the SubQuest format, please. Meaning players had to choose for each AIL character which of the two missions they'd be on. If a co write or Live RP (Though they didn't exist at this point yet) were to have characters from different missions, that piece should be titled "Crossover" or "Crossovers." There were a few of those here!
But hell, I said most of that in the mission notes. The Finale took a lil too long to write, but was more than worth the wait, in my biased opinion.
The mission notes look a lil long and repetitive. Sorry.       Highlights of the mission include a fun interruption on the Cat and Dash fun, getting help from Funki (Konall) on the mission finale, splitting

Mission notes #1

Hi, everyone!

I'll be posting the new mission here *Very soon,* but I had a little information to share on it before...

Catrina and I have been planning something very special for this next mission. It's unique for a couple of reasons. First of all, we're building towards our very first Season Finale! I don't want to give away too many details, but suffice it to say, we've got some big plans for the next three missions. Following the next three missions, we'll have our first ever Season Finale! We're planning to make that as big as possible.. a defining moment in AIL's history!

Since we expect this to carry us into the early months of 2009, we're considering having a "break" after the Finale.. so everyone can get their new applications ready.. enjoy a little time without missions to roleplay for.. and basically get ready for Season 2!

That's a long way off.. For the next mission, we'll be using a special game mechanic- you'll see more details in Rollover.

The next mission introduces "Tasks." There'll be two "Tasks" per mission. You'll have to choose which task each character is going on.. *AND* you'll need to remember to put the name of the Task at the beginning of your roleplay! (Either the title or the comment..) There'll only be one Rollover, but each Task is going to get it's own Finale.. (So basically, there'll be two sets of Finales.. probably two parts each.)

Example.. if you decided to take place in a mission called The Hunt (which is likely to be close to on money, by the way), your roleplay title should look something like..

(The Hunt) - Meet Mr Zombie!
The Hunt- Meet Mr. Robot!

Or something similar.. alternately, you could put it at the start of the comment.. example.

The Hunt - Feena meets up with a ninja!
(The Hunt) - Catrina meets up with a pirate!

Eh.. you get the idea, right?

Remember, *each* AIL character can only be a part of "One" Task.. so focus on the goal of your mission! However, co writes between people in separate missions are still allowed.

Hope that helps! Ask any questions here..

Mission notes #2

[Hi, everyone! Rollover's up.. You'll be able to tell by it (and the note above) that this is a somewhat unique mission, thus the need for a different take on mission notes: There's this main mission note.. and two sub mission notes will follow: One per task. I'm doing the sub note for my Quest; Cat's doing one for hers.

[Speaking of Rollover.. Cat did pretty much every Blahking line there.. which I think is Cat's first time doing the character.. pretty well done, if I might add! Here's a couple of notes.. When it speaks of 'another clan,' there's a twofold meaning to this.

[There's another clan who may or may not debut in this mission. They're an actual clan from KOL whom I'm 'in negotiations' with. If you wish to use a NPC rival from a clan, feel free. We're highly encouraging use of rivals, but we'd prefer if they "represented" one of the guilds.. so we don't get player clans mixed up with NPC clans.. Please don't use AIL to slander an actual clan, of course, but beyond that, it's totally up to you how you go about things! As always- within reason.

[It's possible we might have so called 'solo'ists.. not associated with clans.. pop up during this.. PC or otherwise..]

NOTE! If you know a clan who might be interested in participating in AIL, let me know! We can even work with 'clans' from outside KOL although that might not be as easy.>

[Remember, each character picks *ONE* task which they'll participate in! As stated above.. if you're confused, reread the above post.. if you're still confused, post here or talk to me..

[Just to 'semi spoil,' the rewards will probably be based on the in game rewards.. whoever brings them the skull will get the belt.. and whoever brings them a mosquito will get that.. *However..* It should be 'given out' during roleplaying for the 'next' mission! Just to make the missions tie together better..

[Now down to the more in character part of the story!]

=-=-=-=-

(The following note will appear in the clan board, with the official information on this mission. There's two smaller notes attached below a main note.. The main sheet is slightly bigger, with in larger, bold print at the top which reads, "ADVENTURERS REQUIRED! CONTACT ANY KOKOL OFFICER OF THE RULING BODY FOR INFORMATION."

(Below that, in finer print, it reads..)

"Greetings, fellow Kingdom of KOL denizens.

"It brings me much joy to bring this news and opportunity to you. In cooperation with the Council of Loathing, the ruling body of the Kingdom of Loathing operating under His Worthy Royalness, King Ralph, request and require your assistance in two matters of the highest urgency.

