MISSION INFORMATION This is the out of character mission information and RP Notes for our second Guild Warriors mission. It's another split mission so there's more extra notes than you'd usually get. It's also a very successful mission in terms of quality and quantity.
MISSION INFO
The piece missing notes:
As I mentioned, there's two quests. Each player character does one. Let's examine how that works. You pick the quest you want each character to do and title your roleplays appropriately by putting the mission name at the start of the title. We're not too picky about format, though it's usually something like this.
NINJAS: Zed and Strawberry Whorecake
If it's a co write with characters on the same mission, obviously you use the above format. If you have characters from two different quests in it, use CROSSOVER instead.
CROSSOVER: Fighting Giants
Notes: I'd only suggest X-Over if the title would be too long otherwise. You don't have to use all caps, either though it helps the title stand out a bit. NOTE: Please note if you do a crossover with characters on both quests, the mission notes should be posted in both. You can copy/ paste or have each handler do their own notes for the appropriate quest. We've faced the main villains in the holiday mission but were able to avoid using them much for Konall's Grudge. Still, we might want to add a few new twists to them. I'll write notes on each for the RP threads. Remember, the meeting goes down right about the same time as the horrid weather in Degrassi. I'll leave it up to players how we handle aspects of the natural disasters and the mission beyond that. I'll leave it up to us to determine how the machines related to each mission works, too. Magic? Technology? I figure it's a combination of the two, actually. But again, I'll leave that to hopefully come up during the mission. I'd like to try to examine themes of 'soul' and what it means to be alive during the mission if possible. I'm also going to push for some new players to AIL. Two months roleplaying is expected, give or take X amount.
I THINK that is the only time it's come up but will edit in any other uses. Fun facts. There are, at the minimum, a wise old man who walks very slowly and a child ninja who had Spaz accidentally steal his ear. It's mostly a comedy tribute to ninjas. Konall once conquered it, supposedly in an act of self defense. For rampaging and pillaging the town, he become known as a local hero. He was given a 'loft of honor,' but hasn't been back in some time. There were more evil ninjas to the north but I think we took them out during the Live RP. Konall at one point set a hut on fire to avoid an ambush, but it sat there, supposedly burning for all eternity. Konall shrugged and walked in. See Live RP for more! It was a fun Live RP. The goal of the Ninja village is to deal with the slavers, who've taken control of most of the village. They have a machine which will let them bring back their recently killed. We don't know what the potential applications of it. They might come back like zombies or vampires, but ignore the temptation to include a 'lust for blood or brains' here. They're able to regain life from the sun itself. Like a plant. Roleplay titles should be titled CROSSOVER if it's a co write involving someone on the FOREST mission, or NINJA if a solo. Or if a co write between FOREST focused characters. I'm leaving a lot up to come out during roleplaying. The nature of the machine. The slavers. I'd like us to come up with some good twists and new forces for the slavers. I'd especially like us to make sure they are written as a serious threat to the Kingdom please. This might be a fitting mission to bring up questions and themes of life and death. See if you can work with those. Finally, I'd like us to try to get to the ninja village. I'd like to see players step up when parts of the mission seem ambiguous and define the mission through planning and writing. I think we can make the story feel like it's moving forward faster and more consistently if individual players feel empowered to make editorial decisions and put in sweeping plot points where it's appropriate to do so. This one's a lil tricky since it seems like they're all going for the slavers but plans will have at least one of them getting an interest in the other quest. Starts off with Todd overhearing a messenger talk about the slavers. Todd nearly gets rough in his quest to figure out what's going on. Once he finds out, he heads out and walks straight into Wildfall! They get challenged to a fight by the locals but sneak off. Todd again runs head first into someone- this time it's Sir Fumblies, who has Fahari at his side. They're both interested in this mission for their own reasons. Featuring live appearances from Sebastian Dash, Cattaras, Jen, Raven, Tarvel