Mission: Uncle Crimbo's Summertime Renaissance Southern Fair: A GROARING problem subtitle: Features Snow, Becky, Luna & Blackeagle! Posted by Becky Joy Original co-write
I haven't been working on this (as I write this) for a while due to several real life complications. (They're spelled out in the first issue of the newsletters located here if you're interested, though.)
But the mission keeps rolling along next! It starts out with Becky, her Goblin crew and SnowCat again - but this time, we add a few new players to the mix as well! Being split up into six parts, there's obviously a lot going on here!

After their
Suddenly, Snow pulled the bike to a stop and got off, leaving the others without a word, and ran over to gaze in a shop window before entering.
"There she goes!" Green said, cowering. "Hope it isn't a haunted mansion again. People keep telling me to go to those again. I don't want another sequel already!"
"Maybe I should go in and check on her," Red offered enthusiastically.
"Sit here with us!" Becky commanded. She then thought it over. "Ya know, actually there's no reason not to. Just don't buy too much candy so we can't carry it all!"
"Trust me, Miss Becky!" Red said, hopping out of the trailer. "That won't happen a sixth time this week! Probably!"
Snow emerged with two big bags filled with sweets to the point some were almost falling out. Using her balancing skills, Snow carefully carried over the bags and placed them on the trailer.
"Well that's me sorted, you guys getting anything?" Snow asked. "Oh where we going again? Sorry; I found sweets."
"Eep!" Becky jumped up. "I forgot too!"
"Check your letter," Goblina reminded both ladies. "Las .. something. It's down south."
Darson sighed. "We're in Lil Canadia. That's a bit out of the way, isn't it?"
"I dunno!" Becky laughed. "I like it here cause it's cold!"
"Well I needed sweets with the way Becky and Red have been eating them. . . " Snow giggled. "Don't worry your little head, we will be there soon enough with my bike." She ran her knuckles gently on his head.
Darson flinched away. "Down, kitty."
"Alright, time to go fast!" Red shouted. "We should enter this thing in the next go-kart race!" He then vanished into the sweet shop.
"Time to g-g-gh-gho-go fast?!" Green's face turned white - and a little green. "OH no!"
"We don't have that much extra time." Snow giggled. "Besides I wouldn't enter my bike into one. I just needed sweets. Are you ready to go again or is there something else you guys want? We won't be able to stop again till nightfall and who knows where we will be."
Goblina pouted. "I wish I had enough meat to stop by the jewelry shop for the summer sales."
"Well I saw some turtles not far from here. Want to go hunting? We can use the extra for a stew or something," Snow asked.
"Sure!" Becky said. "In the meantime, I'll head to Chez Snootée!"
"That sounds really good," Goblina said, almost smacking her lips as she licked them.
"Awesome." Excitedly, Snow parked the bike properly and gathered her hunting things. "I'm ready. I'm ready. I'm ready."
Red appeared from the sweet shop to shout, "GO SNOW! Woooo!" He quickly put the sweets down on the trailer before falling over. "Wait what are you ready for?"
Becky turned to Snow and asked in a serious voice, "Are you ready?"
"Hold up," Darson said, rolling his eyes. "I can't just let this go uncommented on. You really picked that exact moment to walk out of the store, Red?"
Red blushed a little. "I might have waited there a few minutes for a good exit line."
Darson gave a self satisfied smirk. "Thought so."
"Shall we go quickly?" Snow asked Goblina.
"I guess," Goblina answered with a chuckle. "But if they're turtles, what's the rush? Haha."
"True but you want to buy something before we go right?" Snow pointed out.
"We could go look in town," Goblina said hopefully. "How's that sound?"
"Yes. Sure." With that the two of them disappeared to look for turtles, leaving the others.
"I better go with!" Green suggested. Then he threw his arms in the air, screamed in terror for no reason and ran after them.
