MISSION INFORMATION This is the out of character mission information and RP Notes for the extremely successful Catbird mission, split up into two exciting quests. Plus rankings to date.
As mentioned often elsewhere, we had 27 roleplays total, aside from the two quest setup. So there's a lot here. MISSION INFO
Pieces missing notes:
Fun(ish) fact: The general concept of a mission notice is actually a homage to the two games that inspired AIL's ruleset, although in the original game, I believe they were called "job notices," since the set-up of the game was players played assassins. I had to change a lot of terminology for AIL... But onto this mission in particular... Note This is a split mission. Meaning there's two Quests. You pick one and title you roleplays appropriately. I'll list notes on each mission option for your convenience. If you have questions, ask here! Sorry the first mission Rollover is so long, by the way. I wanted to cover Catrina, Aleena and Dash being ambushed. Plus there's two separate goals, as you can see in the Rollover for CatBird. Edit 1: See below for notes on finding/ using/ losing the Toot!
- "Search" - This is the KOL Council-centric story. I tried to avoid putting too much AIL lore here, but I had to put the 'darkness' settling in over the mountains. It's mostly an undefined thing; I just want it there to make the mountains feel more dangerous than usual. If you've read the last two missions of season 2 and want to do something with the darkness, feel free. Use your creativity. If you don't, just ignore it and keep in mind this part of the area might be a little it more dangerous than usual. The darkness itself is presumed to be mindless. Note: I'll be adding a reply to this with notes that apply to both missions. Be sure to check it out! For example: It is not Crimbo season in AIL story terms. So it's definitely not winter. More likely, it's closer to spring. If you are doing this mission, start your RP title with "Search: " or some variant. Here's some examples.
Search: Meetings or Eatings
If you're not familiar with KOL or just want information, ask here or check out the KOL wiki, although keep in mind some parts of AIL have developed a little differently than the KOL game. Some of those sites have a write up under the library section under Typical Tavern on the AIL forums. Of course, you can general make things up if you want, depending on the story and scenario. That works okay too. Edit 1: I forgot to mention the Toot itself! Here's how I figure this can work. First, in keeping with KOL/ AIL history, feel free to find the Toot during the mission. But each time he sees you, I'm thinking have him act/ talk differently than the last time. Also, yes, you can find him but you should have issues keeping him. Maybe he flies away, or just vanishes, or maybe you mess up and do something stupid and scare him off.. or maybe you just get attacked. But since you can't win the mission during roleplaying, well.. just keep that in mind. And maybe let the bird go so others can use him in their roleplays.. If you want to dig into this mission without knowing AIL's backtsory, that's fine, although it helps. If you are doing this mission, start your RP title with "KOKOL: " or some variant. For example...
KOKOL: How Wildfall met Alys
That's about it! Watch roleplaying from Aleena, Dash and / or Catrina for more information on some of the Elite 8 used in the Rollover who weren't yet mentioned by name. Although we have an idea of where the trio are kidnapped, if the roleplays suggest something else, we'll roll with that as best we can. Don't be afraid to try tossing in a major plot twist or development in the story, like a new enemy. Sure, you can talk to me or other players about it, but you don't have to. As long as we keep things mostly consistent, we might as well keep the story developing as it goes! If you're doing a co-write where all the writers are on the same mission, you'll just give it the title of that mission. However, if you're doing a co-write that has at least one writer from both missions, use the Xover title instead. Edit 2: Added the first four Bonus Mission Awards to the points section. Examples:
XOver: Missing assignment
