Mission: Royal Scavenger Hunt- Princesses in danger!
MISSION INFORMATION
The first official mission of Season two rocks!
Check out the spoilers / notes from below, as Feline Empire and the KOKOL are united in their attempts to save some princesses...


From a Live RP set in a ninja village to torture, exotic fun, two debuts, an airship, the reopening of Seaside Town, and some of AIL's top roleplayers, we cover a lot of ground here with stories that unfold very naturally, leading from one set of co writes to another. This mission archive is notable for possibly our best artwork so far, as well.

What story events here will have long term ramifications on the season? Stay tuned to find out.

Let's get down to business with the notes. They're longer than usual.. especially the mammoth Live RP notes.
The only roleplay missing notes: Aleena and Dios's first of two. Details of it can be found along with the Dash/ Konall co write notes. Aleena and Dios's second co write is also missing notes, but it isn't commented on in the notes. If you wondered- it's basically Dios torturing Aleena, and leads into the Finale quite well.

Alright.. I've done some little thinking here. I've left it up to us to determine through roleplaying and the Finale exactly how many princesses were kidnapped. I'm not quite sure how we should go about kidnapping them in individual roleplays, so if you're interested in saving a princess, even briefly, I ask that you PM me so we can work out the details of how it'll go down. Naturally, doing so won't necessarily increase your odds of winning, so don't think of it as something you "have" to do.

This applies even if you plan on having the princess you save recaptured.

Show some creativity with the types of princesses, allies and associates of the princess, and any new enemies you introduce. As I mentioned, an organized effort (and an airship) was required in the initial kidnappings. However, some of the kingdom's enemies then took advantage of the chaos to rescue even more princesses.. So there's a lot of creative opportunity here.. note that KOKOL is working with Feline Empire to save the princesses here.

Hm.. that's all I got! Let's see some creativity here, and try new things. Look for new friends to bring into AIL!

Full 20 points for this one plus probably some in game rewards for the top few players.. maybe!

After dwelling on Dash's mentality of wanting to be alone since Generic Summer Vacation Week, I had him finally 'meet up with an old friend.' That'll be touched on - so to speak- in a rather suggestive co write which's going to be posted after this.

While in Seaside Town, Dash hears about Princess Jen Pi, who's been kidnapped by warriors from the Panda nation. See, their kung fu fighters attacked after the initial attack, which this particular ass kicking princess helped repelled.

They took advantage of a weakened Jen and kidnapped her, but rumor says at some point she got away from them between the Woods and Plains of the KoKOL.

Dash offers to save her.

Aleena and Dash's only co write - archive copy

Aleena did a co write with me to prelude the recent Live RP, which I'll be posting soon.

The first part of it is a rather sexual encounter between Aleena and an ally of Dash's - Katherine Swift. Aleena is out swimming- naked since she doesn't expect anyone to be around- and she spots Dash's horse on a bend. Katherine, also out for her own naked swim, comes up on horse, not hearing Aleena's quiet approach.

Katherine turns around and bumps into her.. The two stay like that for a few minutes until Dash happens to wonder into the two.. rather embarrassing for Dash, to the delight of the girls.

Eventually, he gets the two to go with him on a quest to save the princess mentioned in Dash's solo - Jen Pi. The two ride down south and soon come up on a sleeping Konall.

That's the end of it; it leads almost directly into my next planned post; a very awesome Live RP! (Which sees an AiL'er make their roleplay debut!)

Woo, my first post is topic 400!

 
Anyways. We meet Ozymandias Whelk and his rather temperamental boss, Hannibal Clunt. Ozzie comes across some dodgy numbers in his reports, and after informing Clunt that there seems to be a group transporting people cross-country, is dispatched to investigate.

Ozzie, being rather the wallflower, isn't sure how to react when a group of rowdy patrons start trouble in the bar he's staking out - but he manages to find himself drawn into a confrontation nonetheless...

Extremely long co write here. I’ll keep the summery to the bare minimum.

