BC: Fumblie's Return [Part 1/2]
Mission:  Mansion's Maniac Mysteries
subtitle: the title says it all

Posted by Sir Fumblies
Original roleplay

Sir Fumblies is back!

Bout time, too! The opening line tells us the last time he was seen in AIL, posted over four months before this piece. In terms of Fumblies himself, his last post before this was just a day short of nine months since he'd last roleplayed. So yeah, it was a while coming.

(The following picks up right in the aftermath of the events here: http://z11.invisionfree.com/AiL/index.php?showtopic=825 )

Sir Fumblies drew his sword and dropped down to a defensive stance as he turned to face Kwadlin. Kwadlin sent Bones and Blake Cutler off to keep an eye on Becky Joy, Blackeagle and Zap, who had just departed. As he did, Fumblies took a moment to confer with the spirit of the ninja boy who lived in his armor. "Any wise ideas lad?"

"Wish I could help you here boss but the best I can do is keep you from getting seriously hurt." Came the regret filled mental response.

"Fumblies, I hope you are ready to to be beaten."

"Enough talk Kwadlin. Do your worst."

Kwadlin prepared to do just that but before their duel could get underway a massive explosion rocked the area. A nearby space bugbear drone, knocked out of the air and covered in a familiar pink goo, crashed nearby them. The crash triggered a blast but the result left both Fumblies and Kwadlin knocked out.

"You alive there bossman?" the ninja boy asked after a short while when it became clear that the armor he was in was still in one piece. After a few moments the spirit chuckled to himself as it was obvious Fumblies was out cold and would be for some time.

"Ughhh why does it feel like I have been ran over by herd of charging centaurs?" Groaned a sore yet alive Sir Fumblies. Slowly the Blood Clan leader opened his eyes to see a familiar sky. A sky that wasn't all that different than the one that had been over head when he had been knocked out by that explosion other than maybe being a different time of day.

"That would be a side affect of having something explode right next to you, Sir. It seems to be mystical in nature and I think it was drawn here by Kwadlin's dark magic."

Fumblies only reaction was to shake his head and groan again as he forced himself sit up to take stock of what was happening around him. As he looked around he noticed that the area he was in was plains lands to the sound end of the Degrassi and the way to the mountains. He vaguely recalled that there had been something going on up that way before they had taken that side trip to look into what had crashed. Yet as he looked he could see no sign of the wreckage or any signs of life other than his own.

"So are we ever on our realm or did we get displaced?"

The child in the ghost seemed to step out of the armor, though in truth only Fumblies would have seen him even if the two weren't alone. The boy tilted his head, looking around as he took stock, finding the whole scene endlessly fascinating.

He seemed initially lost in his own world.

"So what do you see?" Fumblies asked with interest as he tried to place the feeling that something wasn't quite right.

"We were thrown through time, I think!" The ghost of the young ninja boy sounded concerned. . . . almost . . . worried.

"Any idea if was forward or backward? Or is the only want to find out to head towards one of the settlements and see what is going on there?"

The ghost seemed to stumble. "Hmmm.. I suggest we do that, Sir. I'd rather not speculate on such terrifying matters yet. I hope it isn't the past. It might be awkward running into my younger self."

"Agreed. So I guess we might as well head to the Ninja Village and do a bit of a look around there. That should give some idea of what is happening."

With that, Fumblies turned north using the landscape he recognized to head towards Ninja Village where hopefully some answers would be found.

It's a little short, but quite good.

The voter was quite fond of the ninja boy (I did his part for this mission) and liked the time travel idea as well. It's always nice helping Fumblies out and seeing where he goes with his ideas - which we get to do more of in the next piece. Our voter Ichiro commented that Kris (the writer) has a "great grasp on his character" and "tells great stories" as well.
