![]() Mansion's Maniac Mysteries - Season Three, Mission #3 Rollover and Finale written by Aleena, Sebastian Dash, Mary Kate O'Toole, Shelldor and Catrina Whiteclaw (Graphic logo courtesy of SnowCatCuties & SnowCat's Designs) Historical recap: Wow, has our version of the World of Loathing changed since the first adventures! The cast has grown and continues to grow this mission. Of course, the stories have changed quite a bit. Just like Season one started in the shadows of the backstory-only Peretene/ KOKOL war, Season 3 starts in the shadows of the world nearly ending in Season 2. Although many new adventurers fill our stories, several season two names such as Sassy Snake, Wildfall and Jen are still around. We've even still got names from all the way back in Season one, like Sebastian Dash, the returning Sir Fumblies and Cattaras Whiteclaw (although he wasn't properly a player character until sometime in Season 2). The effects of the events of the first two seasons, such as the collapse of the Knob Goblin Kingdom and the antics of the Penguin Mafia, continue to be felt into the newest Season.
The Story so far: That brings us to Season 3, of course. We started dealing with Season two leftover plot threads which continued into Catbird as several heroes were tasked with finding either a mission trio of KOKOL allies - Aleena, Sebastian Dash and Catrina Whiteclaw- while others sought out the legendary Toot Oriole (at least, the AIL version), who had been missing since the near-end of the world during Season 2. Afterwards, the focus quickly shifted to the Somber Six, with the current mission continuing that trend as a strange force field has appeared around the Spookyraven mansion shortly after the Finale during the last mission. Out of character wise, this is the mission that started while I was on a real world vacation with my family, a road trip to Maine, which was pretty much all around awesome. Not perfect but memorable and enjoyable. In terms of the AIL story, we see two debuts by player characters. Of course, there's all kinds of new NPC's here as well. By the end of this mission, we'll have seen five of the Somber Six, in fact. So that's pretty big, as they will probably be our mission focus for several missions still to come. As mentioned, Iris and SnowCatCuties both debut this mission. Sir Fumblies makes a huge return! Koumori's here too as our adventurers and heroes are mostly baffled by the force field surrounding Spookyraven mansion (and the nearby buildings). . . Feature character: Iris debuts! Although only seen in a single solo roleplay, it's a whirlwind of a ride, covering her present and background- oh and it introduces a Somber Six member! It's quite the exceptional piece, I'd say! She debuts a little later in the mission.
Seaside Town adventurers and others around the force field: Bob, Bristle, the Council of Loathing (and lackeys), Uncle Crimbo, Dottie, Watt "Sparks" Farrad, two Knob Goblin brutes, Gem, Bob's ghost pickle on a stick, a goblin dock worker, Bob's grue, Hardwire, Linger, Doser Crystal Ice, Blizzard "Frosty" McChilledice, Sailor McGuffin, a panda monk, Carlo Penno, lil Pete, random adventurers around the forcefield, random Knob Goblins, several young ninjas, Shelldor, Bob's spooky gravy fairy, Bob's spooky pirate skeleton, Tomato, a trio of Vikings, and a wounded town guard. Others: Alys, Arena Suzie's baby yeti, Todd Blackpaws, Burly Sidekick (cameo), candy shop assistant, the child ghost in Sir Fumblies' armor, Cottonmouth Joe, the council of ninjas, a council scribe who mumbled, an elf or two, Fahari, Finn, forest folk, four Quiet Healers (cameo), "Gobs' Gadgets" shopkeeper, Knollish folk, Lumber the clumsy troll, a martini drinking Council penguin, Omar, Naomi, ninja village elder, ninja village guards, old timey ninja, Pete's snake friends, the Protagonist (cameo), random ninja kids in training, two spitting sabre-toothed limes, Spunky Princess (cameo), arena Suzie, and Catrina Whiteclaw.
The mysterious force field: Although not an enemy in the traditional sense, it manages to befuddle, confuse, and foil the attempts of our heroes to get past it- so I guess it did the job of a force field pretty well. Co feature group: The Somber Six make their first impact as a group on this mission. Note: Some of the enemies listed as Somber Six allies (or under Miscellaneous) are speculation as we're not yet sure who is working for them and who isn't. Somber Six & lackies: Boss Bat, Groar, Groar's unnamed 6'6" dwarven buddy, Trinity member Jerome, Trinity member Mortimer, Trinity's Muri-Dan thugs, Ratfink, Baron Von Ratsworth, Ratworth's minions, Renaissance Giant, six skeletal rats, Lord Spookyraven, thug rat guards, and Thug rats. Miscellaneous: Bones (cameo), a space bugbear (cameo), clown rock clowns (seemingly endless), Blake Cutler (cameo), a charging burning beast (cameo), Kwadlin (cameo), an unnamed mindbender (cameo?), a muri dan thief, the Black Paladin, an invading accordion thief, Jester King of Beasts, and four goblins (cameo).