  • Dash, Swift and Aleena have met up with a hooded Fahari and a napping Konall. (He’s awake for this.)
  • Fumblies makes his own way to town and joins forces with the KOKOL’ers.
  • They’ve come upon an Asian village.
  • Konall is pretty sure he might have raided it once.
  • Turns out he conquered it, which somehow made him a beloved local celebrity with his own “Loft of Honor.”
  • Signs the Muri Dan had been near and in the village recently.
  • Spaz tries to snatch a pebble from a kid’s hand, steals his ear instead. Oops and ouch.
  • They deal with a strange man who clues them in on what’s up. Funnier than it sounds.
  • They go to the hut he mentioned they should go to; Konall sets it on fire rather than be ambushed.
  • It just sits there on fire, forever, so Konall walks in.
  • He’s ambushed, but kills the ninja with his shield.
  • From here, they’re sent to the outside of the village.
  • They engage several ninjas while Fumblies deals with mini ninjas.
  • Seeing as they’re NPC’s, it’s no surprise we end up winning.
  • Aleena gains a mystical dress that can be turned to smoke at will.
  • The others get some cool rewards at all.
  • Seriously, that’s one nice dress. “Princess” dress. Tiara too.
  • Dash kills both Kung Stu and anyone who’s name is similar to Kung Stu.
  • The inhaled smoke also boosts Fumblies’s stealth for future Live RP’s.
  • Konall gets a magical gold tooth. Makes sense in context, almost.
  • They continue down the path, avoiding traps.
  • We split up, to justify a shift in players. Fahari joins Katherine, Konall and Kadlin.
  • They go “somewhere else” and won’t be seen again in the remainder of this roleplay.
  • Aleena decides she wants to be kidnapped. Get used to this line.
  • They kidnap her, and somehow managed to catch Dash as well.
  • Even though Dash was hiding in the bushes.
  • Aleena’s thrown into a prison cell with two others.
  • The object of her search, Jen Pi.
  • And the dead Knob Goblin King’s sister.
  • Both are bound by.. something undefined.
  • As soon as the guards are out of sight, Aleena tries to unbind Jen.
  • The smoke prevents her and nearly binds Aleena.
  • With some help from the other girls, Aleena escapes, then uses her one use spell.
  • It changes the tides of fate and unbinds the princess, then blows the prison door open.
  • Fumblies’s story here!
  • He encounters a large Kung Fu fighter, which morphs into a seal clubber.
  • Fumblies has to outtrash talk it, which he does.
  • The guard takes Fumblies to a cage, holding Dash and.. Todd Blackpaws?!
  • Flashback to a few minutes earlier, of Dash being thrown into the cage to see… Todd Blackpaws?!
  • Todd Blackpaws?! Er.. Todd got caught after flirting an unnamed princess.
  • The two talk for a few moments before Sir Fumblies shows up.
  • Guard (now a disco bandit, oddly) tries to push Fumblies into the cage but Fumblies dodges.
  • Guard runs head first into the prison door, knocking himself out and it off.
  • What is it with doors being blown off all the time?!
  • Fumblies, Dash and Todd enter the prison. Todd first.
  • Aleena doesn’t recognize him at first and punches him hard.
  • She realizes he’s with Dash and apologizes.
  • Aleena listens to her suit and exits alone.
  • Three guards challenge her and a partner of her choice to a dance contest.
  • Aleena and Fumblies outdance them easily.
  • After some confusion, everyone heads to the exit.
  • A statue tries to force Fumblies to answer a riddle ala South of the Border.
  • Fumblies instead wants his brute Tus to kill it. It runs off crying.
  • The statue does, not Tus. Tus is just more pissed.
  • The heroes find several guards who share a magical link which makes it impossible to win.
  • Aleena and the others fight hard, but to no effect.
  • An unnamed demon shows up, easily killing two of them with the surprise.
  • Seriously, read that. It is an awesome debut! Player character too.
  • The heroes take out any ninja / kung fu fighters who attack.
  • There’s one leftover kid in the end.
  • Fumblies nearly gets the kid to join his army.
  • Then the demon callously kills it.
  • the child’s ghost merges into Fumblies’s armor. ?!?
  • Aleena convinces Dash they need to deal justice to the demon for the child’s murder.
  • Aleena attacks – but the demon teleports itself *AND* Fumblies and his army- but not the princess he was seeking- back to Catrina’s thorn room.
  • Dash says they’ll deal with the whole Feline army eventually.
  • As Todd tells the Princess it’s time to get somewhere safe.
  • Wow, just the notes on this are freakin huge!
Super short version: Fumblies, Dash, Todd and Aleena ended up saving (for the moment) the dead Knob Goblin King's sister, and Princess Jen Li.. although an unnamed demon teleported Fumblies away without the others.