One of the things I'd like to do to improve the missions and make things more interesting is try to keep the story open, so individual players (or players doing co-writes), feel free to put in twists that might change how the story is going and/ or open up new storytelling possibilities. Remember to make use of the RP notes to keep notes on each roleplay or co write after it's posted. Let's try out new things and try to get enough player characters on each mission to make it interesting. Points: I'll post more about this after talking to voter Ichiro again. Basically, though, missions with a standard amount of roleplaying give 25 points to the winner. But our voter has room now to give up to 5 points more or less as the maximum, depending on overall quality and quantity, basically. I'll also have information on awards after talking to Ichiro. We decided what we wanted to do.. but I can't find where I wrote it down.. oops. ----- Edit 2: Points and awards are awarded per mission. Meaning each mission has a separate winner, runner-up, ext. and one winner (or possibly set of winners) for each award. Points don't affect mission ranking but do affect overall season ranks. The voter reserves the right to not hand out awards for any reason, including a lack of suitable nominations. Here's our first four possible awards. There's going to be two awards worth three points each. This is the first time I'm handing out an award worth so many points because these are things we'd like to actively push. Note: When we say "plot" in these two, we're talking more about the overall plot than your personal stories, although if a plot pushes both, all the better. We're looking at the potential for something that other people can use in their stories too. Best plot twist/ most dramatic moment: Basically, this is a moment in a co-write or solo where something big happens. The plot twist. Something that adds a new twist or changes the story a bit. We want to encourage people to try new things. We haven't pushed this kind of thing often, but we want people to start being more ambitious with it. We'll try to work out any story kinks as the story moves along, so don't worry if that happens. Like I said, players should have the freedom to add their own twists in on a game like this. Best plot progression piece - This will go to the best co-write or solo which progresses the plot through any use. It's based on the entire roleplay. This includes plot twists, though we're mostly looking for overall advancement of a plot. Taking a previous twist, or a part of the original story, and exploring it. Moving the story forward. These two more traditional awards are worth two points each. Note that in this case PC - player character- refers to an approved character, who has a bio up (or has one pending, and is playing with permission) and is eligible for points in a mission. Best solo: This is for any roleplay that only uses player characters (or non player characters) from a single handler, even if it includes multiple PC's from the same player, even in unrelated parts of the story. This also includes stories with only a player's character(s) and NPC's or writing / editing from other handlers. Best Co-write: This, by contrast, is a piece with at least one player character each from two or more writers. The stories don't have to intercept to quality (although that and chemistry obviously help). That's it! If we're active enough, we might add more, so get to planning, plotting, writing and co-writing! ----- Deadline: Same as above, but I'm pretty sure we'll have at least ten weeks for roleplaying. Have fun with it, everyone! J/ Wilde These are the notes for Search! Put notes for x-overs here as well! "KOKOL: " already has a own threads for that, plus Xovers. (Post a crossover note in both.) Anyway, RP notes go here. Put the summery of what happens in your RP. If it's something other players need to know at a glance, even if it's a spoiler, put it here. This is for the mission where we're all out trying to find the Toot, which is easy. However, the goal is also to bring him to the Council, so don't let that happen during roleplaying. You could have the Toot fly away on his own- he's weird like that. Or someone steals him, or you lose him. Whatever. It's sort of like RP hot potato to the writer. Get rid of the Toot, or fail to get him.. even though your PC is presumably trying to get the Toot back to the Council! Have fun with it. If there's things you want to make other players aware of coming up in future RP's, you might put that here as well. This'll make it easier