Remember that proof of this victory should be presented to the Council as soon as possible, along with your official Kingdom of KOL identification. You can pick up a badge, pin, or ring identifying yourself, should you need one, at my offices during regular office hours.

You may be required to write up a ten page summery on your adventures. Rest assured, my offices are working hard to ensure that this part is purely optional and at your discretion, but be prepared for the possibility.

We anticipate the possibility of a rival clan being involved in these 'Tasks' as well. Please do your best to ensure there are no conflicts with them, as I've assured the Council we'll work with them to the best of our abilities. Of course, due to their official status as rivals, I believe we'd be best served in taking a polite but cautious approach towards this clan and doing our best to ensure we work together as it suits us. Ultimately, however, it must be a member of KOKOL who presents the information to the Council, at any and all costs.

At your discretion, of course.

Since we're actually looking to make it appear as if we're capable of working as a team, I've decided that we should have two separate people fulfilling each Task requirement. Pick your task, and get to work on it! Work together, but know to the one who fulfills the requirement goes the prize, and the recognition of the clan and the Council. These should be simple enough as long as there's no major complications- but let's be honest here.

There's always major complications.

(Below the letter is the official clan seal for the offices of Prince Blahking, as well as his signature.)

Task: Crypt Cleaners

(Contrasted to the fine, proper, easy to read print of the other too notes, this print is small to the point of being tiny, and somewhat hastily written. The note itself is covered in doodles and tiny pictures. There's a couple of random pawprints in ink, and something that looks like a candy potion stain.

(the words themselves aren't too hard to read once you get passed the size of them, though.. hereweGO!)

Hi! *Big smiley face* I'm Fluffy Hamster! *Bigger smiley face*

And the Prince *blah face with a crown* is making me do stuff again! *red frowny face*

But that's okay cause the notes *picture of a scroll looking thing* are really short! *smiley face- with a hamster tail this time*

We (I) did some research before we (I) had my secretary (read: my tail) write this out!

So you know me! *picture of a hamster with yellow that's supposed to be gold fur.. and z's coming out of him that stretch up the entire left side of the page* Never one to pass up going to check things out myself! *Lots of "ha" letters in a big circle* Besides, the King told me I had to go check it out in person! *picture of a hamster face with a frown.. although from the quality of art, it could very easily be a bat, a rat, or a Gunslinger King*

Someone's thrown up like, a dozen different magic shields! *pictures of graves with 'circles' around them meant to be a magic shield.. cause it's got sparklies* I bet it's from the Knob Goblin mages *Goblins SUX KOKOL RULZ!*

You might be able to sneak past them, or they might vanish when you get there, I dunno.

Oh and there's a lotta lotta LOT OF undead things there! *Pictures of a skeleton with stick arms and legs coming out* You can never spell them right, so don't even try unless you're magic or you didn't read this note... *stick picture of Raw Hide*.. Skeltons and Skeeltons and maybe even a skillitone! Ghouls of all shapes, and Lihcs and bigger lihcs.. Zmobies are the ugliest things ever, and they're there too! *This is all accompanied by a smorgasbord of 'scary' stick figure art*

Watch out for cursed jars, horrifically cliche logic puzzles, neverending mazes that lead to alternate dimensions *there's a 4 inch by 4 inch water painting in full color here for some reason.. to show how dangerous the other realities are* uhh... oh yeah, watch out for that other clan, they might try to trick us! *Angry hamster face*

You gotta be pretty sneaky to get the Bonerdagon to come out, then you gotta kill him! (I hear he can shatter your armor and items! Oh noez!) Just make sure you get the jump on him so he doesn't escape! But I'm pretty sure you won't be doomed to lose if you fight him alone! And there's absolutely no way he'd just fly away from the battle and take it to a new location.*hehe that's sarcasm, dummy*

So go and have fun! I hear the Council's gonna make the skull you gotta bring to them (Did I mention you gotta bring them the skull? I'm pretty sure I did) into something kewl!

Cool huh?!

*six pictures in a row of a fluffy hamster in various states of emotions, with the last one being "sleeping peacefully under a "Do nod Disturb* sign*

Take care! Fluffers

OOC again!

A couple of fun notes. You can fight the dargon during a rp, IF you save it to the end.. but you obviously can't defeat it during a rp! Remember that.. If you lose, it escapes, or something else happens.. (you might end your last rp with you on the defensive..) that's cool.

You could choose to fight the mini bosses instead or even make up your own mini boss.

