KOKOL: Preventing a Cat-astrophe
Mission:  CatBird: Search or Rescue
subtitle: Starring Cattaras Whiteclaw, Jen & more!

As you'll see, this is a follow up to the events of the Rollover on the KOKOL side. There's a bit of cursing in it but just a bit.

I included little character introductions, in big part because it's a new season and we're getting new players. The voter quote liked them.

Prelude by Dash

Prince Blahking stood outside of the Council of Loathing's building, rubbing his forehead and softly muttering to himself, "Dear merciful Jarlsberg, I've never known a group that could cause a migraine as fast as those council members."

With a sigh, Blahking looked up to the building. "No time to waste, though. Jen's going to need some backup, no doubt. And that's only going to be the start of it..."

Catt crashed through the foliage in the general direction of is target, his mind more set on his thoughts and those of another than on the scenery, which he moved through at near his top speed.

For these of you new to the story, let's meet the cast.

Cattaras Whiteclaw. Martial arts specialist. Tiger hybrid. Overprotective loving brother. Able to convert his chi (spiritual energy) into near superhuman speeds. Nice guy and general mega-bad ass.

Anything else from her, love? That was his main concern after his love had relayed to him news of the ambush- and who was involved.

Especially who was involved!

"Get there as fast as you can, love! I'm on my way," Jen shouted over their link.

As in Princess Jen. Morlencir (space elf) fighter with a nanotech cysuit designed for combat. "Princess" is her military rank. Another bad ass.

Tell me that twice and it will be… Goddess!

Catt skidded to a stop face to face with the one person who had twisted his mind in the past. And yet this wasn't Daisuke, it was …

Any thoughts on how 'this was just the mask controlling him' were swept away as Catt saw the big tiger's fists. Covered in blood!

Daisuke. Catrina's ex, twice over now. Exceptionally strong and dangerous. Lion hybrid. Was something of a mindless brute before being subjected to the Spooky hockey mask, which made him meaner, tougher, faster, and controlled by. . . we won't spoil that yet.

He roared, leaping without thinking- only to have his leap cut off mid attack by another! Specifically, Cattaras found his path blocked by an imposing figure in obsidian badassium armor, while another force, faster than even Cattaras, attacked him from behind.

Catt growled something that usually he heard from Jen - and then as in an 'order.' He was driven to the ground by the sneaky rat, twisting and throwing elbows full force into his attacker.

A member of Trinity, which consists of Jerome, Mortimer, and Stewart. Members of the widely despised ratlike Muri-Dan. All three move as fast as Cattaras, or faster. They're real jerks, too.

As Black Paladin moved to help, Cattaras could swear he heard a shrill siren coming from above.

Black Paladin. Cloaked in badassium armor, covering him from head to toe. Armor was later upgraded by Kadlin Bearsmasher. Uses a variety of weapons. Usually seen riding a powerful black steed. Silent but deadly. Literally, as he never speaks.

As he looked up, he realized it was a shrill "Wheeeeeeeeeee!" sound, coming from Becky who was falling straight at the group. As she got closer, though, Becky suddenly shifted her focus from falling to using her natural gifts to create a windstorm, aimed directly at the Paladin. It had the side effect of slowing Becky's fall.. but she was still coming in hot. So to speak. Cattaras growled that word again as he tore away from Jerome and dived, catching the missile mage and rolling with her.

Becky Joy. Ice mage. Exceptionally silly, with an almost childlike charm. Wields the power of ice magic, and is able to manipulate it - as seen above- into brutal icy winds. Cattaras is fond of her in a big brotherly way.

"That better not be Morlenciri blood, bitch!" Jen cried, following close behind Becky, fists leading specifically for Daisuke's snout.

Catt's own rage- and his own fears- were redoubled with the link between himself and Jen as he battled with Jerome.

"If it is, or even if it is human, you will all regret it!"

Jerome laughed. "Funny, I don't seem to recall you having any problems with his blood on your claws, kitty!"

"Shut it, cheese for brains." Was the tiger's answering growl. "Another time and place, maybe. Back when I was young and stupid."

Black Paladin attempted to sneak up behind Cattaras but Becky continued her assault on the Paladin, hurling snowballs and icicles at him. "Bad evil guy! Stop it! You don't do that!" The action was enough to break Catt's attention on Jerome, though, a mistake that the Muri- Dan was quick to take advantage of, landing several powerful blows to the tiger's body before Catt could respond in kind. Becky moved to help, but was forced to keep her attention on the Paladin, who was fighting through her strongest attacks, moving relentlessly towards her.

