With the long shadows starting to fall over Degrassi Knoll, Wildfall and Todd Blackpaws had earlier decided they'd enjoy Degrassi for the night and set out the next morning.
Smooth.
Wildfall split up from the bard after making plans to meet up again later. While Todd tuned up his instrument, Wildfall headed straight for the bakery, knowing the night's dinner rolls would already be in the Gnollish oven.
"I used to be an adventurer like you, then I took an arrow in the knee," said a guard as Wildfall arrived.
"Really?" Wildfall answered without missing a beat. "Cause the last time I was here, you said you used to be a baker, until you dropped a hot pan on your foot."
"Brave man to tease the guards," replied an elf woman. She sparked a striking figure, lithe, dressed in leathers. Her green hair cascaded down her shoulders and she wrapped herself in a green cape styled like a leaf.
"Hey, listen," Wildfall said as he turned to the source of the voice, which is when he jaw dropped slightly. ".... whoa."
"Yes?" the elf asked. She munched on a sweetroll.
"Do you come to this planet much?" Wildfall shook his head. "Wait.. you don't look like the other space elves."
"Space elves?" the elf woman asked. Her hand fell to the pommel of her sword. "Explain."
"So, is that a 'no?' Alright.." Wildfall rested a hand on his solid oak shillelagh. "Explain what, exactly?"
"Nevermind. If you don't know, that's fine." The elf turned to leave.
"I know!" Wildfall pouted. "I kind of know. I even met one. Or three. They're.. um.. elves from space. Duh. Everyone knows that."
"Do you know where they are? I'm Alys, by the way."
"Good to meet ya, lass. Jarlsboris Wildfall. People mostly just call me Wildfall. And yeah, I know where they're at. I'm kind of a big deal here, if you're new to the Kingdom."
"I'm from the Distant Woods, and I heard about the space elves. I want to meet one. Where are they?"
"I.. don't know," Wildfall admitted. "But I know where they're going to be. Well.. where they should be. I'm supposed to meet them on the way to Seaside Town. Come with!"
Alys gathered up the rest of her purchases. "Sure!"
"Right after I buy me some," Wildfall said, turning to go in the store. "That smells fantastic!"
Alys simply waited for the man to finish his business. It wasn't long before they were heading out of town.
Short, sweet and to the point. There's just a hint of conflict here already. As it turns out, the next two pieces are the same pairing. The next one is a little longer, so I didn't double space it. It's also a bit more interesting, as the pair arrive in town.