for us all to keep track of what's going on with roleplaying at a glance. J/ Wilde Sassy decides she's going to the mountains to look for the Toot, and troll Brindle is going with her. Meanwhile, Icy and Bristle are staying behind, skipping the missions and generally being in love so they want time to get to know each other. Bristle mentions his horrible, sadistic family lives in the mountains. Oh, and Sassy stops to help a turtle along the way which nicely establishes she can't talk to turtles, just snakes. Clever lil bit of writing by her handler there, if I say so. (I didn't get to his 'in' to the Toot mission, even.) Sassy and Linger make their way up to the mountains to look for the toot. Since there's a bunch of adventurers looking for the bird, Linger suggests taking a steeper, more dangerous path. It's filled with snakes, but Sassy talks her way past, being able to talk to snakes and all. Sassy talks to a rattlesnake named Rascal the Rattler, who claims the Toot isn't around the mountains. Sassy promises not to aggravate the local snakes. While Linger and Sassy Snake make camp, elsewhere, Rayvon confronts Bris and Icy who are having a nice romantic stop in South Degrassi. Rayvon claims she's worried that Sassy might be insane. The happy couple aren't buying it, so Rayvon continues to plot. Oh, just a lil look ahead. In the next planned piece, Sassy runs into an adventurer who claims not only isn't the Toot in his nest but there's no clue to where the bird might be. So keep that in mind as you write.. In "Old (young) friends reunited," Wildfall runs into a girl whom he fails to recognize at first, after she fought off some "Goblin Imps" - though we didn't actually get to use that name in the piece, heh. Anyway, it's Mary Katherine, who knew Wildfall from growing up in Ireaca.. she is a lil younger than him.. but obviously a capable fighter already. After a lil teasing, Wildfall offers to walk her back to town. Cute lil piece! Wildfall and Mary K are surrounded by thugs. Before Wildfall can talk his way out, Mary's temper gets the better of her and they end up fighting the thugs off. Todd then steps in to use his music to charm the rest of the thugs out of wanting to fight and meets Mary. There's a lot of character development, though, starting with Mary's temper, and Wildfall lecturing her on battle techniques.. and on focusing on the battle. There's also Todd hitting on Mary, which makes Wildfall maybe a bit jealous? He mentions Todd's girl Lapine, even implying Todd's talked about marriage! Mary gets a lil annoyed that a supposedly allegedly 'to be married' foxbard is hitting on her. Todd tries explaining it's just the nature of their relationship (with him being a vulpine and her being a bunny.) Todd is none to happy with Wildfall about his lil comment either. Mary then ushers Wildfall into town, saying they have to stop by Market Square, and that he has to find a place to live in Seaside Town. So the two split up from Todd for now. It introduces four elves. Lyre lies all the time. Tickle, well, tickles a lot. Sassy has to mostly deal with the liar this time around, but eventually, she learns his trick- he always speaks the opposite of the truth. She gets him to lead her to Seaside Town where she meets Father Crimbo. (Oops, spoiler.) Along the way, she hears what she is sure is an oriole singing. Linger also worries his dangerous family might be out here in the dark. At the end, Father Crimbo invites Sassy, Bad Luck Blorf (from the last roleplay), and Linger to, well, linger around for supper with him, haha. Mary's there shopping for fruits and healing potion ingredients, by the way. Starts with them dining at Father Crimbo's of course. We learn about Jack, who is poisoning everyone. Crimbo is surprised to hear he's resorted to poisoning people. Rayvon's interlude makes it clear she and her mistress are allied with Jack, and that Rayvon wants Sassy dead. Sassy runs into the mage she freed when she also freed Rayvon and Icey. The mage is guarding an "O" formation in the rocks, which is magical or something. While the elves run off after Jack, Rayvon shoots arrows at Sassy and then runs off. Linger correctly figures this is all very dangerous and wants to leave the mountains, but Sassy doesn't want to leave until they find that Toot.
Wildfall meets up with Mary's father, who is angry that she was out of town but quickly forgives her.