Watch for other rp's so we don't end up with two different people destroying the same mini boss.. if it happens, no biggie.. and if no one else deals with the sub bosses first.. I'm sure we can write around that. Remember.. in the game itself, you usually have to defile the individual crypt sections.. (The Alcove, the Niche, the Cranny and the Nook) Meaning you have to defeat each individual boss. But again, this *IS* AIL, not KOL.. so use your own discretion on how you go about it!)

OH!! And it should be the Penguin Mafia who show up.. *not* the Knob Goblins! They're *elite* fighters, so if you are going to use them.. please remember to show them as serious threats.. as a rule of them.. even our top warriors should be in serious trouble against just a couple of them! On the other hand.. there won't be that many of them there at any time.. They should be capable of fighting you to a standstill, maybe even beating you..

Little note from the actual KOL game: If you try going to him before you beat the subbosses, you get this..

"As you near the Heart of the Cyrpt, the aura of defilement overpowers you, and you're forced to turn back. You're gonna have to completely undefile this joint, if you want to proceed."

Just so ya know!

Have fun with the mission.. I'm thinking we'll let you go 5-6 weeks or so for roleplaying.. so get some up! Dash..

Task: Larvae Hunters

TO: All KOKOL Members and Mercenaries. FROM: The Office of Prince Blahking RE: Spooky Forest  Quest

The Governing entity of the KOKOL (hereafter referred to as 'the Prince') has recently consulted with the Governing body of the Kingdom as a whole (Herafter referred to as 'the Council') and has been assigned certain Quests to be completed by the Clan). Said quests are to run consecutively, and proof of completion is to be delivered in person to the Council.

ATTENTION: This note concerns a QUEST given the KOKOL by the Council. Said quest is as follows: Find and deliver one (1) Mosquito Larva.

Location of Quest : Deep in the Heart of Spooky Forest. Access to quest area, as well as areas of travel to and from quest area, has been granted to all KOKOL members.

Action needed: 1) Travel to Spooky Forest 2) Search Spooky Forest 3) Defeat monsters and other obstacles in Spooky Forest 4) Obtain Larva 5) Deliver Larva to Council chambers

Reward: Council has agreed to reward successful completion of this Quest with one (1) Familiar-Gro Terrarium. Other rewards at Council discretion.

WARNING!: As stated above other Clans will be involved in this Quest. You are to work with the members of these other Clans but it is IMPERATIVE that KOKOL find and deliver the Larva!

Dangers of the Area: There are several naturally occurring dangers in the Spooky Forest area- from bars, to triffids, to mummys, vampires warwelf and their kin. Also to be remembered is that, although their base was not in this area, the Penguin Mafia outpost KOKOL recently raided is in the nearby vicinity, and members of that organization may be in the Spooky Forest area.

OOC notes:

This is a fairly straightforward mission, which gives you a lot of room to play around with the search. Fight the monsters, explore the forest, use the time to give your character depth.

One thing. The official information is that the Penguin Mafia is in the area, but if you should see any members of the Knob Goblins lurking about- even an Elite 7 member or two- don't hold back on bashing them!

Have fun!

Larvae Hunters RP Notes Intro
Posted by: Catrina Whiteclaw

Remember to please start your RP note with the "Task name!"

So for my mission..

Larvae Hunters: RP TITLE

That format..

Or Crossover: RP TITLE

Crossover specifically means a full co write between 2 more more people that aren't on the same mission.. You may or may not choose to classify this separately from having a person in a different mission make a small appearance in your roleplay and having it still associated with one mission.

IE.. Catrina and I wrote almost the whole thing together, despite the fact we'll be in separate missions, so it's a "Crossover."

IF Dash had only done a few lines in the rp then Catina had written the rest of it herself, it'd probably be listed under the mission she's doing- instead of being listed as a Crossover.

Does this make sense??

CROSSOVER- Interruptions

What does it TAKE to get a little PRIVACY around here?

Okay, like, Dash and I were kinda playin around at the Campsite, y'know? Well, it started out as playin but I got a bit carried away and, well..I was THAT close to making him my mate when some funky dude in a clown suit shows up.

Said he was some kind of Messenger or somethin' Whatever.

Although the Gift he brought me WAS kinda nice.

But anyway, he gives me this stuff- tells us there's a new mish at the Clan hall and poof! Gone!

I mean, what gives?

Crossovers: Mission achievement, Four Heroes: Who's going where?

Cowritten with the help of Sebastian Dash and Catrina Whiteclaw themselves.

