With the remains of the Elite 8 finally defeated in an epic battle, the scene turned into chaos. Jarlsboris Wildfall collapsed to his knees in exhaustion as the toll of the battle finally caught up with him, closing his eyes and doing his best to ignore the chaos around him for a few moments. Todd Blackpaws lay not to far away, on his back leisurely strumming out a helping tune as the pair rested from their labors. "Man, this sucks. I could use a beer and the bar wench that served it." Wildfall sighed heavily, looking over the battlescars of the land, which were severe enough to be seen in the landscape from a good half mile away, minimum. "Yeah, that would be a nice change of pace.. til a portal opens up inside the bar and fills it up with demons. Or more evil versions of the Knob Scouts. Or flying ghost demon dark monkeys pissin' acid all over the place, or whatever comes through those stupid portals. Then it's more of the same ol, same ol." "Yeah, but at least I'd go out drunk and laid. Here? All I got is water and your ass." Todd chuckled, sitting up for a better look around. He frowned, this neighborhood had really gone to shit of late. Wildfall stared into the sky, scanning for danger. With all the rumors flying around.. he paused. "Ya know, sometime I am gonna hop a ship back to Honorburg, get my half of the cash out, and come back here and build a nice bar for us. Do ya think there's a nice conversion rate from Honorburg and here?" "I only know the conversion rate on the Other Side of the Tracks- which is between your purse and some cutthroats'," Todd growled. He brightened soon enough though and smirked at his friend. "You've probably bought more than your share of bars, as much as you drink in 'em." Wildfall laughed; he found that rather funny. "Nope, Summer and I just shoved most of the money in the bank and invested most of it. 'Investing.' I don't think we even had that back in Ireaca. I'm not quite sure how it works, but she told me it made a lot more money." He paused for a moment, mulling the numbers over. "Yeah.. I could buy a bar here." Todd looked the scene over, his eyes growing to match Wildfall's. "You'll need a band..." Wildfall facepalmed. "I haven't even got the money and ya already want a salary, lad? Let me guess, ya get paid up front a month in advance too? Heh." But that look stayed put on Todd's face. "I've got some money, believe it or not. How about a share of the night's take, and say on pickin the wenches?" Wildfall frowned. "I don't have much money on me, so I hope ya know a good spot they're cheap. Once we get done with.. um.. are we forgetting anything?" Todd chuckled. "No cheap wenches. Only the best for my…" He stopped and thought. Then he began to rise with an audible groan. "Stupid thugs, ruining a good fantasy." Wildfall was perplexed. "Um.. Are you sayin ya started fantasizing about thugs instead of wenches?" Todd laughed. "I'm saying that I remembered we got something we gotta do. Thug base thing, remember?" "Oh," Wildfall said. Then it set in on him. "Oh! The promise to Sassy Snake.. who we need to find.. Thank you, it totally got knocked out of my mind in that fight.. I still don't know how we pulled that off, though." Todd shrugged. "Will of the Vixen, I suppose." He slung his axe and offered Wildfall a paw up. Wildfall grinned. "Next time ya see her, thank her for me. So.. what did we actually promise Snake we'd do, anyway? I don't remember if we said anything specific." Todd smirked. If there was anything he liked talking about it was his encounters with the Vixen. "I'll bring it up between rounds." "We should go find her, then." Todd smirked. "Ain't that easy. Ain't like she's gonna be showin' up at the Tree at noon." "We could check," Wildfall said with a shrug. "Sassy might be there anyway." Todd checked the retort, rewinding the conversation and suddenly feeling like an idiot. "Might be a good place to start- although I don't think the Tree'll be servin' anything- what with all this 'end of the world' shit goin' on." Wildfall shrugged. "I dunno, seems like a pretty good reason to wanna grab a drink. Besides, even if they're not serving, plenty of places are using their space to help with the wounded and homeless, right? Seems even more likely she'd go there if that's the case." Todd nodded. "Yeah… so, what? We try the Tree or does she have some other hangout?" Todd glanced over at Wildfall, then beyond toward where his friend was staring. "What?" "What what? Huh?" Wildfall turned back to him. "Oh.. it's just.. did ya notice the snakes watching us? Like.. literally watching us.. I'm thinkin maybe they're our little message in a bottle from Sassy. I mean, not in a bottle. That'd be kinda uncomfortable for the snake." "What, you think she's sending her pets after ya, man?" Todd couldn't help a bit of a smirk. "Maybe I better leave you two alone?" Wildfall facepalmed. "Gee, you should add stand up at your routine at Weeping Tree. Course, you'd have to get funny first. Besides, they're not her pets, remember? She was pretty insistent about that.. but they do know her.. I think I should look into it. Then I could meet you at the inn.. sound good?" Todd chuckled as Wildfall still was asking to 'be alone' with Sassy. "Yeah, sure. Go find her and I'll see what the word is around town." "See ya there," Wildfall said, checking his pure oak sheleighleigh before heading off to stalk the snake.. Heh.. stalk the snake..
There's that chemistry that make Todd and Wildfall work so well together. Next, let's jump back before the big battle with Sassy Snake!