Into Rayvon's Darkness! Sassy wakes up to find one of the two elven guides, Tickle, ran off. It's too dark to follow him but he soon returns with a dead rabbit, which it turns out Rayvon gave him, and a bottle of wine, which he found laying around in the mountains, rather than in a barrel. Turns out Tickle seems to have a drinking problem. He drinks the whole thing and splits the rabbit with the other elf, Lyer, before passing out. However, Sassy is woke up in the middle of the night by her troll friend Linger, who says Tickle's vanished again. Since it's a bit dangerous, Sassy and Lyer go out to find where he's gone. Turns out he's with Rayvon. Rayvon talks both elves into staying. After they pass out, she threatens Sassy, who returns to camp. But only after she implies Uncle Crimbo is going to take the two elves for slave labor! Sassy returns to camp alone and talks to Linger. The two decide they need to get off the mountains in the morning. In the morning, they talk to the wizard Rodrigo, who reveals Rayvon, her elf assassin Jack, and the two other elves went into the O and were trapped by some actions by the trolls. He is devastated that the "O" is sealed off but agrees to go with Sassy and Linger down the mountain. They run into Linger's huge brother (Boulder), who pushes the ice walls open- then pushes the ice walls close to try to trap Linger into staying in the mountains. But when he runs off, Rodrigo takes advantage of the troll's actions, which might have resealed the wall, but failed to reseal the magic. Rodrigo is able to slowly burn his way through the ice walls. Soonafter, they run across a battle scene, which it turns out is another attack by snow ninjas on Becky Joy and allies! (Becky's in the KOKOL mission, so this is a crossover.) Becky faints. Her goblin Goblina and Sassy recap what's going on so far. The co-write ends with them heading off the mountain and setting up camp. Becky recovers. But the rest will be saved for the next co-write! Phew, that was a LOT going on, especially for mostly being a Sassy Snake solo, up til the end! He's impressed by the size of it. She says her "Mum" wants to turn part of the house into a clinic. Wildfall and Mary finally kiss, and then make out, and then head to their (separate) rooms to rest for the night. It's pretty clear that Mary has dreamed of the kiss since their days in Ireaca in her youth. RP Notes on Wild and Todd's Excellent Adventure are pretty simple too. Todd doesn't seem to trust the Captain's motivation in taking Mary with him. Then he and Wildfall run across a strip mall in the forest and make fun of it. They then run across a most excellent couple of babes from the future.. Clueless babes, though. Heavy metal heads. The whole thing feels like the AIL version of When Bill and Ted met Wayne and Garth.. for 'some reason. That's my second When Harry Met Sally reference this mission. Anyway, the four take off together at the end. EDIT: Let's make these the notes for KOKOL. Put notes for x-overs here as well! "Search:" has it's own threads for that, plus Xovers. (Post a crossover note in both.) Anyway, RP notes go here. Put the summery of what happens in your RP. If it's something other players need to know at a glance, even if it's a spoiler, put it here. This is for the mission where you're attempting to find and save Catrina Whiteclaw, Sebastian Dash and Morlencir Queen Aleena! If there's things you want to make other players aware of coming up in future RP's, you might put that here as well. This'll make it easier for us all to keep track of what's going on with roleplaying at a glance. J/ Wilde RP notes are supposed to be spoilerly, though. Starts with a brief note that Blahking is planning to send help for Jen. Use that if you want an 'in' to this mission, players. Cattaras, out to try to rescue his sister, is ambushed by the Black Paladin and one or more Trinity members, formerly (?) of the Elite 8. Catt's former 'mentor' Daisuke is also there, and in a Spooky hockey mask which lets someone control Daisuke. Jen and Becky also show up, attacking from above, but eventually Catt, Becky and Jen find themselves in trouble. Luckily- oh, the spoiler is next. Sir Fumblies shows up to even the odds. Daisuke takes off for reasons unknown. Mortimer, stinging from his last defeat to Fumblies last mission, orders the Trinity to take off. Black Paladin too abandons the fight. Fumblies collects the unconscious trio of heroes and heads out to help heal them. Let us know if you plan to use Daisuke as we have plans for him. On the way to Ninja Village they find tree branches that they will later carve into bow staffs for weapons. All this is new to them and they are taking in the scenery. It will be explained in later posts as to how they arrived in the new world. As commandos and martial artists they are prepared for anything. But this will certainly test their skills. when they arrive in Ninja Village they will learn alot about their skills as well as themselves. Ninja Village will also be a safe spot for them to come to when needing a safe place. John and Sherri