Fifty months after the very first Rollover was posted (which took weeks if not a month or two of thinking and writing), AIL was in the middle of writing the Mission Finale to the long awaited, long planned Final series of the first season.

Since I'd done a sample mission as a part of the first season, I wanted to also start season 2 off with something similar. Thus, I ended up choosing an "interim" mission, with just three weeks of roleplaying and worth only ten points. However, thanks to the Live RP format, alts, and a generally wider player base, thirteen characters qualified for points amidst the two Live RP's, the co write, and the three solo pieces for the mission.

We also have ourselves a time skip of a few weeks both before and after the mission, giving it a bit of an isolated feel, being somewhere between the Mission Finale chaos and the upcoming reopening of Seaside Town.

I also used the time skip to try to balance out how the AIL mission / game time seems to be much, much shorter than the four years plus of 'real time' that's passed since.

 
Nearly three months ago, the Knob Goblins invaded Seaside Town and waged war on the Kingdom, attempting to burn down the city in the process. When the Knob Goblin King attempted to revive the dead under his control, the traitorous Jester King of Beasts betrayed him, resulting in the spell backfiring, and Catrina Whiteclaw taking control of his empire, allying with Degrassi Knoll, and renaming the alliance as "The Feline Empire." Catrina's forces swiftly secured Degrassi Knoll and South Degrassi as their own. They also temporarily allied with the Kingdom of KOL to drive the zombies out, killing the Knob Goblin King in the process.

The Jester King's betrayal is the only piece of the story not known to the public. Indeed, at this point, it was known to him and precious few others. Even Catrina knew nothing of it.

Seaside is devastated by war and sealed off from public view, Degrassi is in an uneasy occupation, and the heroes are exhausted from the fighting. Thanks be to Jick, Generic Summer Holiday is just around the corner.

Our heroes will have to decide between helping out with the reconstruction or taking a well-deserved break. In a long standing tradition, King Mtiger, a Council of Loathing representative, and numerous others had, in keeping with ceremony, read the great “Generic Summer Challenge of the Gods.” Though readings vary greatly, they all speak of summer ‘gods’ who would reward those Adventurers who are able to have the most fun and personify the traits of Generic Summer Vacation. Great rewards had been known to come to adventurers during this time. Over recent years, many had predicted that the gates to Hey Daze would soon be thrown open to challenge the adventurers.. it hasn’t happened yet (Or has it?).. but with Hey Daze oddities, the public again worried that the stories might soon prove true!

Beyond that, there were stories of the Knob Goblin’s ex king’s ghost haunting the area around Seaside Town. None knew for sure how - or if- he’d died. Well.. almost none. Others had claimed to have spotted the King in a shadowy, mysterious group, but those rumors usually resulted in people vanishing mysteriously, so they were slow to spread.

Generic Summer Vacation week is a week of drinking, studying, and unusual, shocking events. On one long past Generic Summer Vacation, the mysterious Bjorn took control of the Penguin Mafia, using them to punish the most wicked Adventurers in the Kingdom.

Generic Summer Vacation week is starting! Will you rise up to the challenge? What challenges will rise up for our heroes? And most importantly, would someone be met with an amazing reward?!
