Mission: End of the Heroic Age: Fallout subtitle: Three Epilogues in one By Cat, Dash and Konall Original Finale Part V
It's hard to think of anything more to say. Each subquest in the mission received an appropriately awesome Finale. This just adds a little extra to each mission- and gives a sense of where we start off at for Season two.

(Written by Konall) Four geckos crawled along the ceiling through the Knob dungeons. They stuck to the shadows, creeping through crevices whenever they could. Their leader was wise in the ways of concealment, and the others followed her lead. As they came to a doorway, the door opened and a goblin guard stumbled drunkenly through. Kadlin had sent in celebratory rations of beer to the dungeon guard, making this whole thing easier. The geckos silently climbed through the passage right before the door slammed shut. The hall ahead was torchlit, but the third gecko spat a cloud of green gas into it and put it out. One of the guards took a closer look, but the lizard had already skittered behind one of the shields mounted on the wall. As the guard stooped to relight the torch, the strongest of the gecko gang dropped from the ceiling and smacked him hard on the back of the skull. It was just barely enough to knock the man unconscious. The four geckos moved farther down the hall and made it to the lower dungeons. These were barely lit. The sounds consisted of guards talking, a few prisoners screaming, and a couple of the more insane inmates rambling incoherently. The reptiles moved through the dim corridors with ease until they came to the lowest level. They reached the end and went right between the bars of the farthest cell, and moved to the floor, staring at the chained form in the corner. And then, one by one, the potions they had drank began to wear off. Konall was the first to turn back into his original form. He turned to the gecko that had blown out the torch with gas. "You and your magic, Kadlin. One of these days..." The gecko he was talking to morphed into Kadlin. "And how, besides Xanadon's gecko form potions, did you expect to get in here? Were you going to fight through every soldier in the knob?" "Well, yeah," Konall said. "Naw, we don't like you enough to let you have that much fun.." Vixen said with a sly smile after transforming into her humanoid fox shape. "What?! Who's there? Your King demands to know!" A feeble and pathetic voice called out from the dark. "You're not bringing those icky Knob Goblin Harem Girls back, are you?! They're icky and keep trying to touch me!" The Knob Goblins' king paused and he added a feeble, "I'm willing to negotiate!" Fumblies transformed back into a human. "Okay. How about this? You hold out your neck, and I'll cut off your head quickly and painlessly." A guard approached the cell, but Konall reached through the bars and knocked the goblin out. "What?! That's stupid! You'd kill me if you did that, moron! I want a legal system invented!" Kadlin smirked. "We lost a lot of men killing off the zombie horde, the one that's linked to you, the one that will resurrect itself every time both moons go black until we destroy the vessel that the energies of the curse are bound to. In this case, that vessel is you." The goblin king went as pale as a goblin can go, and Konall grabbed him. Fumblies twisted his neck and broke it. Konall flexed. "That was easy. How are we getting out?" "Same way we got in," said Kadlin. "There's no way you're using that Odin-forsaken magic on me." Kadlin smirked and raised her glaive. "Cleesh." (Written by Catrina and Dash) Sebastian Dash surveyed the area in South Degrassi. General Detree had arrived in town with news of King MTiger's critical injuries and a host of guards, among them the comma chameleon Inuaustin and Grillhamo, both of whom were keeping guard, though Dash wondered if Grillhamo's presence would end up doing more harm than good. "This building's kind of small," Dash said as he surveyed the small hut in front of them. He pointed to a three story fort which looked heavily fortified and rarely used. "I'd prefer that one, along with the buildings surrounding it, of course, for our headquarters." Cattaras smiled. "It's a beaut, isn't it? We moved into it yesterday." Dash gritted his teeth. This was already hard going. "It's clearly been abandoned for weeks, and that's being generous." A laugh from the tiger. "Very. More like months. That place isn't gonna look more than a dump for a while even with someone inside it- which we are." Dash turned and pointed to a two story house, which