make their way to Ninja Village where they met up with an old man who took them in. They were tested and about to be given a mission. Their first mission in the new realm. Once re-nourished, they fought a gorlock creature as a test which they passed to the amazement of the old man. Next will come gathering information for the mission. Becky is heading to rest, honest, when she and Goblina notice Red and Green talking to some ninjas and a couple Knob Goblin, who say they were ambushed on the way to the camp. Upon hearing they'd left a couple ninjas behind and plan to go back to save them, Becky goes with, since the camp is suddenly really busy. (This will hopefully be expanded on in roleplays from Cattaras, Fumblies and Jen.) Becky goes with them and find the two injured ninjas... but a solid wall of ice appears as do snow ninjas. A wind attack sends a couple of the ninjas flying over the edge, but Becky covers them with her own icy winds as they retreat down the hill. Unfortunately, more of those snow wind walls appear, blocking them, forcing Becky and her crew to head away from the mountains instead of back to camp. The snow ninja attack is meant to show the effects of the darkness settling over the mountains, which is why it reads differently from a more straight-forward snow ninja attack. Hot on the heels of "Licking Their Wounds" this RP marks a confrontation long in the making between Cattaras Whiteclaw and the masked lion Daisuke! Even with the aid of his sexy Morlencirin princess mate Jen, it's going to take a miracle to pull this one of- will they get it? Like I'm going to tell you here! Honestly, "Into Rayvon's Darkness" is purely a Sassy Snake roleplay til the very end, and it mostly concerns the other mission. But it ends with Sassy coming across a battle between Becky Joy's crew and snow ninajs. This is yet another battle and goes down near the base of the mountains. Exhausted from the battling, Becky passes out. Goblina and Sassy catch each other up on recent events, with Sassy searching for the Toot while Goblina recaps Becky's adventures. See earlier notes for details. They set up camp just past the base of the mountains. More in next co-write hopefully. After Catrina and Dash discuss various things, Dash contacts Aleena again and gets an idea to use his nanites to cut the bonds tying Dash up, which he does. He goes to free Catrina, but first has to deal with muri-dan guards. Dash, half blinded by poison, and the still bound Catrina are able to deal with them though. Dash frees Catrina. They then go to deal with the bugbears guarding Aleena, and are able to get past them as well. Dash also runs into an alien (?) bugbear after trying to contact Aleena, who is raging out of control. It turns out to be a distraction. Dash returns to the real world to see Aleena, sobbing, and Catrina comforting her. Basically, though, Daisuke wakes up and explains he was trying to get help getting the mask off, as Cattaras guessed. He claims he wants to help them get his mate back. Time will tell.. Oh.. the co-write starts off with a tender moment with Jen and Cattaras discussing both this situation and their love life, so there's that. Can Daisuke be trusted? I'll talk about the new mission soon. For now, I'll focus on the mission we just finished. Congratulations to us, as well! In previous missions, we've only had four missions get at least 22 roleplay "pieces." (This count includes solo roleplays, co-written roleplays, Live RP's and an occasional Interlude piece.) Before this mission, the only mission to get more pieces than 22 was the "Holiday" mission posted in late 2011. It got 24 pieces. The recently concluded "Catbird" mission blew that away with an amazing combined 27 solo roleplays and co-writes! Congratulations to us. (The three roleplays that pushed us over the limit were posted over the final weekend, after the official "soft" deadline but before the voter concluded voting. So they counted for voting.)
This is our first official mission, Catbird. The name refers to the two quests. Each player chose which quest to commit each player character to.
There is separate voting for each Quest in this one. The voter also awarded eight "bonus points" awards and a winner for each Quest. The bonus points don't affect the ranking order for this mission but they do affect your "Season to date" ranking. I use my best judgement on who gets the points for the awards when required. A special 'thanks' to the voter for the sixteen awards and with the heavy roleplaying, I'd say we deserved them! Different factors go into considering what awards to give out each mission and how many points to make each worth. Factors like how heavy roleplaying we expect, how long we plan to keep roleplaying for the mission open, which goals and writing styles we want to encourage, and which we expect to see the most/ hottest competition for. First, I wanted to share the voter comments on Best RP title since it's useful general advice. ".. let's be real here, puns are great. And the more groan worthy, the better." So keep that in mind, everyone!