We started off with Sebastian and Catrina arriving to see a crowd of people at the mission posting. At the front of the mess is Feena, a pastamancer and priestess of the FSM. A little behind it stood our myself, Riko. I talked to Sebastian and Catrina, then got to see Cat rescue Feena from the crowd. Very interesting.

Feena took off, then I got to talk to Sebastian and Catrina a bit about where we were going. The two seemed a bit amorous and argumentative, so I got ready for a tour, promised me by Sebastian.

Dash and Riko's Only
Posted by: Sebastian Dash

Mission: Meet the Council
Task: Larvae Hunters RP title: Dash's past.. Riko's tour

The story continues in the form of a crossover ((co write)) between our vet hero Sebastian Dash and the vagabond ex Roxzan royalty herself, Riko!

Looks like between the last bit, Dash decided to stop by the Dept of Shadowy Arts and Crafts to work on his swordsplay! There's a lil reflection going on, and Dash seems sure something has been 'off' with his trademark sword, Bad Beats, since it was mysterious fixed up in the last mission Finale! He also spots a familiar pair of people, obviously from his youth, although not much is said about them. Dash thinks of her as looking "as beautiful as Dash remembered, just - like Dash and the guy she was with- all grown up now."

Not much else is said there. Instead, we skip to Dash meeting up with Riko, to start that tour he'd promised her! We find some interesting things about the town in Dash's youth; he claims there used to be a convenience store (later expanded to become the Armory and Leggory, which is still a 'new' store currently), and a cola show in the summertime. Dash grew up somewhere around the tracks, long before they were build, or at least that's what's implied.

Dash mentioned it being where he learned to steal - 'mostly through observation.' Riko didn't like him mentioning theft in her presence- she brought up the incident where she first met him and he was accused of stealing from the Royal Treasury. After some arguing, Dash changed the subject.

They went to the Armory and Leggory to see if they had the Coral the ex Princess had asked about; no luck. Turns out the Shopkeep doesn't even know where Adrule is! The Riko didn't seem too thrilled about the idea of finding some down at the Beach, so with that, they set off on the Laurve mission!

Heh- kinda long notes for a rp that didn't even have a single fight!

Raw Hide found the penguins poking around as well as a few dead adventurers. He got bitten up real badly by bigs trying to get a larva but he finally managed it and has one in his possession. Now if he can only get home.

Mission: Meet the Council
Task: Larvae Hunters
RP title: Ramblin Road

Hi, everyone!

We got a fun little roleplay with Dash. He's been separated from Riko, but he's joined by Vixen in this CO WRITE!

Dash meets and joins her in a short battle with a couple bugbears. Turns out Vixen was fired from the Typical Tavern. Dash offers to get her into KOL; she accepts. Dash also rambles on about an incident in the past.. basically a temple where a key was out of reach.. That's the reason he wants the mosquito; he figures if he had it then for retrieval, he might have been able to get the key and proceed deeper into the temple.

That's about it! There's some fun teasing and back and forth between Dash and Vixen, who was a lil confused by Dash's story... *Grins*

The rp ends with them continuing towards the Forest.

Shamus's First
Posted by: Shamus XTreme

Here's the notes for my RP!

Shamus ran after blahking, trying to talk to him, but two guards stopped him from following the prince into the council of loathing. They knocked him out, and, after an hour, he woke up. He saw blahking, and told him he found the orb. Blahking knew he was bluffing.

Shamus, now with no job, went to the council to try to ask for one. He choked, and said he was Blahking. The council repeated what they said to the prince earlier, and Shamus left.

Now knowing about the tasks, he hid in a box, to try to get out of the council without the guards noticing. They thought the box had spare weapons, for the KOKOL members, un-spookifying the crypt; so they loaded him onto a cart, headed towards the crypt. *Pant* *Pant*

Crossovers: Mission achievement, Four Heroes: Who's going where?

Cowritten with the help of Sebastian Dash and Catrina Whiteclaw themselves.

We started off with Sebastian and Catrina arriving to see a crowd of people at the mission posting. At the front of the mess is myself, Feena. A little behind it stood our friend, Riko. Didn't take us long to pick our missions out, but I meant to be OUT of there prior to the crowd getting in my way.

Yeah, I was off to go wipe out a skeletal dragon called the bonerdagon, and quell the issues at hand in the crypt.

Didn't work out too well... Catrina's gonna follow me, once she's geared up.

Riko and Sebastian are taking on the issues with the mosquito larva. Definitely a Milk Run as Riko called it.