and Glyn, the assembled party tries to get a handle on the folks injured by the sudden attack in the Finale, and the impending storms. There's some fast-chatter between those with the Nano-tech relays to organize the party, then we've got a stormwatch/alert to get out. Thus folks hop to it! Wildfall and Fumblies are scouting the village with Fumblies's brutes left at the edges of town. Wildy hears something stirring in the bushes and pounces it- but it's just Todd. The two trade wiseass'isms, and talk to an elderly ninja who instructs them to try to understand their foes beyond their strengths and weaknesses in order to defeat them. The old man vanishes mysteriously. The roleplay ends with Fumblies hearing a 'childish voice whisper something in his ear.' Three elves land in a Ninja Forest, and one experiences flight sickness. Jen, Tarvel and Glyn move out to check on the slavers' activities. The slavers weren't expecting the elves' coming, and the elves definitely don't approve of the slavers' actions - past and present - in this RP. Promise for things to heat up next. Meanwhile, Kadlin enters Fernswarthy's tower and gets a book about the sword and its powers. She also learns to create a new form of shadow brute and gains better necromantic control. FOREST It debut with Ozzie's debut, which marked the 400th thread in AIL history. That's only a small sampling of it, and may not be indicative of the town. So if nothing else, we know bureaucracy is there. In KOL, it served as a refuge town during a skeleton invasion. AiL retroactively added it to our lands, saying it had been around for a while and took in refugees during the zombie invasion. (Which predated KOL's skeleton invasion.) Ozzie Whelk's from there but not likely to be around for this mission. So use FOREST before each RP title, unless it involves someone from the other mission as well, in which case use CROSSOVER or X-OVER for the title. (This is in addition to whatever title you normally use. Example: FOREST: Fumblies Finds a Tree in the Forest.) I leave it to you to flush the details out. The Hey Daze bosses are back. Pick and use whichever bosses you want, just keep an eye to see who else uses who. Introduce new minions or bosses if you want. See the Holiday mission and the three part Finale for the epic Enter Hey Daze mission. We should flush out the village, which is supposed to have a hidden 'life' machine, which the village's representative is worried the Hey Daze bosses will find out about. We're really not quite sure why the Hey Daze spawn have taken over, so hopefully we can delve into ideas for that too. This one's a lil tricky since it seems like they're all going for the slavers but plans will have at least one of them getting an interest in the other quest. Becky, Cattaras and Dash's only -
archive copy
Wildfall, Todd, Sir Fumblies and Fahari arrive at the ninja village in "The Wildfall Friends." Todd flirts. Fumblies recalls being there before. Fahari has to go, however, after getting a spiritual message. The Ireacan wise ass, the bard and the half orc commander start to explore the ninja fight but are cut off by a slaver attack. They force the slavers to retreat. Fearing an ambush, our remaining trio backs off of the village. Next up is "Catatras’s Grudge," Catt and Dash continue to deal with the aftermath of Kadlin’s disastrous spell, which sees some nasty properly damage (lots of buildings collapsing dramatically), injuries and even off screen death. Becky Joy joins the ‘fun,’ ironically after Catt cracks a joke about how he can’t simply ‘call her’ and have her appear as if it were a fantasy story. The forth wall isn’t the only one to fall but our heroes deal with it. Later on, Goblina delivers the message from the Council. Cattaras obviously is nearly out of control at the slaver news. Dash is taking on the forest problem. Dash and Becky try to calm him down. After calming down, he offers to join Dash, saying there’s other furs to take care of the slaver situation. Becky promises to meet them there. EDIT: Fixed a little mistake that said Catt was going for the ninjas. He isn’t. He’s going after the demons and forest village. Cuts off with appearance of Vixen, Lapine, Runic and Bandit assisting Z. Dark in felling Zed and Fahari. Zed and Fahari wake up, finding themselves tied uncomfortably close together by the captors (Runic, Bandit likely). They assess their situation and recognize that they can't free themselves fast enough to turn the tables, so they wait. Meanwhile Cattaras and Red come across the trail of the fight that took down Zed and Fahari, and speeds off to assist them, or get a whack at their opponents. Though Runic and Bandit get away cleanly, Zed tells the Felines that they're going to be a little 'hot and bothered' till the Life