KOKOL - Cattaras Whiteclaw and Morlencir Jen tie for first place! Both characters are in four co-writes together, starting with the pair and Becky trying to figure out where Aleena, Dash and Catrina vanished to, only to be ambushed by multiple former Elite 8 members. Sir Fumblies shows up when the trio winds up in trouble. This roleplay earns Cattaras a point for "Best RP title" on the KOKOL side for "Preventing a Cat-astrophe." Voter Ichiro said he liked their smaller self-contained story within the larger mission. The voter also had kind words for the action scenes in both "Preventing..." and "Catfight!" with the battle in "Catfight!" taking the bonus points for "Best Action Set Piece." In fact, the voter commented that the first battle, with the heroes outclassed, helped set the tension for Jen and Cattaras vs. Daisuke. He called it a "well written battle." The two had very personal stakes in the mission goal - Cattaras is trying to save his previously estranged sister and Jen is out to save the Morlencir Queen Aleena. And the history between Daisuke, Cattaras and Catrina (with Dash and others thrown in) stretches back to some of AIL's earliest missions. Congratulations to Cattaras and Jen for tying for first place!
Cattaras - 27 points + 1 (Best RP title) + 1 (Best Action Set Piece)
Jen - 27 points + 1 (Best Action Set Piece)
As voter Ichiro pointed out, my ice mage Becky is really all over the place in this mission. She starts out with Fumblies, Jen and Cattaras and then gets her own solo piece which leads to a co-write with Sassy. She then wraps it up in a co-write with Blackeagle! The voter consistently had good things to say about Becky's "signature humor and charm," which added to the second piece with Jen, Fumblies and Cattaras. Voter Ichiro pointed to "Sassy goes Camping" as a piece where she really shines. Becky picks up an impressive four awards for this one! She gets "Best use of an NPC" for a single point. The voter's comment explains it best: "It kinda feels like cheating to give this to Becky, as she has the largest ensemble of consistent NPCs. Still, they all have great and defined personalities that enhance any piece they are in." Thank you, Ichiro! I even introduced new NPC's in the form of the ninjas, but they weren't really commented on. She also gets a point for Most Humorous Moment when she shows up to help Blackeagle in "Ambush in Degrassi." The voter called it "A good example of Becky antics getting enhanced by the characters around her." Here is the winning moment.
Finally, Becky takes two points for the best solo - "No Ninja Left Behind." Which I used to split Becky up to go off on her own. I'll just put the voter's comments here. "It feels like a standard Becky piece, but I have a soft spot for Becky pieces. Strong writing throughout, and all sorts of adorable." Becky is also in the best co-write for the Search mission for the crossover piece, Into Rayvon's Darkness. It's mostly a Sassy piece, so I'll save comments for it until later.
Becky Joy - 26 points + 1 (Humorous moment) + 1 (Best NPC use) + 2 (Best solo) + 2 (best co-write [Search])
Although they got off to a rough start, the voter admires the way their stories improve as they go, and is looking forward to seeing more of them in the future. Although we've seen them cameo in a Finale in a past mission, this mission is the first time they roleplayed, putting together three short solos and taking part in a co-write with Becky. Note Blackeagle consists of two people- John and Sherri. However, the team of two counts as a single player character. No awards for Blackeagle and so no bonus points. Blackeagle earns 24 points. Sir Fumblies has an impact early, rushing in to save the day for Cattaras and company. He's also in the follow up piece at camp with them but sadly, vanishes from roleplaying for the rest of the mission. No bonus points for Fumblies either. Fumblies takes 23 points. Dash, Catrina and Aleena were together for a single piece. And of course, rescuing them was the objective of the mission, which is partly why we held off on writing them for a while. The voter called it a "very strong piece.." but it was still only one piece. On the other hand, that single piece picks up three bonus point awards! The voter praised it as "great" and "really strong work," complementing the characterization, story and pacing. For best plot twist / most dramatic moment, the voter awarded it to the entire co-write. "Almost every moment of this piece had (me) gripping my seat," Ichiro said, complimenting a "real sense of danger" that helped him "get thoroughly sucked in." (Which is a lot better than thoroughly sucking, hehe.) "Darkest Hour" also earns Best Plot progression piece for having consistently strong writing, key plot points, and for its pure intensity. It also earns Best co-write for being "good, really good."