**---**
It didn't take long for Green to catch up or for them to get him to stop screaming. It didn't take much longer to find their way into the woods, either. In fact, barely a half hour after they left and they were on their way back to town! Would have been quicker if Green didn't scare them off with his screaming, then again that's what brought them out of their shells.
"But I am telling you, bro," Green said as they carried their turtley loot in. "Those were some weird lookin' turtles."
"I know right but we got them." Snow placed them onto her trailer and turned to the others. "You all ready to head off?"
"Yup!" Red answered with a grin. "Can't wait to get me a taste of that delicious turtle noodle soup, either! My mouth's watering just thinking about it!"
"Bro," Green asked in disbelief. "How can you even think about food after eating all those chocolate peanut butter squares? Plus two entire meatball sandwiches?"
"What can I say?" Red answered as he patted his belly. "It's a talent."
That lead to faint random disembodied laughter from the forest behind them.
"Not that again!" Green complained.
"Looks like I didn't park far enough." Snow added. "Come on, pile on everyone and let's hit the road, we have a long way to go. Goblina did you get much while shopping?"
Goblina smiled, showing off her two new shell earrings. "I got some good deals, thanks. I didn't have much to spend, but it still took forever to pick out what I wanted. How did the hunting go? I hope the boys behaved."
"As good as they can be." Snow giggled. "Red kept setting the woods off again."
Becky looked around, hoping for more disembodied laughter, but heard none. She looked a little disappointed by that.
Snow, spotting Becky's sadness called out, "Hey Red come here quick." She walked backwards, beckoning Red to come closer.
"What're you up to now?" Red asked suspiciously. But he still followed her obediently.
"Just come here a second, I want to see something." Snow had stopped not far from the group but still in ears range. "Becky come a bit closer as well."
Becky walked over, giddy and excited. "Huh?!"
When they were close enough Snow said, "Red, say something."
Red just looked, started to open his mouth, and shrugged silently.
"That's not saying something." Snow added. "Just say something for Becky."
"I dunno, I'm not…." Laughter from the forest interrupted him. Red ignored it and continued. "Not good at improvisation," Red said sadly. The laughter continued as he talked. "It was the first time I got a D-. Even my teacher told me she was embarrassed. It was the worst two years of my life!"
That got the loudest laughs so far, even a few whoops and hollers. It sounded like a few people laughed so hard, they were choking.
"Wow, he's so funny," Becky said, howling with laughter. "Where do you come up with this?!"
"Awww poor Red, I only wanted to set off the forest for Becky." Snow turned Becky. "You happy now?"
Red choked on a sob. "I never wanted to relive that memory again!"
Even more laughter although not from Becky. Her eyes suddenly lit up as she frowned. "Um. . . . let's get back to the cart."
"Yes, let's get you away from this forest." Snow went to comfort Red. Before long, they got on the trailer while Snow got on the bike and drove off while Becky and Darson recounted their dining experience.
Snow started to pick up speed as they got out of Seaside Town but as soon as they did, Becky yelled for her to stop!
Snow quickly dropped her speed and looked confused at Becky. "What's up?"
Instead of answering, Becky got out of the trailer, squealed excitedly and rushed into the distance.
"Does anyone have any idea?" Snow asked the others, slowly driving to catch up with her. "We do have to move on."
Goblina shrugged. "Maybe she forgot something?"
Darson shook his head, leaning out. "I think she spotted someone in the distance."
"That's a dot, how can she see who that is?" Snow squinted to look.
One of the four Goblins responded, "That's Becky for you!"

In the distance
The aforementioned "dot" - Spaghettigirl - looked at her invitation again as she was walking on her way to her destination when she bumped into Becky, literally. "I'm sorry," Spaghettigirl started to say when she recognized her friend. "Oh hi Becky!" Spaghettigirl said, happy to see her friend. "Did you get an invitation too?"
"Nope!" Becky beamed. "I got a present! And guess what it had in it?! An invitation! Wait, two!"