Information |
Rollover & Mission Notice | Dash and Mary Kate | no |
When Council member Carlo Penno learns his assistant Dottie's young daughter is missing, he agrees to help her search for the kid. Turns out the daughter (Pete) is playing with dangerous snakes. Dottie is able to get the girl away from the snakes, but as they head home, they're confronted by thugs. They try to escape, only to be cut off by a force field which surrounds both Spookyraven manor and several houses around it! Pete gets through and heads to tell the Council about it.
The next morning, the Council send out a request / requirement for Adventurers to get past the force field and clear it out of all rats, bats, thugs and Somber Six members. |
"What's Pong With Him" | Sassy Snake | No | Sassy, Linger and Icy reflect on the battle at the end of the last mission, where Rat King and two Trinity members took their street urchin Mole. Bob, Omar and Naomi offer to track down Mole while Sassy's trio decide to focus on Bristle, who didn't show up at the Tavern as expected. Sassy then runs across a man who is acting very oddly and treats him with Pong fruit. Turns out he might have been affected by a mindbender. . . |
Here Comes The Snow | Mary Kate and SnowCat | Yup! | After helping Wildfall to her house so he can rest, Mary Kate sets out to get news from the Council on a possible new job, still wondering why people (including Wildfall) don't seem to see she can take care of herself. She runs across SnowCatCuties, a bounty hunter looking for information on her mother as well as the Somber Six. Mary can't help on either of those (or finding a doctor); she's still new to town. Mary suggests Snow talk to the Council of Loathing or Sebastian Dash and the two part ways. |
Pleasure Before Business | Mary Kate and Wildfall | no | Mary Kate wakes Wildfall from a nightmare, leading the two to literally butt heads when he sits up. She tells him about her strange meeting and her own nightmare, which she woke up from and kissd him. This leads to more kissing between the two and Mary removing her top - although Wildfall stops it before it goes too far too fast. (Mary isn't initially happy but trusts his judgement.) |
Hunt for the Mansion | SnowCatCuties | no | Snow Cat heads to the Council of Loathing and finds information on the current mission. She heads to a rooftop to scout out the forcefield surrounding part of the town. She's quickly spotted and tries to avoid the two individuals who come to investigate. |
Love Hurts | Koumori, Mary Kate and Wildfall | no | Wildfall and Mary enjoy a quick shirtless/ topless meal, dress and head towards the mansion to see what's up. Koumori watches briefly. Wildfall makes the mistake of suggesting they talk to "the cute redhead" for tips, which sets Mary into a jealous frenzy. She goes and runs into an old sailor friend of hers, "Boobs" McGuffin. Meanwhile, it turns out the "cute redhead" is part of the family that brought Wildfall's house earlier; she agrees to try to help Wildfall, Mary and the sailor (who thinks she's 'riff raff.') |
Battle RP: Aleena and Dash vrs. the Black Paladin! | Aleena, Cattaras, Dash and Jen | No | Aleena uses a little trick of the smoke gown to fool Paladin into fleeing from her and Dash. Dash nearly collapses from the previous battle but Cattaras is there to catch him. Jen helps Aleena and Dash clear their cybernetics so they can be used once more. Then Aleena explains Catrina vanished in a light with a bugbear. The four plan. |
Tomato Boobs | Mary Kate and Wildfall | none | Mary Kate's jealousy over Wildfall hanging with the cute redhead (Tomato) leads to the two trading insults until Mary goes to hit the other girl but nails Wildfall instead. She apologizes and McGuffin gets her to cool down. Tomato insists she isn't going after Wildfall and the four make up and try to make a fresh start. |
Dysfunction Junction | Mary Kate and Wildfall | no | Mary's still upset about Tomato being there, and Tomato and McGuffin are arguing. Tomato suggests they split up- and Mary insists she is going with Wildfall and doesn't care where Tomato and McGuffin go. Luckily, Wildfall suggests McGuffin be Tomato's mentor and the four split up. |
BC: Fumblie's Return [Part 1/2] | Sir Fumblies | kinda | Fumblies was last seen in a confrontation with Kwadlin. This piece picks up after that. It's just Fumblies and the spirit in his armor when he awakens - and it seems Fumblies might have time travelled. Fumblies sets off towards the village to try to determine how far back - or forward- in time he's been thrown. |
BC: Fumblie's Return [Part 2/2] | Sir Fumblies | no | Fumblies finds a ninja dressed in the style of ninjas 90 years ago- but it turns out the guy is just dressed for an "old timey ninja party" and Fumblies only went forward in time some number of days. (The ninja says he's been out of town for "months.") Fumblies asks about recent events. The town elder informs Fumblies that the elder sent Blackeagle to town to look for Fumblies, who then heads to the old timey ninja dinner before he sets off. |