Sebastian Dash - 23 points + 3 (plot twist/ dramatic moment) + 3 (plot progression piece + 2 (best co-write)
Catrina Whiteclaw - 23 points + 3 (plot twist/ dramatic moment) + 3 (plot progression piece + 2 (best co-write)
She was in Darkest Hour, so she gets points for that, but she had a bit less presence. She still gets all the same points Dash and Catrina got for the piece!
Aleena - 22 points + 3 (plot twist/ dramatic moment) + 3 (plot progression piece + 2 (best co-write)
NEXT UP - SEARCH rankings! Although it had two less player characters in it (six vs. KOKOL's eight), the top two ranks earned more points than anyone on the KOKOL side. Ichiro also commented on liking the twists with Rayvon Wing and the elves, which was part of Sassy's multiple award wins for the mission. The voter also liked how things came full circle for Sassy with her last piece at the Oriole's nest bar. There is one more voter comment I want to share, and I'll let it speak for itself. "I think this piece made me figure out what improved so much with Sassy this mission. There were always a lot of NPCs with Sassy, but this mission there were a lot that were unique in very interesting ways." - highlight at Dinner at Father Crimbo's. Sassy earns the award for Best use of a NPC! He said he's "come to love being able to tell characters apart just on their accents and ways of speaking." He commented that Sassy pulled that off with each of her "ton of killer NPC's." Sassy also earned best plot twist/ most dramatic moment. It's the twist where the elf Tickle ends up being an alcoholic and refuses to return to camp with Sassy Snake, a "real dark turn" in the voter's eyes. A "change of pace from the usual problems faced in the KoL world.... everything didn't end up all sunshine and rainbows." The voter said this was well handled, and I more than agree. For the above reasons and for setting "a sort of connection between the two arcs," Into Rayvon's Darkness wins Best plot progression piece as well! The voter called it "really good overall," commenting, "Things can't just be solved with magic, violence, or even talking." Rayvon was kind of left hanging in the Finale so it will be interesting to see where things go for her in future missions. It's after all of that goes down in Into Rayvon's Darkness that Sassy's group runs into Becky Joy and Becky's group at the end. Thanks to that and for all of the reasons already mentioned, this piece wins best co-write on the Search side! Congratulations to Sassy on taking a full half of the awards for the Search Quest!