was boarded up. It wasn't as tall, of course, but it was much wider.. "How about that one? I'm sure we could fix it up and have it be the pride of South Degrassi in no time." Cattaras looked at the building and nodded. "You could- but if you had your dog go over there he'd tell you it stinks like something died inside it before they boarded it up." Todd bristled at being called a 'dog' - although his mood was already sour at the meeting. "Hey you! Can the insults! I got out of bed to help you guys out here..." "It's the afternoon." Cattaras stated wiht a growl. "Why would you still be in bed?" "I was with Lapine- do I have to draw a picture?" Todd replied briskly. Cattaras nodded as he got the picture. "Ah...my apologies." He turned to Dash. "You owe him... Big time." "Pff, she probably slept til noon, anyway." Dash turned towards Cattaras. "We can clean it out. Is it a deal or no? I want the buildings on either side of it in the deal, since they're a possible security threat." Todd bristled at that, but Cattaras beat him to any response. "Obviously you're not familiar with the phrase 'f-" Todd barked. "Hey- look unlike your slut sister I like to keep my private life private, thank you very much!" The two men glared at each other, then Cattaras backed down. "Sure... whatever. The Mayor here wants us to keep a cordial tone, so I'm sure we'll not be attacking you in Degrassi... you may want to consider moving here permanently, meat." "So it's settled!" The head of the Merchant's board chimed in. "See what can be accomplished with a little cooperation and the support of the local Degrassi Merchant's board?" Dash opened his mouth to respond, paused, then closed it. Cattaras rolled his eyes- but not so the locals could see him. He was well aware of just how much help the great 'Degrassi Merchant Board' had been to them- and the Mayor! "Would have been simpler to let us settle it among ourselves like we were doing." He growled to himself. Dash glared at Cattaras, then pulled Todd and Detree aside to discuss how to go about this. The tension didn't let up and seemed unlikely to do so in the near future - if ever. But as far as Dash was concerned, KOKOL was here to stay! Combined with Catrina's recent hist of the Knob Goblins, and Mtiger's grievous injuries, things had been quiet on both fronts. Surprisingly, Catrina had kept to herself, out of public view, in the post war period. We'd find out why soon enough. Things were, apart from an occasional disagreement or scuffle, agreeable for the most part. The Kingdom of KOL put its full support behind the Degrassi situation. In turn, the Feline Empire had put their attention into trying to secure a similar arrangement in Seaside Town, which was set to officially reopen over Summer Vacation Week. Calm before the storm? Likely to be a Hey Daze of a storm, too. The Council of Loathing ruled the town in need of cleanup and rebuilding before allowing the citizens to return. Several clans donated meat to the rebuilding of the clan, and there was much, much more meat unaccounted for suddenly flowing into the Kingdom. It was enough to hire Konall Bearsmasher and several key allies to guard the town during rebuilding. The entire thing was kept somewhat in mystery. KOKOL kept itself active as it delivered its first shipments from their recently acquired Chrono mines in the Mysterious Island of Mystery, currently under the charge of Jaques and Melody Thompson... From the outside or the walls of Seaside Town, which were now taller than ever and covered in a large white tent, as the Kingdom recovered from the Knob Goblin invasion and the zombie apocalypse, one could only look at the walls of Seaside Town and wonder what the town would be like when it reopened in the upcoming holiday of Generic Summer Holiday Week... So many dead, and so many more wounded, yet still it felt as if the worse was yet to come and soon to come.
And this post brings Season 1 to a close, after a little over fifty months since the very first Rollover went up. Being as it was meant to establish both the game and the world around it, I spent weeks- I think a good two months- working on the first Rollover. The first part of the Finale exceeds it in length and quality, yet the three of us were able to do it in a week or two.
That is something to be proud of. I'll hopefully be archiving Season II in the archive as well someday!
Congratulations to everyone involved in either a major or minor way to AiL's

In other words, I don't own KOL, or KOKOL, and KOL doesn't own KOL. Get it? Good! ! |