"I hope we are going to the same place," Spaghettigirl said, happy to have company on her trip.
Becky jumped in place, excited over the idea. "Ooohhh!! It it Mexi lost vega.. one sec." She double checked her letter. "Las Mexi. . . . caliver.. no.."
"It's Las MexiCaliVada," Spaghettigirl said, smiling at her friend.
"Oh yeah!" Beck smiled so wide. "I'm going with my new friend, you should come meet her, oh oh and Red's here! And you could travel with us. Plus, we gotta talk about your gifts, I bet you got some good ones! Do you wanna go with? Please say 'I wanna go with, Becky!' But to me!"
Becky was almost bouncing with excitement.
"I wanna go with, Becky!" Spaghettigirl said with amusement. "I would love to meet your new friend and travel with all of you. It will be good to see Red again too."
"Alright let's go!" Becky started to bounce off but Spaghettigirl stopped her.
"Wait a second I want to grab my present from my gift basket to take with me. That is my P. R. E. S. S. I. E." Spaghettigirl added with a smile.
"Oohhh!" Becky beamed, looking at the cute square metal looking thing, which stood about half as tall as Spaghettigirl and was holding a rock. Becky giggled. "Did he take Bingo's place for the trip? Heehee!"
"Not exactly, Bingo tends to invite himself along. He is busy right now so I think we can sneak, er I think he will stay home." Spaghettigirl looked around.
Becky giggled. "Alrightie then! Ready then?"
"Yes let's go!" Spaghettigirl said, then turned to her two new friends and asked, "Are you two ready?"
The metal thing beeped. Of course, neither Spaghettigirl nor Becky had any frame of reference to place the P.R.E.S.S.I.E as a robot, but that's clearly what it was. Quite expressive too. It was holding the rock quite carefully; the rock didn't respond verbally.
Becky looked it over, nodded and said, "Me, too!"
Spaghettigirl laughed and said, "Looks like we are all ready to go now."
Becky nodded. "Follow me then. We got a ride up ahead. You're gonna love it!"
A short time later, Snow pulled up with her bike, the others in the trailer with someone sticking his head out and waving like an idiot. Introductions were made and Snow indicated that time was pressing on and 'we could get to know each other at our destination.' With that, everyone climbed aboard and Snow went at top speed to the next town.
------------------------------
The dust picked up from under the wheels of Snow's bike and filled the air. Darkness was setting in soon and a chilling was coming with it. While everyone was chatting away, they finally agreed to set up camp so Snow slowed down and they all found a place to set up. It was already well past sunset and they were all finally starting to get on each other's nerves.
"Right people, let's set up camp here." Snow said, getting off her bike and ushering out everyone from her trailer. "I'll start the fire."
Red got out and literally collapsed while Green slowly inched his way out of and started looking around, worried about monsters.
"You ok there, Red and Green?" Snow tilted her head looking at them.
Red just snored while Green gulped. "Just securing the perimeters!"
"OK well you looked scared, did you want to share my trailer with me?" Snow pulled the roof on her trailer and got out her sheets.
While Green discussed that with her, the others got their tents sorted and got ready for bed. Before everyone settled in, Snow made them a turtle stew for dinner.
"What is that bright light?" Spaghettigirl thought as she woke up at some point during the night. She looked out the tent and noticed a full moon; it seemed extra bright. She looked around, everyone seemed to be asleep and eerily still. Spaghettigirl decided to go outside of the tent and saw the light brightly shining on the pyramid. She then noticed what looked like a doorway that she didn't see before. Almost in a trance she walked towards it and passed through the doorway, walking towards the center.
Once there she looked at her surroundings; there was a luminescent glow. She felt like she was dreaming.
Maybe she was, maybe she wasn't but that was the last thing she would remember later on when she woke up to the sounds of battle.