Machine in the Forest is under wraps. So Cattaras suggests they hunt the Hey Daze crew, rather than attempting to find the Machine first and then fighting over it. The RP ends with 'a little less conversation, a little more action' promised. A hero/ine's life can be pretty hard at times - this time, continued issues with restraint bear on the protagonists. After Cattaras' assistance in freeing Zed and Fahari, the three of them plus Red (goblin lackey of Becky Joy) try to get away from their surroundings while their captors (Runic and Bandit) are 'busy'. There are a few hiccups in their attempt - mainly by the reappearance of Vixen and Lapine - but the heroes exit to continue onwards. Which seems oddly agreeable to a fox/rabbit pair's plans... Meanwhile, Kadlin enters Fernswarthy's tower and gets a book about the sword and its powers. She also learns to create a new form of shadow brute and gains better necromantic control. Konall intimidates some demons into joining him, kills some undead, and goes into the forest village. There, he finds it has ben overrun by demons, and he fights one and then challenges Hunk to a duel of sorts. Hunk is winning, Konall goes the berserkest he's ever gone, and wins right before passing out. In winning the duel, he receives ownership of the village and the demons are bound to drive out the nearby undead. We've yet to see if they follow through on their end of the bargain. Titled "Passion over Reason." Thank you, Terry Goodkind. Alternate subtitle? "Stop sniggering, Mitch." The Catalina duo plus Zed continue to try and stay on target as they move through the Forest Village - thankfully, there are some zombies to let off some steam with. The three spot a familiar horse and spread out to catch some folks off-guard - Dash and Ms. K. Swift aren't totally defenceless though. After clearing the air and debriefing the new arrivals, the folks split off to try and accomplish more ground... while fighting from being overwhelmed and pursuing ideas with each. The next roleplay is "A strange stench in the woods." Becky can't sleep and she smells a familiar stench. Goblina goes with Becky who sets out to find out what's going on (oooh, what's going on!) She finds.. this is a lil surprising, but they find Gail aka Awakesun (formerly Awakensun) sitting in a large tree. The three are then assaulted by I the Mouse, who makes the mistake of lecturing them on grammar, giving Becky time to freeze his armor, while Gail blasts him with a dart gun. One or both of those things put I to sleep, bringing the short battle to an end. Worth noting, Gail wanted to protect the kittens, and is determined to protect the forest from demons! So the three return to camp, ending the roleplay. Looks like Forest got a little more action than Ninjas, plus of course we had four "crossover" pieces. So I'll start with the slightly less active Forest mission. Just like Holiday, I'll start with the winner, rather than going by points, and I'll list 'award points' with the person who gets credit for them. Note that the awards apply to the entire mission; there's only one 'best chemistry,' not one for each mission. Of course, the awards were handed out by our voter as well. We officially have eight participants in each mission although Raven's wasn't much more than a cameo this time. Forest mission Congratulations, Fahari! Twenty points! At first it seemed like she was on the ninjas mission. In fact, she was to the village when she got a 'message' from her Goddess and reversed course, heading to deal with the Life Machine instead. This allowed her the opportunity to deal with Todd, Wildfall and her love Sir Fumblies from the "other side" before setting into co writes with Cattaras (with Red), Dash and Zed. Not a bad list of characters to be playing off of! Voter Ichiro complemented her and others on "stepping out of their comfort zone" to great effect. In Fahari's case, it allowed us to see a more fun, sillier side of her. She also earned 2 points for taking place in Most dramatic piece, Some blood falling in the Forest. Zed and Fahari put up an excellent co write with an appropriately dramatic end. Not to spoil too much, but the heroes lost this battle. The twist ending and additional tension puts it slightly over the piece that wins best solo, which we'll get to shortly. Fahari: 20 (+2) = 22 Coming in next although with no awards is Cattaras Whiteclaw, 19 points! Like Fahari, Catt goes from dealing with his anger over the slavers to realizing he's best served with the Forest mission. Another similarity- the voter complimented Cattaras on doing something different. In this case, it was mostly playing up the effects of the life machine in a realistic way, the way it amplified his emotions. Cattaras's emotions were way turned up for this one but he managed