Aleena enters the mission!

Well, not exactly, but she's in the roleplay. Take a looksee.

 
Aleena watched as the action unfolded. Dash had opened up his senses to her when he felt her mind touch his. She could tell from his memories that the battlefield was mostly cleared out. Although that might be the wrong term as it was littered with victorious camps taking prisoners and more than a few corpses. Some enemies were tied up.

This time, Dash and his ex Katlana found themselves split off from the other two, Catrina and Jake, right before finding themselves in the most unlikely of crossfire, with Woodenknuckles and Zoombas on one side and an evil alliance of W Imps, G Imps, bugbears and spice demons on the other side. Loathing Kingdom monsters who didn't take too kindly to the influx of new rivals.

Dash didn't care for either group but sided against the Woodenknuckles. With Katlana by his side, they quickly took care of the Adrule intruders.

"And that.." Katlana turned and dropped a large Woodenknuckle, already on its last legs, with an energy punch. She turned back to her ex, Dash. "Is that."

Dash nodded. "Good.. Cover me for a minute? I need to focus on something."

"Umm.. sure."

Dash turned to an empty spot in the field and focused. A second later, the vestige of Aleena appeared before him- and only him.

"It is done, Sebastian. I've thrown the glaive down a black hole. It will never trouble anyone again."

Aleena's avatar glanced about the battlefield. "I see you've been busy."

Dash nodded. "Once the tower started crumbling, most of the groups took their leave. The rest kept battling each other, but the worst is over."

Katlana looked from Dash to the empty field he was staring at. "Are you talking to someone?"

Dash turned to her. "I'll explain later."

Katlana shrugged. "Alright.. I'll go track down Catrina and Jake. Have fun."

Dash waited until she was off a bit and then turned to Aleena. "Sorry about that. So no complications with the glaive then?"

"Without some agent to act on its behalf, its powers to do anything about its situation are limited. We didn't have much trouble with it." The elf queen gestured to a diagram that appeared. It depicted a black circle and a green circle, labelled 'event horizon' and 'glaive'. The green circle approached the black one. In her handwriting across the top it read, "Goodbye, evil blade!"

Dash watched the replay from three different angles, then asked, "Why does this planet shimmer when the glaive goes into the black hole? Because it's from here?"

"Hmph. What are you talking about?" Aleena asked.

Without thinking, Dash manipulated the replay. As the glaive went into the black hole yet again - and believe me, that never gets old - Dash touched the image of one of the planets. "See, it shimmers when..." Before Dash could continue, the image zoomed in to show a topical map of the Loathing Kingdom. The entire battlefield shimmered on the map. The words "Dimensional anomaly" flashed in small red letters over the map. "I didn't see that before."

"Neither have we," Aleena said, switching to that tone she uses when speaking officially. She held back a sigh, switching back to a more familiar tone. "Your planet seems fated to be the source of a lot of wierd. I'll have some people look into this, and get back to you on it."

"Hey Dash!" a familiar voice called out. Katlana's current boyfriend.. Or whatever. Dash looked over. Jake continued. "Ya better come with. Kat and me are startin' to pick up on some really weird energy readings from around the tower. Catrina said maybe you could make heads or .. um.. butts out of it."

"I suspect I'll see you soon, Sebastian Dash. Be well." Aleena waved her farewell and broke contact.

Dash started to wave, but she was already gone, so he and Jake went to join the ladies.

See? She is there, but not in person.. yet. Still, it's really cool to see Dash and Aleena interact again. Oh, plus the glaive story is officially brought to an end!

Of course, in true storytelling fashion, that sets up developments that could potentially end up being even worse.. eventually.

Next up, let's get back to Wildfall and the mysterious ninja prince.