---------------------------------
The night was not as extravigate for the others and their dreams were as they used to be. The sun rose, slowly filling everywhere with light, hitting Snow in the face.
"Ergg light," Snow grumbled, covering her eyes and rolling over, coming face to face with Green who just snored loudly in response. "Urgg, Dag namit." Snow sat up, saw a random pile of clothes that appeared but ignored it and popped her head out of the trailer to see what the others were doing.
Becky sat there, stretching her limbs, but already full of life and energy. "Another Becky morning today!"
"Urgg I want more sleep. Darn sun," Snow said, falling out of the trailer; she went to relight the fire. "How did you sleep?"
"Beckfully!" Becky answered, giggling. "It means good. But it's just me and Goblina who are up now."
"I've just had a face full of Green's snore so I think he's asleep." Snow placed a pot of water on the fire. "Anyone for coffee I don't have much tho need to get more?"
Goblina stumbled out, mumbling. "Sure.. I need something to put the natural green back in my skin. Red is mumbling but Becky's pastamancer friend is still passed out. We'd better let her sleep in."
"Ok maybe see how they are after a coffee. Is she light? We can place her in the trailer to sleep or maybe wake her up and say she can sleep in there?" Snow asked.
Goblina shook her head. "She's already in the trailer. Not sure why. She must have moved in the middle of the night. I didn't hear her move."
"That must have been what that random pile was when I woke up. It's too early." Snow poured the coffee for everyone and got out the sugar for people, making sure to save some for later. "If we head off soon we should get to town by lunch time."
Half a minute later, the obese Red jumped out of the trailer both feet first. He even did a backflip mid air. "Someone say lunch?!"
"Trust Red to pick up on that." Snow giggled. "Well people have until I finish my coffee to get on the trailer whether they are asleep or not."
Becky just giggled and offered to help start breakfast. They had breakfast and packed up quick. Once ready, they climbed into the trailer, avoided Sgirl and set off down the road. Leaving the dust behind them.
--------------------------------------
Time ticked on and games were played to pass the time. The sun rose quickly and soon it was high in the sky. Wildlife scattered in various places and some cowered away as the the roar of the bike scared them off. In the distance there seemed to be trouble.
Becky called out, "Hey Snow, we should help them out!"
"Yeah," Goblina answered. "Looks like someone's ride broke down in the distance."
"Hmmm let's see what's happened." Snow slowed down the bike.
They rode up upon a cart was overturned, with a bunch of figures rushing around like they were trying to figure out what to do next. Snow got off and went to see what was going on.
Just then someone shot an arrow that hit Snow in the the back of her shoulder, causing her to fall onto one knee. She quickly grabbed a sharp blade from a pocket on the side of her pants and threw it at the guy as she spun round, hitting him on his left shoulder. Snow quickly threw another, her aim off due to the arrow which caused her to hit him in the groin. "Ok that's better than nothing, you bastard."
"Eep! Help her!" Becky called out, only to find herself surrounded by a bunch of bandits, with more riding up in the distance.
Seeing Becky thrown off her game as the thugs rushed her, Darson quickly took charge. "Goblins, attack!"
"Ouch, ouch!" Becky kept trying to focus on summoning up a snow attack but the thugs kept surrounding her and knocking her focusing device (a toy yeti) out of her hand and attacking her. "Oh, hey Blackeagle!"
Becky smiled wide and watched as the thugs turned to see a couple in black outfits riding up from the distance on horses.
Blackeagle - aka John and Sherri- arrived as Becky was poorly attempting to fight off multiple bandits. They quickly dismounted and grabbed their bow staffs. Both John and Sherri started swinging. Nocking her arrows at the thugs - 1, 2, 3, 4 - it was enough to get them off balance. Sherri took a couple directly attacking Becky and knocked them off their feet.
Snow pulled herself into a corner and tried to take the arrow out. Unfortunately, a bandit came running towards her so she quickly got a knife and stabbed him when he got close enough. Once he was out the way, she turned her attention back to the arrow.