Continues Fumblies' story right from where the live RP ends.

Fumblies and his troops are teleported by the demon (still as of yet unnamed) to the throne room of Castle Knob.

Cattaras thinks it is an attack but is stopped by Catrina who is nursing a child.

A discussion follows in which Fumblies is blamed for returning to the castle without the Knob King's sister (who Catrina didn't know about).

This leads to a bit of anger on Fumblies part as he has yet to be rewarded for anything he has done since joining the Feline Empire.

Some through out this Jester King of Beasts shows up and reveals that he controls the demon, who is named Dios.

Over the course of the following conversation insults and accusations fly which leave Fumblies feeling ready to kill Jester.

Cantrina orders Fumblies to work with Cattaras which does nothing to calm Fumblies.

After telling Catrina he would meet her brother in Seaside Town later Fumblies leaves the throne room.

Fumblies takes his troops and storms out of the castle only to run into Becky Joy who decides to join up with him on the mission he was working with Cattaras on.

Becky, Cattaras and Fumblies's first of two - archive copy

Yet another co write is up! Sorry. Notes are a bit long.

This time, Catrina handles Cattaras, who's basically guest starring in a Sir Fumbles/ Becky Joy piece.

It starts with Sir Fumblies who, determined to have a 'side trip' before meeting with Becky and Cattaras, immediately left the Feline Empire's base, the Knob Goblin's stronghold, and heads for Farnsworthy Tower.

Somehow, he finds Becky (and her four Knob Goblins) had gotten ahead of him. In fact, Becky is hosting a picnic which she insists Fumblies joins her at.

Not quite pleased with it, Sir Fumbles decides not to take his frustrations with the Jester King out on Becky. He does enjoy the caramel apple she has as the treat she promised for him, though.

They get to talking; Cattaras then joins them at well, seeming to put a rest to any plans Fumblies had to visiting Farnsworthy's tower. Cattaras and Fumbles argue again over the recent events (the demon teleporting Fumblies home without Lady Goblin). We find out their plans here. Catrina wanted Fahari but since she's in KOKOL company, Cattaras is more interested in tracking down the Princess of Paragon- the one who's daughter looks so much like a slightly younger Catrina.

Fumblies is still too upset and stalks off, leaving Cattaras and Becky. Becky gets his attention before the big cat can attack Fumblies, showing him a ball on a string. As soon as Becky bats it, something else gets her attention, which causes Cattars to look away.

The ball bops him in the nose. Becky apologizes and wonders to the side, distracted by the toy.

Aleena, Dash and the two princesses Jen and Lady Goblin set up a camp. A confused Ozymandias wandered in and joined them. The Jester King and Dios teleported in with their minions, quickly defeated the campers, and ran off with the women.

Dash, meet Ozzie. Ozzie, this is Dash.

Our original odd couple wake up to find themselves alone in the campground-turned-battlefield, injured and confused. As they heal up and pack up camp, they discuss the prospects of saving the princesses (unless of course the princesses save themselves, which is entirely possible). Dash also explains some of the situation with Dios and Jester King, and Cat and the Felines. Ozzie calculates that without some magical aid, they'll never reach them in time. Maybe if he bent a few rules he could requisition one from the Council of Loathing, but they'd need to get there pretty darn sharpish. Good thing Dash had already summoned his horse! And off we go.