to pull off some humor. He and one of Becky's Knob Goblins, Red, rushed to rescue Fahari and Zed. They confronted Vixen and Lapine (and their flipworld counterparts Runic and Bandit) on the way out. Solid work, Mitch! Cattaras: 19 Konall Bearsmasher comes in third at 18 points. Konall was in a solo as well as an exceptional piece alternating between him and Kadlin, which earned the Bearsmasher rival siblings most of their points for this run. Just an exceptional co write, the way it altered between the two. "Just so well done," as our voter put it, we got to see Konall on a spiritual journey even as elsewhere, his sister sinks further into darkness. Also, we see Konall in a desperate battle against Hunk of the Hey Daze bosses. Konall earns 2 points for being part of the Best solo piece, Crossover: Elevation. I was tempted to split this into a point each. After all, two characters take points for it. But it was just so well done, and exhaustive that I can't. They deserve and get two points each. The way the roleplay alternates between the two could have felt disconnected, but Cameron's too good a writer to fall into that trap. Crossover: Elevation also earns each character one point for Most unique style This was actually a tie with Sassy Snake, whom I'll get to in a bit. This one was so good, it almost took the most dramatic piece as well as these two awards! That's very high praise, and all in all, it earns each Bearsmasher three extra points. Oh- and Konall's half had the Toot Oriole show up. Konall also takes a point for Best RP title for The Exorfist, since Voter Ichiro likes puns. Konall: 18 (+2+1+1) = 22 Zed Shinestone, come on down! Zed earned himself forth place with 17 points. The voter praises him for stepping out of his usual comfort zone, playing the more serious and focused member of the team, growing more likable and interesting during the mission. Plus he earned himself 2 points as the co star of Some blood falling in the Forest. Zed: 17 (+2) = 19 Sebastian Dash is up next, fifth place, 16 points. Dash earned his points not with a single standout piece but consistent quality throughout multiple appearances. Oh, and we got to see him make out with Katherine. Dash: 16 points. Following Dash and earning 14 points for sixth place is Becky Joy! Yay, Becky! The voter called her 'always a hoot,' although we see her smarter and more serious side early on as she tries to reason with Cattaras, who's anger was blinding him to the bigger picture. Becky also gets a co write with Sassy Snake and one with Gail, who are next on the list! Becky Joy!!: 14 points Sassy Snake is back, taking Seventh place. Well, second to last, but she's back which is good! She did her magic in a co-write with Becky where we got to see Sassy dealing with the problems from post last mission before the two head out. Includes typical fun game playing with Becky and Sassy. Sassy picks up two points for Most Unique Writing style! Congrats, Sassy. This marks the first time a character and a roleplay have split the same award! Voter Ichiro compliments her style, saying he adores it. In his own words, "Her style and presences can completely take over a piece, and it is so uniquely constructed, I am continuously drawn to it." That earns her two points. Two well earned points. Sassy Snake: 10 (+2) = 12 points Finally, Gail rounds out the ratings at 8 points. Gail was only in a single co write, like Sassy. Awakensun: 8 points The ninja mission seemed a little more active overall, thanks in large part to the first four or five listed. It also took its share of awards. Coming in as the winner is another Mitch character. Todd Blackpaws takes 20 points! Like Fahari, Cattaras and Zed, Todd also got compliments for stepping out of his normal humor and playing it serious at times, although in Ichiro's words, "he still was able to bring the silly." Oh, and Todd has an award too. 1 extra point for best chemistry, with Wildfall. "This one was tough to pick from, a lot of people did very good bouncing off of each other," Ichiro said, but he went with "Windfall and Todd though, since they almost matched each joke for joke in several pieces." I enjoyed seeing the two in action as well. Todd: 20 (+1) = 21 points. Wildfall takes second! I did pretty good this mission, just not as good as Mitch. Cited as "just fun to read" and "likeable," the voter cited him as "silly (and) kinda awkward at times." I especially like the part where he's called an "endearing character." He spent most of the mission playing off of Fumblies and especially Todd. Speaking of... Plus 1 point for best chemistry, with Todd. The voter said they joke around like old friends even though they really met briefly in Mirrorworld and again in Holiday. And the "Wildfall friends" brings me a couple extra points!
