Mission: Guild Warriors II: Machines and Soul subtitle: Zed, Red, Catt and Fahari make (it) out! Posted by Cattaras Original co-write
Oh this is a fun one!
I don't want to say too much but there's a little escape, a little action and a whole lot of the effects of the machine on Cattaras, Fahari and Zed here. On Red? Not so much.

Cattaras growled. "Do they have to be so loud when they do it?"
The quartet found themselves having to sneak out past their captors, which was being made more difficult not by any traps or blockages... but by the fact that their guards were currently … erm... 'enjoying each other's company' in the next room!
Loudly... and that was even worse when you had good ears like Cattaras and Fahari- who were also under the machine's effect.
He growled again. "I should go in there and SHOW those bitches what it means to scream!"
The ebon furred female beside him glanced over- then looked away quickly. "You need to control your emotions- and your loincloth, sirra." Fahari stated matter of factly. "Both are beginning to show." Fahari was having a similar fight with the two moaning women, and the sight she had just seen was hard to resist in her state! The tiger muttered an apology and adjusted himself.
Zed wasn't getting the same range of stimuli as the Felines, however he still shifted his stride as his clothing stretched in parts. His mind recounted the early days when his gifts emerged, and how hard it was to concentrate on anything but the intoxicating feeling of the raw power he wielded. "I'll have to pass on a closer viewing as well, Cattaras. But I want to retrieve my weapons before we go, and I don't think -"
Cattaras chuckled. "Not thinking about watching 'em, man."
"Shut it Catt - I know what we'd both like to do, but I'm trying to keep a level head. Where did you get in? Is the route likely to be clear still?"
Fahari eyerolled. "Protect me, Goddess. I'm surrounded by testosterone."
Cattaras chuckled but otherwise ignored her. "If the other bitches in Dark's little harem are here- they're probably doing the same thing those two are. Getting out of here shouldn't be a problem."
"Bet that cocky, carefree remark just jinxed us royally." stated Zed. "And you've been around them longer, Catt - why's that goblin barely responding to what's hitting us?"
Catt laughed. "You want to ask Red why he's not hitting on you, you go right ahead bud."
Fahari observed, "Maybe it's got to have females dominating him to get him going. Yeah, seems that's right."
Red's exuberant head-nodding seemed so comical under the circumstance, Zed couldn't keep from grinning along with the goblin. "Fahari, if you would refrain yourself from even the suggestion of said image."
Fahari actually growled. "If we get out of here in one piece I'm going to.. " She stopped, shaking her head. "Sorry.. I am sorry sirrahs... This conversation is getting to me more than I care to admit."
Catt smirked. "That does it. Fifteen minute puppy conversation GO!"
"Well," Zed started, still keeping a watchful eye out while following Cattaras's lead. "Your Deputy Becky Joy seems a very vibrant but peculiar lady. I'm tempted to place her in the same category as Awakesun for 'people who confuse me without trying.'"
Catt chuckled. "Becky is... Becky. No other way to say it: she's a class unto hers-" He paused as Fahari held up a paw, then started forward again, slowly, carefully- slipping out of her robes. Something was up ahead and she knew it! An odd, undefined form flew through the air, capturing her. Dark One be cursed, before Fahari knew what was happening, she was entangled in the thick, unbreakable brown strands of a very thick fisherman's net! She could hear similar traps being successfully sprung on Red, Zed and Cattaras as well.
Catt roared and struggled in his bonds as two figures stepped out from the gloom. Vixen and Lapine! They didn't look very happy to see their guests here.
Vixen sighed. "Why couldn't you have kept away from the village and let us do our job here?"
Fahari growled up at them, giving up the struggle against the net and conserving her energies. "It is the will of my Goddess that moves me. None may stand before that and live."
"I'm pretty sure your Goddess doesn't want you dead." Lapine tried to sound threatening but her heart wasn't into it. "Look, just let Master Dark and us handle the demons and stay here. I'm sure he'll forget about you and then you can sneak out when we're done, okay?"
