Hunt for the Mansion
Mission:  Mansion's Maniac Mysteries
subtitle: Snow's First Solo

Posted by SnowCatcuties
Original roleplay

I mean, you can tell by the text below the graphic on every page, but Snow designed the logos for this mission. I love having players (and sometimes non players) design us a graphic so I can show off the works of different people. Some of them, like last mission's by Mary Kate and this one by Snow- are extra good.

We're on the 4th piece of the mission already - it's SnowCatCuties solo debut! Which as you'll see, win an accolade.

SnowCatCuties had just been given some new information from Mary Kate to help her with her mission. With her navigation device in hand, she left her bike behind and headed to the Council Headquarters to find out more about Sebastian Dash and if he could help her. Along the way, she looked for a sweet store as she was starting to run low.

When she got to the Council Headquarters, she found no one around at that time. She called out but there was no answer. However, there was a notice board and on it was a notice saying, “Adventurers are requested/ required to clear out the haunted Spookyraven Mansion.” She thought back to the conversation with Mary and what she said about Sebastian. “Maybe he might be there. Besides, what’s the worst that could happen? I could at least help out and maybe get paid a bit.” With that in mind, she decided to head back over to the mansion. There was a little cafe along the way back that she didn’t see on the way over so she stopped for lunch. Mainly sweet things as always. She grabbed some to go as well.

On arrival, she noticed the crowd had dispersed and decided to press on. First she retrieved her trusty gadgets from her bike and made her way to the mansion. Getting closer, she saw movement and decided to get low. SnowCat got out her crossbow and looked down her magnified site to see what was going on. People from the crowd were searching for the edge of the forcefield. Looking around, she found a better vantage point to see from. A tall building? Perfect. Quickly, SnowCat gathered her things and quietly rushed to the top. The crossbow came back out. This time however, she detached the site and used it to see what the distance held. Using the site, she followed the force field around, hoping to find a gap in the force field. She soon found a couple of guys looking for the same thing.

“Look up there, it’s a girl,” a voice cried. “You’re not allowed up there!”

Startled at being noticed, SnowCat quickly re-attached the site and hid in a clever place. The person that saw her and his friend were soon on the roof investigating.

“There is no one here, you idiot,” said the friend, slapping the other round the back of his head.

“Ow,” said the first voice, holding his head. “I did see someone right there, it was a blonde girl with ears and she was holding something funny to her eye.”

“What do you mean she had ears? Of course she would have ears but there is no one here,” the friend replied, still looking around.

“No, not ears like ours,” the voice explained as he also started to look around. “It was cat ears, you know there furry type, and she definitely was up here.”

Starting to worry about being caught, SnowCat retrieved a ball-like object from her belt. It was a device she had made herself to throw and create a cloud of smoke. It let her move undetected while others around would be left confused. Her ball ready to throw, she waited to see if it was necessary.

“Look, there is no one here. If there was someone, you must have scared them off with your charming personality,” the friend said. “I’m going back down.”

“Hang on,” the voice said, having one last look around. “I'm coming.”

Feeling on edge but more relaxed, SnowCat waited a moment before leaving the roof. She had to remember not to be so careless. For a second, she thought she spotted a gap in the distance and moved to investigate.

I helped a lil with this one but it was mostly Snow's idea, and I think it is a pretty solid debut.

It was runner-up for the "Spooky scene" award, oddly enough. (It was worth a single bonus point.) The voter's comment sums it up: "While not quite spooky, it did a great job of building an intense and worrisome moment." The voter also mentioned liking the 'infiltration vibe' on this one.

It's definitely something to be proud of. But yeah, it was a fun short bit and a good continuing introduction to one of our new members. Next up, we're getting back to Mary Kate and Wildfall. Plus a bit of Koumori and a couple NPC's to add to the chaos!