Meanwhile Daisuke caught the elf's fist before it struck his face, applying pressure to it in a way that any non armored being would call 'bone crushing.' The same cysuit that protected Jen quickly grew spikes, which started to glow white with heat, but Daisuke refused to let go despite now being in agony himself. It was obvious, even under the hockey mask.

Catt groaned, not from anything Jerome was doing, but with the sudden realization as the link he shared with his mate telegraphed her next move. He felt her confusion when Daisuke refused to release her hand, and an unspoken question if it was alright to continue, knowing that Daisuke would probably be put through a great deal of agony before his end.

Jen hesitated.

He deserves everything he gets, love! Came his heated thought, Though be careful, Daisuke was always tough even before that… thing.

Jen saw Daisuke's hockey mask, and through Cattaras, understood that it was not natural. She reached to try to tear it from his face. Daisuke stopped her, grabbing her wrist in a way that threatened to overpressure even her cysuit's resistance.

"Didn't learn the first time, did you?" Jen asked. Cattaras winced again when needles grew out, piercing the lion's paw. She routed a burst of shocking energy from her power pack through her spikes. Enough to bring down any large mammal in her experience.

It's not that he doesn't learn. He just can't care! Catt's thoughts were almost a warning as Daisuke snatched back his paws- then did what he had stopped Jen from doing, only more powerful and directed at her face!

"I'm runnin out of room here!" Becky called, unleashing her most powerful ice storm on the Black Paladin, who'd backed her up against the side of the mountain, blocking any possible escape.

Jen went down from the blow, the bigger lion crashing down on her, raining blows down on her just like he'd done to that bitch earlier, an emotionless killing machine! Luckily Jen's cysuit took the brunt of the attack, but still the elf inside was in trouble!

And then, just as suddenly, it was over as the big lion looked off into the distance- and then followed his gaze, leaving the battle.

Catt felt relief feeling the mind of his mate- however weakly- but still he growled as the blood of two of the women he loved was now in those fists making him fight even harder to get to Him!

As this happened four Goblin Brutes appeared on the scene having been ordered to move ahead to even the odds of the battle. Upon arriving on the battlefield, one of the Brutes went after Black Paladin with a loud roar while the others hit the Muri Dan.

Mortimer turned to glare at the group's incoming leader. "Not him again!"

"I can leave and take the reinforcements I brought with me." Came a gruff voice that was familiar to the experienced adventures in the party. "But I'm taking Cattaras, Jen and Becky with me."

"We're done here, anyway," Mortimer called out. "Fall back, boys. We did our job. No time for this shit."

The Brute kept on fighting their targets while Sir Fumblies stood a short distance from Mortimer.

Sir Fumblies. Half-orc in wizard's robes. Obviously, a wizard. Also, the commander of the Blood Clan. Also wields a crystal sword. Also charming, strategic, charismatic, and a little clumsy. We won't get into the whole 'child's ghost in Fumblies' armor' thing right now.

While this went on, several Goblins could be seen moving towards the downed KOKOL combatants to check on them. Even beaten Catt moved to Jen's side, checking on her with the last shreds of strength he had left. Meanwhile, the Trinity, as they're prone to do, vanished, retreating at superspeed. The Paladin, the only one left, powered his way past a couple brutes and leaped off the side of the mountain. As he fell, his trusty black steed leaped in the air, seemingly out of nowhere, to catch his master. The two raced down the mountains as if it were the Nearby Plains.

"Looks like I showed up just in time." Fumblies commented as he looked over the retreating enemies. As the enemies left, a pair of Goblins found Becky passed out by a rock near where Black Paladin had ran from as he departed. The pair picked up the fallen commander before bringing them to the rest of the group for healing.

How'd ya like?

I think it ended up with a pretty solid 'super hero' piece to it. Great action, of course. Plus we used solid, established enemies. It also sets up an even better battle later on, just like in a great movie! The voter was fond of my little character introductions. I liked 'em too.

I should mention here- the piece got the award for "best RP title," which went to Cattaras. The voter liked the pun, saying the more groan-worthy, the better. Lil tip for those trying to maybe win this award in the future? Heh.. Like the voter said, "Puns are great."

This mission started off with a big action scene and got this battle to follow it up. The Rollover for the next mission starts off a little slower. (No roleplays up for it.) But things are going to calm down for a while on this mission; next up, we're doing the follow up to the rescue by the Fumblies Command.
