Captain's Log
Mission:  Chrono Quest
By Catrina

Original Roleplay

Catrina's writing again, although in the same vain of the previous roleplay (mine), it's done from a NPC point of view. This time, it's the Captain! "A moment for reflection on a problem" is the subtitle, and it sums this one up quite nicely!

Catrina wakes up, and gets a more proper introduction to the pirates, while we get a much better overview of the particular brand of pirates we've met. There's even a touch of history on the land, and more recent events.

After this one, we get to the first and only Chad appearance for the mission. Check out the Captain!

A storm's comin'. I feel it in me bones...

The feelin of unease grows in me crew. The past week sleep has been fitful at best and it's startin to show on the lads. There's a general feelin' that somethin's not quite right, and talk of the Curse has surfaced again. I belayed that kind of thinkin, but I get to wonderin meself- especially after the fight today.

Heard the sound of battle earlier. Me and the lads all rushed to investigate, knowin no dirty hippy would caterwaul like that. What we found was confusin to say the least. Any lad or lassie knows the uniforms we saw...what were the Dyspepsia doin on the island? Saw that they had a prisoner with 'em, and she was at rope's end with one of the soldiers. Spunky lass...took the devil's own beatin' and just rolled back up. She must've said somethin' to finally set the lubber's fuse- for he started throttlin' her. Well...me bein a gentleman and all, it was time to show these blaggards their way off me lands!

We rushed into their camp and started the fray, and seein they outnumbered us by only three to one I figger the sides were pretty even matched. Coconuts, bright lass, broke off and set to checkin on their guest. Was thinkin she'd fix the lass up and see her away, but suddenly I hear a roar that would've froze the Devil's own bones, and she's plowin' into their midst, fightin like a thing possessed! Collapsed after the battle, and is currently sleepin' it off. Moments later our blood ran cold as we watched the lads we been facin earlier just....fade away. That if nothin else has the lads spooked...

Will have to have a long talk with our new guest, perhaps she can give us a leg up on what's happenin to me island...

Captain Morgan set aside his log, and looked over to where she was laying. The number of questions that ran through his head about her, and about her purpose on the Island.... He scratched his chin and smiled as he saw her start to stir and stretch, finally, some answers! "Did ye have a nice nap now, lass?"

Perhaps he should have waited until she was completely awake, for when she heard his voice she leaped to her feet, growlin and reachin fer weapons she obviously didn't have. *Whoa! Sorry lassie, didn't mean to scare ye!"

She stood there, pantin, obviously embarrassed by her reactin like that, but it was okay. Many's the time reachin for his sword first before answering the door has saved his skin! Finally she collected herself and nodded to him. "Hello, Captain...Morgan was it? I'm sorry; I was a bit out of it when we met.”

He grinned broadly, bending to take her…paw, gently kissing it as he looked her in the eyes. “Aye, lass- Captain John Morgan, at yer service!” This got a bit of a giggle out of her, as she’d obviously never been treated in this sort of manner before. He indicated the log he was sittin on at the fire that had been built. They had basically taken over the Dyspepsia camp after they faded- what was left of it. Morgan had not wanted to move the lass until they knew more about how, and what, she was. She sat down as he indicated, curlin her long tail around her. He smiled apologetically at her. “I’d offer ye something to drink, lass, but all we have in stores is the ship’s grog. It’s a fine brew, but it has a kick like a three pounder with a double load!”

Morgan smirked when the lass said that the grog would be fine, not believing that she could handle so strong a drink. Of course, such a fightin lass was probably full of surprises, and it wouldn’t hurt to loosen her tongue before asking her about why she was here. He called Coconuts over, and had her fetch the two of them a pint apiece, plus one for herself, since she did such good work today. She did surprise, her eyes widening as her first sip started to burn its way down her gullet but otherwise drinking it down heartily

Morgan settled back with his own mug, and gazed steadily at her. “Now, lass, why don’t ye tell me what yer doin way out here on me island alone, hmm?”

Whether because of the drink or just because she was an outgoing person, Catrina launched into her story, soon tellin Morgan about the friend she came with, and their travels over- her hunt for provisions, and her capture by the Dyspepsia. Morgan had one of the lookouts come over and had Catrina describe her friend, a Sebastian Dash, to him, so that a watch could be kept for his approach- since she was probably missed by now.

Their talk wandered a bit after that, with Morgan tellin Catrina about some of the strange events of the past week. This dragon that she and her friend were lookin for, could it really be the cause for all the strange events? Perhaps even be the one from the Curse? Morgan could hardly believe it, but if what she said was true, others did believe, and were massing to stop it.

It wasn’t long before the watch gave up a shout, that her friend had been spotted approachin camp. When she learned of this Catrina grinned broadly, and excused herself, saying she wanted to welcome Dash ‘properly’ since she ‘hadn’t pounced him all day!’

As she ran off, tail held high, Morgan could only wonder if Dash really knew what he was in fer….