Elsewhere in the kingdom, a certain foe of mine seemed to plot, and... With my AMRAS? What's going on here?

Of course, I ran into Amras again, and gave him something I'd been saving. My love. God is he gorgeous... *Drools* Good to have him fight with me against stuff I can't take on solo without getting a nap here and there between beatings.

And yes, we did do something, not saying what.

Crypt Cleaners: Catrina's Buns

*Catrina looks up at the title, her back toward the audience* Someone will die for this....

*Glances back then turns around* O...Hi...erf.. Well today's post is a co write with Feena where Cat and Feena meet up outside the Cemetery and I get to meed Feena's mate! I mean...like WOW, you know? He's a cutie and he seems to make Feena real happy...he better if he knows what's good for him!

*Giggles* A-ny way. We get our butts in the Cemetary and fight a few of the creepies before entering the Crypt itself!

So...See yo later! Go get to reading! *Turns around* Yep... This calls for a slow painful death....

Shamus's Last
Posted by: Samus XTreme

Here's my quickly done notes:

Shamus is still trapped in the box, until two ghuols opened it, after twenty minutes of waiting for a fight, the ghuols left. Shamus, and Inuya, then entered the crypt, seeing the bone dragon, Shamus ran towards it, before being knocked down by the aura of defilement.

He then began trying to purge the crypt by fighting skeleltons, killing two, until the rest were scared away by the Giant skeelton. A short fight ensured, with the skeelton being out smarted by Inuya. After this, shamus looked for some comfortable ground, and closed his eyes.

Score Card
Posted by: AIL (Dash)

Hello, everyone. I'm sorry for this taking so long, and I'm sorry for proceeding without fully finishing up the last mission. I didn't feel it would be proper to try to fill in the second part of the finale when Catrina had said it was being worked on when we last spoke.

And Cat hasn't been online in almost a month.

Spoiler: Dash won. This is the voting that resulted in that decision. For a few previous missions, I asked Kat of Blood Alliance Championship Wrestling, an e-wrestling group, to do voting. She was too busy now, so she nominated another trusted member of the e-fed, Thomas, to vote.

For the first time, I am hosting his comments in full, since they're fairly short and to the point. It'll hopefully help you understand why he voted the way he did. They're also a bit shorter than Kat's, of whom I posted comment highlights, as you can see above.

If response is positive enough, I might go back and post the full comments by Kat for previous votes. Of course, if you are interested in getting them, feel free to PM me.

Discuss here, thanks! And please, keep things on a civil note. The voting is a favor done to us to help the game proceed in a fair and unbiased way.

And once more, I'm sorry this took so long to post! With Catrina having never sent in the second part of the mission and having unfortunately vanished (we can only hope Cat is well, and thank her for the COUNTless hours and story she's poured freely and willingly into AIL), I've decided it's best to just proceed with AIL and future missions.

Thank you for understanding, and enjoy the voting scoresheet for Meet The Council!

The voting from Thomas is below. Slightly edited for clarity, since Dash can't quality for both missions, obviously.

Non-stream of consciousness comments:

(Crypt mission)

Shamus (20pts)- I'm giving Shamus the nod here; I felt like the writing in his pieces was a bit more cohesive, and worked toward a fairly mobile and interesting story.

Which brings me to...

Catrina (18pts)- The only reason that Catrina (isn't) at the top of my pile is that there didn't seem to be as much direct relevance to the mission, which was one of the criteria I was given. The writing was solid and interesting, however, and the story between Catrina and Dash was by far the best of the joints.

Feena (17pts)- Sort of the same problem as Riko, but I think she stands out more, and is allowed a chance to be a bit more interesting by the writer.

Mosquito larvae

Dash- (20pts)- Dash was far and away the most active in this storyline, although the piece with Vixen was somewhat confusing.

Riko (16pts)- An interesting character, but seems to come across more as an accessory to the people she's working with than anything else. That said, the pieces she was a part of tended to come off fairly well.

Raw Hide (15pts)- While probably the most directly relevant, the story was handled in a way that felt something like riding a bullet train through the Louvre (that is, going too fast to really see anything going on), it's just bam- in and out, without much chance to really figure out what's going on.

Vixen (14pts)- While the writing wasn't bad or anything, I really didn't get much of a feel for the character in the one stretch of dialogue.

SEASON totals so far! (Only one more mission and the Season Finale are planned.. subject to change, of course! I might need to consider adding more missions, or canceling us outright, if we can't keep activity as high as it needs to be.)