Sassy - 30 points + 1 (best use of NPC) + 3 (plot twist/ dramatic moment) + 3 (plot progression piece) + 2 (best co-write)
Sweet. Wildfall stars in a short solo, which the voter immediately said was "like an intro to a greater piece." Something he said the piece did quite well at. The voter later commented that the opening piece caused "every piece he was a part of (to be) just that much better." And there were quite a few pieces once Wildfall ran into Mary Kate, a younger friend from their days growing up in Ireaca. The voter also liked Wildfall's reaction towards Wildfall's friend Todd's advancements on Mary Kate. Mary and Wildfall star in co-writes together and with Todd and Alys in various combinations, with the voter saying Mary and Wildfall make great "foils" to each other at different points. It ends with a co-write with Wildfall and Todd, which the voter calls "classic humor" that feels solid, but it all starts with Wildfall's short, with him selling the home he had once shared with fellow Ireacan Summer. But it all starts with Wildfall's solo, Change in Air which wins Best Solo for the Quest! Voter Ichiro called it "a great little bit that makes everything else better." (TY!) Mary Kate debuts alongside Wildfall, and other than Wildfall's first and last, she's in every Wildfall piece for her debuting mission, which really helps the player Bina start finding Mary Kate's voice. She also gets to meet and interact with Alys and Todd Blackpaws multiple times, with voter Ichiro stating her best dialog comes in "Wildfall meets Mary's Father." Specific points on Mary that the voter praised are her acting as a foil to Wildfall, her culture clash with Todd and Mary's sweet relationship with her father, all of which ooze'd personality. And she's just getting started! Mary, Mary, quite the nice 26 points you earned here! Todd starts by flirting with Mary in his first few co-writes with the duo. Another co-write also features Alys, and Todd's there for the last co-write with Wildfall as well. Todd plays well off all three and although Voter Ichiro says he "feels very much like a background character for this mission," Ichiro also points to Todd's shining moments of humor and his backstory (earlier in the mission) as his highlights. Todd earns 25 points in tips. The wood elf, who debut the last mission in a series of co-writes, is here as well and gets to play off Todd, Wildfall and Mary. She is in a similar position to Todd, but with less presence and impact. Alys earns 24 points. Our turtle character is only around for a single roleplay, but that roleplay earns him three awards. Yay, Shelldor! Better Late than Never? gets best RP title. Ichiro - "To me, this title invokes this nature of a small child sorta shrugging their shoulders with a silly look on their face, which made me smile." Obviously, all of Shelldor's awards are from this one. (It was also funny in a meta-sense since he got it in late in the roleplay period.) Shelldor tripping up the snowman also earns him best action set piece, because voter Ichiro rightfully realizes that a turtle tripping up a ninja snowman is both awesome and hilarious. Finally, the "gruff narrator voice" in the solo earns Shelldor Most Humorous Moment. The voter loved the "wonderful dry tone," even though dry humor is hard to pull it off, saying it was done great here. "Quite high quality."
Shelldor - 22 points + 1 (RP title) + 1 (best action) + 1 (humorous moment)
Season 3 rankings through Mission #1: Catbird (April 25th, 2017) #2: Wildfall - 51 - Wildfall is knocked down to second place despite adding an impressive 30 points to his 21 points from the sample. #3: Cattaras Whiteclaw - 45 - He again ties with Jen, although he got an additional point this time for best RP title (KOKOL), pushing him to third. #4: Jen - 44 - Same story as Catt but without a best RP title bonus point. #5: Shelldor - 44 points - The turtle's snagged five 1-point awards from the first two missions combined! #6 (tied): Alys - 42 - She did quite well on both missions so far. Her fellow Wood elf, Iris, now has her bio up as well. #6 (tied): Todd Blackpaws - 42 - Todd's 25 points on this mission pushed him up- and a win in the next mission for Todd, which is always possible, could make him a season leader in a single mission potentially. #8: Becky Joy - 32 - She is currently the top ranked character who didn't score points (just a cameo) in the sample mission. She's also the highest rank Season 3 debut for this mission. She's also silly. Yay silly!
#9 (tied): Catrina - 31 - It's a little strange seeing Catrina so low on a Season ranking after debuting early in Season 1 and doing well since.
#11: Aleena - 30 - Aleena is an awesome character who will very likely be pulling in stronger rankings in the future. #12: Mary Kate - 26 - This is a very strong debut for Mary Kate, who will very likely rank even better in the future. #13: Blackeagle - 24 - Blackeagle already shows signs of improvement. It's up to the handler to keep improving on their stories and scenic descriptions. #14: Fumblies - 23 Only being in the early roleplays hurts Fumblies. If he can make a return in time to make an impact for the mission though, he could still be a future rankings leader.