So, are Dash and Ozzie getting on any better now? They arrive in Seaside town, with Ozzie a little worse for wear, and they instantly get on with... er... bickering. They agree that it has to be an in-out(-shake-it-all-about) type mission, but disagree on the finer details. Ozzie notes that Cat will be able to predict Dash's movements, but he'll have a similar advantage against her. Dash decides that the prisoners are most likely going to be held in the underground dungeons, so that's where they need to focus their efforts. They split up to get what aid they can - Dash getting supplies and fighters, Ozzie getting mages specialising in infiltration - and agree to meet back up in Market Square in an hour.

Note there was a quick RP for Aleena/ Dios posted between my two co writes with Ozzie. It basically had her tortured by the demon, who in his human form seemed interested in getting her to help him get free, but in his demon form was very cruel to her.

THIS RP- "the helpful bard"- had Konall and Dash meeting up and going to get Aleena. Through paying off the bartender, a retired penguin mafia penguin, they discover they can maybe access the princesses and Aleena via the abandoned tunnels, which are said to connect to the tunnels although with cave in's and such, there's no easy way to tell the correct path to take.

Quick final one from Ozzie introducing a shifty criminal identified only, at this point, as Jones.

Ozzie doesn't have his ID and looks like a violent tramp, so he can't get into the Council building to weave his ways. Help is at hand from the nefarious, mysterious and other things ending in rious Jones, who causes a distraction, allowing Ozzie to sneak in and requisition a battlemage, a stealth mage and a limited tele-mage (mages are kept in storage when they're not being hired out, like cars or tuxedos).

Jones' price for helping Ozzie? She wants an audience with Dash. DUN DUN DUUUH!

Yet another roleplay is up! This time it's a three person co write, although it's more like two co writes with me linked together.

The first part focuses on the Goblins under the orders of Becky and Fumblies. First, Becky and Goblina send Darson and the brothers, Red and Green, to search for information, while Scaros (One of Fumblie's) is annoyed that he is expected to prepare things for the hunt even though Cattaras hasn't shown up yet.

Darson, Red and Green get with Scaros and determine there's an airship with 'approximately' six princesses taken prisoner, but it was most recently stuck south due to mechanical problems.

 Meanwhile, Cattaras has tracked Fumblies down to the tower. Cattaras is waiting to pounce, eager to find out what Fumblies has been up to, but Becky walks up, blissfully unaware. She rather loudly tells Cattaras they know where the princess is.

Cattaras is annoyed the element of surprise is ruined, but the three end up proceeding south, once Fumblies exits the tower.

My name- if you didn't already know it- is Todd Blackpaws and I'm here to tell you that a new RP is up in the mission section- this one with me, Sebastian Dash and the ever lovely and... well we can't describe her properly on a family channel so we'll just leave it as my Sexybun Lapine!""

"Okay first off, the title. Yeah I know kinda corny but I'm a Bard and I got a Tail. Deal."

"Second- what it is. Well It is Sebastian Dash- in all his excellent timing- finding me outside a casino I was playin' at tryin' to- well I won't say what I was tryin' to do except to say she was a SWEET little number and well worth the effort!"

"Oh, and babe? If you're out there?" He made little 'call me' motions with his hands.

"Anyway, Dash tells me and the sexybun all about what's goin' on and we head out to help. Not even a good luck kiss from my bunny buns."

Another successful mission, everyone! Points were judged once again by Ichiro of the Global Extreme Wrestling e-wrestling federation.. although he's inactive right now. He mentioned a few times enjoying reading the roleplays. Although he comment about lack of plot movement came up a few times, he also said he likes how everyone understands their characters so well, and he looks forward to seeing how they develop in future missions.

I really liked how the story started in the Live RP lead naturally into the next set of co writes, which then lead to even more co writes, though. We had Dios show up for the mission, and Ozzie, who didn't have a bio until the middle of roleplaying, managed to make a strong showing for himself as well! Between the solos, the single (but massive) Live RP, and the many co writes, we ended up with fifteen separate entries for this mission. Not bad!