Sassy and Crew look after Pete | Sassy Snake | no | While looking after Pete in a room at a local inn, Sassy, Linger and Icy reflect upon the force field and figure it's a Council-related thing. They have no idea how to break through it. Sassy speculates it might be a mindbender's doing but Icy seems skeptical. They agree to sleep on it and check back in the morning. |
Fumbles lost and found | Becky Joy, Blackeagle and Sir Fumblies | kinda | Blackeagle are starting to fit themselves into Ninja Village when one of the village elders informs them Sir Fumblies has been missing and Becky Joy (currently in Seaside Town) asked for their help in finding Fumblies. Later in town, Becky Joy runs into a rookie adventurer named Tomato. The two then find Sir Fumblies. They're joined by Blackeagle (after John and Sherri take some of the endless clowns near Clown Rock) and Becky leads the four towards the barrier. |
Up Against The Wall | Sassy Snake | no | Trying to determine if the force field is real, Sassy punches it. Her skinned knuckles prove it is. Sassy then detects a vibration coming from the force field, which gets the attention of local power/ energy expert Watt Farad, aka Sparks, who sets out to figure a way through the force field. Sassy decides to let him handle it and takes their new friend, young Pete, to see her "friends" that she keeps talking about. Turns out her "friends" are a nest of snakes, to Sassy's surprise. One of the snakes, Cottonmouth Joe, offers to help Sassy if she ever should need it. |
Mary Meets the Force Field | Mary Kate and Wildfall | no | Lil Gem tries to avoid being run over by Lumber's clumsy troll feet and others, so she hides behind a rock. Then she sees Wildfall and Mary Kate arguing how to get past the force field. Gem offers to help. Wildfall isn't sure he can keep an eye on both of them, but Gem's temporary partner Bristle shows up to offer their help. Mary touches the force field, gets a nasty jolt from it, and a crack appears. Mary freaks out over the idea she caused it with some kind of magic power, so she runs off. While Wildfall and Bristle try to widen the crack, Gem consoles Mary's fears. They figure maybe it's someone on the other side trying to break out. Gem assumes it must be her missing friend Mole! |
Falling Through The Cracks | Koumori, Mary Kate and Wildfall | no | Starts out silly enough with Wildfall singing about the physical exhaustion of beating on a force field, which Mary Kate finds quite cute. Wildfall thinks the noise was started for a bad joke; Mary worries she is the one who started it. The two are arguing when Bristle yells something about the hole starting to close. Wildfall tries to get Mary to touch the force field to create another crack but that fails, so Bristle has her look for the sound of the noise; turns out it's Koumori! He shows her how to use her inner chi to create a hole in the field, but that hole seals behind her, trapping her and Koumori! They run across Dottie and Penno. Dottie tells Mary about her daughter Pete and how they got into this mess. Penno and Koumori clearly don't trust one another. |
The Flame of the Iris | Iris | No | During Iris's epic debut, Iris sets off towards Seaside Town, reflecting on her past. We then flashback to see how she got her job aboard the then-Penultimate airship in spite of the Burly Sidekick being rather unsure of her. She proves her worth. Back in the present, Iris finds no jobs with the Council of Loathing, so she does a little shopping, reflects on a battle on the airship against an accordion thief (where she first showed them her fire powers) and heads to the arena to see familiars fight.
The arena has to be aired out after a certain battle, which causes Iris to remember when the ship was attacked and seized by their enemies, the Shinpire. The four quiet healers of the ship eventually tell Iris she has to go landside to clear her mind. Back in the present, Iris, after a few drinks, heads back towards the Plains, where she sees the Renaissance Giant lumbering towards town to join Lord Spookyraven. Iris heads to town with the intent of alerting the Council. |
Sweet Justice | SnowCat Cuties | no | While scouting from rooftops, SnowCat spots a 'half off all sweets' sale and goes to get herself some. Before she can shop, she spots a Muri-dan robbing the store, but makes quick work of him! She returns the stolen goods and gets her sweets for free as a prize! Then she takes the rat to be jailed. |
3M: Twofer: Fumblies and Wildfall | Blackeagle, Becky, Fumblies and Wildfall | no | Wildfall is panicking, convinced Koumori took Mary behind the force field. Bristle and Gem see that Koumori is just trying to protect her. They come across an ice mage named Blizzard McChilledice. Wildfall gets distracted by the name. Then Fumblies shows up and eventually casts an identification spell on the force field. Elsewhere, Becky takes Blackeagle to get hotdogs in the Market Square but they get distracted by a store named "Gobs' Gadgets." It's closing time but some of the blueprints gives John the idea to build a hang glider. |