"It is not the demons that drives me." Fahari answered calmly, though her tail lashed a bit.
"Speak for yourself, Fahari." Cattaras growled. "I've got nothing to do with your Goddess or her errands!"
"Hey.. what happened?" came the sleepy voice of Bandit. She and Runic looked like they'd just awaken from a nap as they stumbled next to the prisoners in the net.
"Stay back," ordered Lapine. "They're still dangerous, even if they are tied up."
"How dangerous could they be?" Runic asked, the runes on her furry paws starting to glow.
"Why don't you untie me and we'll see what I can do to you." Cattaras growled. Maybe this machine was a godsend after all! Runic purred at the suggestion- until Bandit elbowed her in the ribs.
Lapine and Vixen looked at each other in puzzlement. "What's he up to?"
Meanwhile, Bandit danced outside of Cattaras's reach. "Haha, can't touch me. Can you touch me? You know you can't! Know who can't touch me? Huh? Huh?!"
Fahari looked over and growled at her companion. "Cattaras, the effects of the machine- bad as they are- are not an excuse to molest another creature."
Cattaras just growled back as he started to free himself from his prison. "Oh, I've got plenty of excuse for this bitch!" He eyed Bandit. "Gonna 'touch' you til you scream, girl!"
Possibly a mistake as the net which entrapped him gave no pause to Bandit's swing of her trademark bat. It caught him hard in the midsection, causing the tiger to drop to his knees and leaving his rear open to a quick and easy grope from Runic.
"Knock it off, you two!" Lapine ordered. "They're prisoners. They're also helpless. There's no excuse for this!"
Fahari nodded calmly. "Actually there is. Or at least an explanation. This is not the only outbreak of a.. sensual nature that has occurred with her today- am I not right?"
"Don't you touch her!" Runic screamed, standing in front of Bandit. She was cut off by a glare from Vixen.
"You two," she ordered. "Go back and wait for us. We can handle them, and you're just going to mess up."
"Bu.. but.." Runic started to protest, moping.
"Fine!" Bandit cried out in protest, dragging Runic off. "We don't wanna hear about your stupid goddess anyway!"
Someone got in a parting shot as they left.
"Slightly rude insulting someone else's deity without cause," remarked Zed calmly, already having freed himself and Red from their nets while the pairs were otherwise distracted. He quickly knelt over Fahari and unentangled her as well, before stopping - unfortunately Cattaras was too close to the remaining pair's personal space to risk assisting. Besides, Lapine was already blasting Zed with some nasty looking spells.
"So you would defend us while we're trapped, but you prefer to keep up this pretense of hostility? Why, Lapine? Vixen?" Displaying some impressive acrobatics in such a tight space, Zed avoided most of the casts superbly but took one fireball almost directly in the back and dropped down.
"Because you've got an extra piece hanging down between yer legs, bud." Cattaras growled, almost free of his bonds. Only Fahari had remained calm, somewhat free but not yet attacking.
"The anatomy lesson is uncalled for, Cattaras- however you do have a point." she purred.
"You mean he has two..." Vixen started to ask.
"Nevermind that!" Lapine said, summoning up a wall of fire between the two furries and the former prisoners. "They're free. Without backup, they're too much for us to handle!"
A burst of wind from Lapine blew the flames towards Zed and the others, but it only lasted a few seconds. Long enough for Vixen and Lapine to vanish down one of the many twisting hallways in the dungeon.. or stronghold. Or wherever they were!
Fahari's call stopped them before Cattaras and the others could go off in pursuit. As they turned she stood easily- and the net fell away. "We cannot go after them like this. Especially you two." She eyed Catt and Zed darkly. Well.. darker than her usual ebon faced look.
"Shame - I'd like to have shown Vixen... Sorry, unwise train of thought." Zed brushed himself off as he stood, mostly unharmed from the fire thanks to wise equipment choices. "They said they're not working alongside the demons - so who would they pass the machine to? And you ok now, Cattaras?"