As of this mission, after talking to the handler, I'm retroactively giving Catrina's points for this season to Cattaras, who'll basically be taking her place on the player scene, since Catrina's better suited to more of a NPC role right now. (But not one to be used without permission, since she leads the Feline Empire. Contact Cat or I if you are interested in meeting with her, MTiger, Daisuke, or Blahking in the future.)

 
A big congratulations to Aleena, who wins it with 20 points! After making her first mission appearance in a sexy little meeting with Katherine Swift in the campground streams (a co write with Dash), Aleena proceeds to be a big part of the Live RP. She then gets her share of co writes, co starring with a diverse cast including newcomers Ozzie and Dios, and veterans - Dash and Konall Bearsmasher. Our voter commented again on how she should be a force to recon with in AIL at some point "once she finds her groove and can add more to her writing." Which seems to have happened in this mission. He cited her as being in several good co writes, and "only one lackluster roleplay."

Congratulations, Aleena! (And thank you for helping with the scene in the Mission Finale part I.)

 
A newcomer, Ozymandias "Ozzie" Whelk makes an extremely impressive debut here by earning 19 points and taking second place by putting out two solo roleplays and starring in three co writes with Dash (one of which also had Dios and Aleena in it.) Voter comments worth noting: "Again, only one real lackluster rp, everything else was funny, clever, and well written." Although his last roleplay was a bit rushed (due to the deadline), his other showings worked quite well and should set him up for some really good development in the future. Besides, how could you not love an accountant adventurer? Special mention goes out to his debut piece, by the way, since it's a strong, fun piece that establishes him perfectly.

Should be interesting to see if and how he plays off other characters both PC's and NPC's, in the future.

 
Sebastian Dash, my own main, manages a strong showing at third place, taking an impressive 17 points. Along with a solo to start things off, and taking part in the Live RP, Dash is all over the boards via co writes. Voter comments: I love character growth here, where he clearly hasn’t fully recovered from his lover turning evil and trying to kill him, but he is growing from it. It's tough commenting fairly on one's own work, but I most liked Dash's interactions with Ozzie, his self doubt, and his awkward 'cameo' in the Aleena/ Katherine meeting.

 
Taking 14 points is the highest scoring member of the Feline Empire, Sir Fumblies. He took part in 3 co writes (two of which he posted) and had a role in the Live RP as well. Although the voter commented he "fell flat" a few times this mission (most regular players to have a few lackluster efforts every now and then), the voter also commented "Fumblies has this charisma at times, where his work just works. Yes, in terms of technical skill he isn’t the best, his character can feel one note, but somehow I want to keep reading more of what he writes when he is in the zone."

 
Cattaras Whiteclaw holds his own with 12 points for the mission. He's basically taking the place of Catrina, who's more a Feline Empire leader at this point and not on the field much, due in part to her new son. Cattaras, however, has a long way to go to live up to Catrina's level of interest in AIL.

My Becky Joy earns herself 11 points on this round, being awesome, but being regulated to bit rolls this time around [which] keeps me from pushing her higher."

Dios earns himself 10 points with "fine writing" as the voter said, and by taking part in some solid co writes. It's yet to be seen exactly what the character is going to really be about. He could be a force to be reckoned with, in part due to his unique and often evil and vile role, which is something the Feline Empire can use; real, true evil.

Konall Bearsmasher earns himself 7 points here, due in part to simply not showing up very much, and not having much story of his 'own' to speak of here. Despite that, he's a character who's a threat to win any mission where he gets enough 'face time' in... that just didn't happen this time around.

Todd Blackpaws had the same issue, and not much going on, either. Still, he earns a nice little 5 points for his efforts here.

Kadlin Bearsmasher takes 2 points of her own, and like most of the people at the bottom of the list, didn't show up very much.

Earning one point a piece here, rounding the list out, are Fahari and Lapine. Hopefully, we'll see both of these normally potent alts in the next and future missions!

Some stats: 11 characters total scored points in AIL's fourteenth ever mission. Seven earned 10 or more points. Due to alts, seven characters in the list were played by 3 handlers.

I really look forward to seeing what we get for the next mission, which I'll get up as soon as I can!