Mary is Desperate | Mary Kate | Yes! | Trapped inside the force field, Mary senses Koumori isn't comfortable around people so she sends him to scout the area around them for danger. Mary and Dottie discuss how they got here, with Dottie telling Mary all about Dottie's daughter Pete. Mary then goes out to scout and brings a wounded guard back with her. However, Mr. Penno (the penguin) isn't sure that's such a good idea. |
McGuffin Unleashed | Sassy Snake | no! | Linger summons Sassy to get an update from "Sparks" who has started to find cracks in the force field. As they do, Sailor McGuffin (worried about Mary Kate, who is trapped inside the field) tries to launch himself at the barrier, but Linger stops him before he can hurt himself. He's frantically trying to get through the shield. Sensing his eagerness, "Sparks" proposes he might be able to get three of them through- himself, McGuffin and Gem. He tells them to come back in a couple hours, so McGuffin and Gem head out to get a meal and healing supplies for Mary Kate. |
Aleena & Friends | Aleena, Cattaras, Dash and Jen | no | Cattaras and Dash discuss where Catrina's likely vanished to. Cattaras worries over how Aleena is doing after the recent events involving her cysuit; Aleena insists she's doing fine. Dash also shares his concerns with Cattaras over the bugbear threat. They are able to track down the Paladin. Aleena carries Dash there while Jen teaches Cattaras to use his suit to fly. They confront both Black Paladin and Jester King of Beasts. Paladin indicates something involving Catrina is in Seaside Town. Catt superspeeds towards it, Jen carries Dash there and Aleena stays to confront Jester King and Paladin. |
3M: Finale Prelude | Aleena, Mary Kate, Shelldor and Wildfall | no | Bob returns Arena Suzie's familiars. Suzie mentions the Spookyraven weirdness so Bob heads out to investigate. Later, at the mansion, Koumori spots Ratsworth sending Ratfink and skeletal rats out to patrol the area inside the barrier.
Later, Mary Kate sees someone entering the force field. Assuming it's Wildfall, she rushes to help him- but discovers it isn't him but two rat thugs pushing a winged yeti in to the mansion. Bob sneaks in behind them right as they spot Mary! Luckily, Cattaras snuck in two; the three stare down Boss Bat, Barn Ratsworth, two Trinity members and their Muri-dan thugs. McGuffin, Gem and Bristle meet up with Becky Joy and Blackeagle at the marketplace. They head to the force field- and SnowCat Cuties trails behind! Elsewhere, Aleena is doing well against Jester King and Black Paladin- until Paladin pulls out a trick to put an end to the battle! |
3M: The Finale Continues | Aleena, Catrina, Mary Kate and Wildfall | No | The action heats up as Cattaras battles Jerome and Mortimer at super-speeds while Mary finds herself in trouble against Ratsworth and tries to get Bob to help. It doesn't work at first but when Ratsworth's minions get involved, Mary resorts to yelling at Bob.
Meanwhile, lil Pete convinces Bristle and Icy to take her to the barrier so she can watch for her mother. They meet up with Sassy and briefly debate if they should help before terrible visions overcome all of them. Renaissance Giant is unable to keep Groar (the winged yeti) from confronting Lord Spookyraven- but someone else is. Catrina battles Black Paladin, unaware Paladin is now controlling Aleena's cysuit- with her inside of it! |
3M: The Finale Concludes | Aleena, Catrina, Mary Kate and Wildfall | kinda | Wildfall is frustrated as Fumblies attempts to get through the force field without much success. Fortunately, Fumblies detects something strange nearby - and sees a winged yeti being forced through a hole in the force field, followed by Bob! Wildfall, Hardwire and Iris all show up to watch. Then it's really a party as Blackeagle and Becky show up. Iris even spots SnowCat on a roof and Blackeagle get SCC to join them.
Excitement builds as Koumori rushes to help Mary Kate! Cattaras prevents the two Trinity members from ambushing him. As they wait on a way in, SnowCat asks Wildfall to show her about the city, but his mind is on Mary. He sends Snow to talk to Sassy and that's when the force field gets broken down! Wildfall and Sailor McGuffin rush to save Mary Kate. McGuffin rushes in and is ambushed by the two Trinity members. Wildfall uses a lil' fast thinking, saving Cattaras from Boss Bat and having the 'big cat' help Mary Kate and McGuffin. Dash and Jen show up to oppose the Somber Six, who show up in force! The Renaissance Giant's Procrastination potion takes care of Dash & Jen. Fumblies is in trouble vs the giant and Groar. Sassy, Becky, Iris and Blackeagle lead the charge on the rats, bats, Groar and more! As the other battles wage on, Wildfall and a Mary Kate (light headed after nearly being choked out) take on Lord Spookyraven himself! Spookyraven is on the edge of victory when Fumblies miraculously returns to battle to confront him - but that's when the Council show up to complicate matters. |
In other words, I don't own KOL, or KOKOL, and KOKOL doesn't own KOL.