Three bandits got off their feet and turned their attention to Sherri. Sherri used the bow on one in the stomach then another then another. Knocking the breath out of them.
Meanwhile John knocked one to the ground with the bow, turned and kicked another in the stomach and punched them out leaving them out cold on the ground. The next one came at John full force. John jump kicked him in the face, knocking him to the ground out cold. After looking at the bodies on the ground, both looked at Becky.
Snow noticed Spaghettigirl was awake and commented, "Welcome to the world sleeping beauty, you missed the start of the fun."
"Yeah," the pastamancer answered. "I remember going to sleep in the tent with Becky and Goblina. The next thing I know, I'm waking up in the trailer, wondering how I got there. Then I hear the fight and . . . wait, why are you calling me 'Sleeping beauty'? My name is Luna."
"Because you slept through most of it. Besides, I thought your name was Spaghettigirl." Snow giggled.
"What is the fun?" Luna asked, then muttered under her breath, "Spaghettigirl, what kind of name is that? Oh, the fun is over here. Hey, Goblina, save some for me!"
Since Snow was in too much pain to help, Luna turned and helped Becky's Goblins deal with the rest of the bandits as Becky walked up to Blackeagle.
"Hey, martial arts duo! Great to see you! Are you gonna go have fun at Crimbo town too?!"
"Yeah we got a gift," Sherri explained.
"Me too!" Becky beamed. "Two of them! We must have been really good! What'd you get?"
"A wooden horse," Sherri said.
John looked over and saw someone other then the bandits laying on the ground. "Oh you with her, Becky? We will see if they need medical attention."
Becky jumped and looked over. "Eep! SnowCuties.. SnowCatCuties is her name, we better go see how she is!"
Snow was there, hand on her shoulder and grimpsing in pain, the arrow now removed.. "God that hurt, but the main thing is I got the arrow out I think. Can you look for me?" She turned to let Becky and John look.
"We can patch it up," John said. "But you really need to see a doctor soon. You shouldn't be moving with a shoulder injury like that."
"Oh it'll be ok. Better get moving before more arrive, just see if anyone has anything useful first." Snow started looting some of the dead bandits, picking up things and even some random trinkets that would seem useless.
Once all was looted and piled onto the trailer, Snow asked, "Anyone know how to ride one of these?" She pointed at the bike. "I can ride with my shoulder like this but I can't say it will be easy."
"Yeah, get to that silly town so you can get straight to a doctor!" Becky said, sounding worried. Sherri and Goblina nodded in agreement.
"Ok well let's get going, If you can fit on the trailer you can sit on it." Snow invited the rest to travel with her.
"No thanks," John said. "We have our horses, but are you sure you'll be okay driving? Maybe you should let Becky drive for you."
"Hmmm," Snow made a funny face and whispered to John, "Would you trust her to ride it?"
Becky responded in a completely serious tone, "She makes a good point."
"Suit yourself," answered with a shrug. "See you in town."
With that, Blackeagle mounted the horses and set for town. When the others were aboard, Snow slowly drove with them.
Told ya there is a lot going on.
This is also where SpaghettiGirl officially becomes known as Luna!
It was really cool working Blackeagle and Sp- er, working Luna into this story. The plan is for me to eventually go back to her old pieces under her old name- and add a note about how she eventually becomes known as Luna. The name change was kind of important for the handler and it'll be interesting to see where it goes from here!
The voter commented on how surprisingly well SnowCat blends into my Becky & Goblin stories. Adding Luna and Blackeagle to the mix gives us a wider mix of styles but I think they work together pretty well honestly. No awards won on this one - but it's very cool to see another four-handler co-write. It wasn't easy getting this piece together since we never had more than a couple writers at one time but I think we did okay.
Plus it sets Snow up to meet a certain doctor, as you'll see. Just two more pieces before the Finale starts!!
