Coffee Break
Mission:  Transision mission: mafia town
subtitle: Wildfall, Todd, Catt and Jen plot & plan

Posted by Wildfall
Original co-write

This is the only four player character co-write this mission, the only co-write with more than two handlers, and the only co-write not to feature Alys and Wildfall.

Not a lot of action but it's good!

If you didn't mind an occasional fight, or outright battle for your life, the plains around Degrassi Knoll really could be a decent place to go for a jog.

Luckily for Jalrsboris Wildfall, the Ireacan was quite gifted at avoiding and dodging problems. Plus there nothing got his heart pumping and mind clear like a good run of a few miles. After dealing with a couple stray thugs and an angry bugbear, Wildfall's jog took him back into South Degrassi. His muscles were starting to strain. Good. He'd need to push himself with everything going down lately.

Wildfall closed his eyes and immediately the recent battles came to mind. Both the Elite 7 and 8 battles as well as the recent issues with the slavers, who had proven to be a thorn in Wildfall's side since he got to the Kingdom.

I've gotten into entirely too many oversized battles since I got here, Wildfall thought to himself. Thankfully, the last two weeks had been quiet. After being completely out of his league for most of those big battles, he'd needed the time to let his nerves settle.

Wildfall leaned back, resting and taking the fresh air in. Just the faintest scent of Gnollish bakeries and coffeehouses in the distance. As he lay there the scents became stronger, until when he lazily opened one eye he found himself staring at the bottom of a hot, steaming cup of coffee! Connected to that was a furry paw which was in turn connected to a furry Bard smirking down at him.

"Piping hot cup of coffee right over my head, huh?" Wildfall opened up his other eye and cocked one eyebrow. "Someone sneaks up on you and that drink is gonna end up all over me, ya know that part right?"

"After all we've been through? A little Degrassi Dark would be a relief!" Todd chuckled as he handed the cup to Wildfall and sat down himself with his own cup and a pastry he didn't seem eager to share.

Noticing it, Wildfall smirked. "Where's mine?"

"Still in the shop, waitin' on your money."

"Hmph!" Wildfall protested. "Damned loopholes. So, are you doing the Seaside Town thing?"

The fox shrugged. "Dunno, can't just do it alone. Figure I'll see how things fall out then decide."

Wildfall nodded. "I'm not sure how I feel about working with the penguins, honestly. Then again, I think we're better suited to outsmarting them than attacking them, don't you think?"

Todd shrugged. "Penguins aren't so bad, if you know how to play their game. I've done work at joints they run before."

Wildfall sipped his drink. "They ain't half good, either. Plus working in a bar for 'em ain't quite the same as doing a job for them, right?"

"Dunno, I decided not to push my luck by singin' off key. You know?"

Wildfall smirked as his eyes wandered to the distance. "Tough bosses, huh?"

Todd chuckled. "Only if you piss 'em off. Then they give someone else a job- like breakin' your legs."

Wildfall nodded. "I suspect it would be in our best interests to look at that as a healthy, pro jobs stance huh?"

Todd snorted, having nearly taken a sip of coffee before. Luckily he stopped before the spit tale. "You could put it that- WHOA!" The bard ducked, barely dodging the striped figure as it crashed into the clearing and leaped over him, taking the landing with a roll and scurrying to get away from a pursuer!

Wildfall shot to his feet, solid oak shillelagh appearing in hand almost as if by magic. "Da Hey Daze?!"

A woman chased the tiger. Dressed in black - a very form-fitting and tight black - she ran with a speed equal to his, her tail whipping about behind her. She paid no attention to the two men, even as they armed themselves. She leapt and pounced like a panthress catching her prey as his claws scrabbled to gain purchase on the cobblestone. "Ha! Got you!"

Wildfall cautiously walked closer, dropping his weapon to the side. "Did ya lose him or somethin? Hi there Jen."

Cattaras Whiteclaw looked up from where he and Jen lay, not looking that displeased with his plight. We won't mention where his paws were at the moment, but the elf didn't mind. She pressed kisses to his lips.

Todd just smiled as he sipped his drink.

Wildfall fidgeted, eyes shyly turning away. "Cattaras.. Are you gonna help the penguins or slaughter 'em? I'm not sure I'd wanna be on the opposite side of either."

It took the tiger a moment to answer, a moment filled with that kiss from Jen as well as a few grinds and gropes that even had the bard fox who'd seen it all wanting to say 'get a room'. But, when it happened Catt looked at Jen and purred. "What do you want?"

"Just curious if you were heading to Seaside Town," Wildfall asked. "Did ya see the meeting, Jen?"

"We were a little… " Jen paused for a moment. "... busy at that time. Could you quickly go over the situation?" Jen asked.

"Busy…. Riiight." Todd said with a grin that was a bit too wide. "Don't worry, beautiful. I was kinda… distracted myself- and I was AT the meeting! Somethin' about a parley with Penguins."

"Um.. working with the Council and the Penguins, right?" Wildfall shrugged. "And promising to leave town if we help?"

"Why should we leave? I could take those tuxedo wearing birds all by myself, easy." Catt growled.

Jen nodded. "We should roust those penguins out from wherever they are hiding. My Queen values the good relations of the Council."

"But some of the Vikings," Wildfall started, "from the Blood Clan wanna take a different approach, go underground and attack them when the time is right.. That might be fun, too."

"Trying to sneak and betray is a foolish idea. Give penguins too much time, who knows what kind of curses they'll put on you," Jen said.

"Not to mention all that dirt in your fur." Todd nodded.

"Never heard of a penguin usin' magic, but yeah, I rather go the direct route." Catt growled.

"If we've learned anything about your world, love, it is that magic can come from very unexpected places." Jen said. Morlencir elves had no magic tradition of their own and no defenses against it, either inherited or acquired.

This surprised Wildfall. "So you think we should go against the Council?"

Catt shrugged as Jen watched the three sort it out. "Council sometimes has been just a big an ass as the birds."

Wildfall nodded in agreement. "Yeah but.. they are kinda the local government. And the penguins are tough birds. I'd rather work with them than those Vikings dudes. What do ya think, Todd?"

Todd nodded. "Like I've said I can work with 'em. Those viking guys keep lookin' at me like next week's hunt."

Catt looked deep in his Jen's eyes before answering, giving where his paws were a squeeze. "Okay, We'll do it."

This earned the "Best co-write" Bonus Points Award, by the way, with the voter complementing the beginning of the piece as well as praising the fact that all four had their own unique voice and quirks.

This is, however, all we see of Todd, Cattaras and Jen for roleplaying in this mission, but stick around cause Wildfall's in the next three.