Plus 1 point for Best new NPC - Old Man Ninja! Seen in "The Wildfall friends." I wrote him and all his lines so I'll take credit here, even if he does 'resemble' a previous old ninja man slightly.
As voter Ichiro put it, "Old man ninja was awesome, and this line shows exactly why." Wildfall: 19(+1+1+1) = 22 Next up, Sir Fumblies scores 18 points and third place! Fumblies often scores high and for good reason. We got to see him with Todd and Wildfall as well as with Fahari early on. He got here a lot on effort instead of having one or two great moments. Of course, Fumblies is more than capable of stepping up to dominate or even win a mission at any time so I think we'll be seeing good rankings for him throughout AIL. Fumblies: 18 points Our next entry takes the third place Kadlin Bearsmasher, earned more in extra points than anyone else this mission, and I think more than anyone in Holiday. I'd have to double check that. Although her follow up solo was a little weak, she gets her points for the crossover piece with Konall, showing their separate paths of character development. She earns 16 points, plus the extras.
2 points for the Best solo piece for Crossover: Elevation. Which Voter Ichiro called a "kickass RP." A "beast entry" which as I stated, almost managed to win most dramatic piece as well.
Kadlin: 16 (+2+2+1) = 21 points! She is the last one to pick up points. Finishing us off, the space elves. Glyn takes the top spot, standing out a bit more than the others. 11 points for Glyn. Jen and Tarvel take 10 points each. The space elves are starting to become more individuals and less a mass of space elves with each mission; let's hope this keeps up. Finally, Raven pulls up last with 6 points. It would be nice to see more out of the character. Alright, get ready everyone! We've hinted at it, and spoiled it in various outlets, but our next mission will take us back to Hey Daze and alter AIL on a fundamental level. I'll also have more information about the plans to wrap up season two during the next mission. Joshua Dash/ Wildfall/ Becky Joy
SEASON POINTS to date Lot of names to go through, so I'll divide them into four (plus straggler ties) and comment on them, I think.
1) Sebastian Dash: 141 points
Yeah, Dash is still on top, but some people gained on him, including my own Becky Joy. Congrats! And look who else are top players; Konall and Fumblies. Well deserved, and both have the potential to become the top ranked winner of the season.
5) Cattaras Whiteclaw: 101 points
Next up we have Kadlin, Aleena, and Mitch's alts. Aleena's the highest ranked inactive character, which I don't imagine will change anytime soon.
10) Zed Shinestone: 67 points
There's my other alt, along with Cyber Sunset, who's in space with Aleena, Sassy Snake, who's made her comeback, and Zed, who's just plain cool and awesome.
14) Jen: 38 points
Here we see more space elves, and the inactive Ozzie, who could have been a huge player in AIL but basically vanished. Along with, as I said, the space elves. Ozzie and the four of them would have been an interesting meeting!
18) Raven: 21 points
Raven's working his way up. The other three haven't been seen much of lately.
22) Awakensun (Gail): 13 points
I'm glad that Gail is back at least, as the other names on the list have dropped to inactive.
26) Samus X-Treme: 9 points
Nothing to see here but us inactives, sittin' at the bottom of the list.
MISSION points!