Cattaras growled and started off after the others. "Oh, I'm just fine- gonna show those...."
"You will do nothing of the sort." Fahari snapped, showing just a bit of emotion in the twitch of her tail. "You will remain as far from those women as possible given the size of the rooms here. At least until you get the idea of what you are thinking of doing to them out of your head."
Cattaras turned on her. "And what if I..."
He got no further as she said quietly; "Then I would take away the reason you feel this way. Do I make myself clear, Cattaras?"
"What's this now?" Red stumbled over and picked something up. Dramatic, Italian music seemed to play- but didn't- as he held up a shiny but rusty key in the air.
Zed smiled, a slight twinkle in his eyes. "That's one of the reasons I liked hearing about her before - Vixen's very deceptive, and sometimes not all that bad. We'd better hurry out now - the four of them will be back soon. And Catt, Fahari - if two different sets of folks are already seeking the location of the machine..."
Fahari shook her head. "They do not seek the machine. They are blind to it, but not to its effects." She headed toward what she felt was the way out. "Let us go. You boys need to be away from temptation."
"... I really hate that I shouldn't reply to that remark." cursed Zed, falling behind.
Cattaras growled but smirked at Zed's remark. "Thing is. if they ain't after the machine, what're Dark Meat and his Bitch Brigade doin' here?"
"Maybe they think they'll get a shot at Sebastian Dash if he comes around?" suggested Zed.
"That momma's boy is probably hidin' under a rock somewhere." Cattaras growled. Sure he was friendly with Dash- but still not 'friends'.
"Momma meatkins!" Red complained. "Can we get'a outta here and talk-talk later? Mmmm meatballs."
"If you three are quite finished." Fahari spoke from one of the corridors. "There is fresh air in this direction- I believe it is the way out."
Zed snapped back. "Alright, fine - but you've been wiggling your hips and ignoring your robe as well, Ms. Monk. Blightspawn!! Sorry, Fahari."
Fahari stopped, and looked startled, then apologetic. "I am sorry, sirrah. It seems the machine has many ways of making me dance to its music." She padded over, somewhat over correcting for that hip swinging then stooping to pick up her robe where it lay.
"Yeah, I know the feeling. Say Catt - when next we take a break, tell me a bit about what you've heard about Kwadlin's drugs on folks." asked Zed, finally linking something that he'd heard from Aleena before her departure.
Cattaras growled. "I'm not in a mood to go over that shit storm now, bud. Ask me when I'm NOT thinkin' about murder."
"Fine, Catt, sorry. Let's get out of here."
From a distance, far out of sniffing range, Lapine and Vixen watched them depart. "So do you think it's the spirit rejuvenation machine we were told to seek out?" Lapine asked. "Yea.. sure do," Vixen answered, keeping her voice even lower. "But they have no idea how powerful it is." "Should we tell Dark?" Lapine asked but Vixen shook her head emphatically, heeding her sense of hearing. "Shh, here comes the dupes." Vixen and Lapine turned and swiftly moved down the hall to meet Bandit and Runic. "They didn't go this way," said Lapine. Bandit and Runic almost seemed to cower before the other two. "They're smarter than they look." "You know, I think they said something about a machine, or machete or some-- " Runic started, but Lapine interrupted her with a slap across her muzzle. "Forget that," Lapine said harshly. "It isn't important. It's probably a trap so forget it. I'll tell you what you need to focus on until Master Dark returns. In the meantime, why didn't you heed our calls for assistance when they got free?" "We didn't hear you!" Bandit protested, but Lapine cut her off with the threat of magic. Then she and Vixen roughly hauled their dimensional duplicates down the hall to discuss strategy.. and punishment for not responding to the nonexistent pleas for help.
Ohhhh, a little twist in the story with Vixen and Lapine? Cooould be.. And definitely a new twist on the relation between the two and their mirrorworld counterparts. Next up: Konall & Kadlin. Then Kadlin. And then Konall. |
