MISSION INFORMATION This is the out of character mission information and RP Notes for Holiday, possibly the most successful mission in AiL history, and the first and probably only winter holiday mission. MISSION INFO
Pieces missing notes:
Yeah, it's a holiday mission. Since time-wise, AIL is probably closer to Thanksgiving, I decided to have a special St. Boris Day's Feast hosted by Father Crimbo, who in KOL represented Santa Claus before Crimbo's untimely death. Here's how the mission goes down, timewise. 1) The last bits from the last mission, if any, play out via roleplay flashbacks. We know that St. Boris Day's Feast is coming soon. 2) At some point, it became public knowledge that in the days and weeks leading up to St. Boris Day's Feast, Father Crimbo would be touring the land, spreading cheer and handing out gifts. Where and when he goes, since he's magic, is open to interpretation. Maybe he could hand out food, candy, booze, or advent calendars. Note: Due to oddities with the way the KOL calendar works and the fact that AIL "time" moves much slower than real time, you only see Crimbo every few years game time, and even less frequently in AIL real time. We've never had a Crimbo yet. It probably comes only once every few years to AIL characters. 3) The event in the Rollover goes down. The evil creatures in it think the Feline Empire and KOKOL will be guarding Father Crimbo, but of course, they might be mistaken. It isn't explained why they expect that. It is implied their "former allies" IE our third faction might be involved. 4) The drunken loser in the Rollover is meant to be the future Uncle Crimbo, who goes out to warn someone about their evil plans in hopes of getting free booze. You might learn of the plot through him, or you might be out to guard Father Crimbo. Or you might be there simply for the party, or pass the festivities by chance. Some travelling princesses from Season 2 missions one and two might be with him. I'm leaving who, if any, up to us to decide as we play. 5) Either way, try to work in a few attacks from the enemies. I'll put a few links to help you understand how they operate here. The managers from Enter Hey Daze make their long awaited return here. They only showed up in the Finales part II and III. Here is a list of the four, and their inspirations, if it isn't obvious. I. This small mouse is basically a homage to Pinky and the Brain. His "Adventure Suit" is a knock of Pinky's "human suit." I guess. The Queen of Hate. Think Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland, probably with a little Wicked Witch thrown in. Dr. G Darth. Dr. Doom (Marvel Comics) combined with Darth Vader. (Star Wars) Obviously. Name has a joke reference to Garth Brooks, I guess. Hunk. Finally, a Hulk imitation which incorporates Fabio references. I'm not telling you who the skeletal figure is. There's information on Zedika Dark, the flipworld's Sebastian Dash under the general information on the Flipworld. He still has the flip versions of Vixen and Lapine under his control. Now, Vixen and Lapine themselves are also serving him! However, since they're PC's, talk to me if you're interested in using any of the four. Use Dark himself as you see fit. I'll probably try to fit him into my personal RP plans. Maybe. Linnea, the Scream Queen is KOL cannon, but note. This would be before any of the events listed there. Right now, Father Crimbo is still around. Anyway, use her as you see fit as well. Do as you see fit for the mission. Expect a deadline around the end of the year. Expect scoring information on the mission soon. Mostly, have fun with the holiday theme! If you can, though, I'd appreciate it if we can get some use out of the enemies for this game. I'll put up a discussion thread for the mission today. You can, of course, incorporate your own minions for them, or have them 'hire' out any foes that you want an excuse to fight. Let's throw in some twists and really go all out here! J/ Dash So again, RP Notes are here. I'll have a special extra post up soon, as well, concerning the Feline Empire. First of all, Becky and Goblina walk into the Harem Girl harem only to see a harem girl going down on Cattaras! They quickly take their leave. Later, Cattaras stops in to visit Becky, who's napping, and still feeling the effects of having a kneecapping stick slammed into her midsection in the last mission. Cattaras consoles her, but he doesn't know what Catrina's plans for Father Crimbo will be. He's also rather surprised to hear Vixen and Becky had a one night stand. In the end, they go to see the Queen. A separate piece saw Aleena's emotional goodbye. She took Dash and Konall to see the view of their own planet from space. We learn a great deal about Aleena's past and future. After she returns them to the ground, she takes Cyber Sunset to Honorburg at the very end, after saying goodbye to Dash and Konall. Konall is surprised to hear Dash had been married at one point in the past. This one is a must read. While reflecting on his time in the Knob Goblins, a strange letter is delivered to Sir Fumblies. Someone is trying to get his way blackmailing Fumblies into bringing Father Crimbo to Farnsworthy Tower but Fumblies has other plans to diffuse the threat. He sends Scaros to Seaside Town in order to bring Father Crimbo's tour by the outpost. After talking to Zeala, who shows a great interest in Scaros's relationship with Lady Goblin, Lady Goblin promises to give Scaros a chance to talk to Father Crimbo about Scaros's hopes for Crimbo to stop by the outpost. There's also a boatload of characterization goodies in this, so check it out! They end up attacking Becky Joy, who's heading to see Father Crimbo. Cattaras rushes to Becky's side to help her but when he attacks a large slaver, he finds the slaver had injected poison into his blood for the sole purpose of fighting off clawed opponents! Becky is about to destroy them with an insanely powerful snowstorm when they take her out with some kind of sleazy stench gas. (Which cold elementals are weak to in KOL.) A stranger (the debuting Lalucia) shows up with some friends, attacking the slavers. The initial attack is impressive. At one point, Lulucia traps slaver Xuin the Deranged under the ground, but he claws his way out and keeps coming at her, forcing her to run. One of Becky's Knob Goblins, Green, had ran off to try to get help. The fates of Becky, her three Knob Goblins, and Cattaras are left unknown. It was a difficult co-write, primarily consisting of a complex battle and the active participation of five writers. We beat up Black Paladin and his two minions, but in an unprecedented failing of our saving throws, Black Paladin somehow made off with Jen and Dash. Wildfall, Summer, and Tood reunite, and soon after meet up with Lalucia. After a brief conflict and sharing of knowledge they identified that Becky, Cattaras, Darson, Goblina, and Red were captured by Xuin and his gang, and have agreed to rescue them. Lalucia and her kobold friends (Kaolinita, Kvarca, and Skista) will be accompanying the more experienced hunters on this retrieval mission. In The Walk Back, Jen and Dash.. er.. walk back to the Elven ship after Paladin dumps them and speeds off. It's a talky piece that talks a lil about each's history and implies Jen knows most if not all of Aleena's history with Dash. -- Also... -- "To Save the Season" part 2 starts with Fahari and some annoying catgirls, whom I wrote. One doesn't like Fahari, but the other, with an annoying valleysque accent, takes to her. Wanting to help Fahari find the right outfit to seduce Fumblies with. Fahari sees and follows Green, who rushes by, looking for help. Green bumps into Fumblies's Brute, Bigus. Green tells Fahari and Scaros what happened with the ambush, which was in Lalucia's second piece. They decide they'll accompany Father Crimbo to Sir Fumblies, as was the plan. There, they plan to get Fumblies to help free Cattaras and Becky. A couple princesses, Ladys Goblin and Liona, will accompany them. Sorry if that was a lil jumbled. P.S. It helps if scene is not shown, and a character who sometimes babysits knows a 'Creepy Lullaby' or two... Zed Shinestone versus Zedika Dark: two combatants battle it out, one relying on remarkable physical abilities, while the other must survive by applying wit and tactics to the fight. The turtle-tamer wins - go Aesop's Fables! Also, without maiming (near call but prodigiously reminders that Zed had only his arms armored up and Zedika kept targeting said arms allowed for that smaller accomplishment). Important notes: somehow Zedika had knowledge that Sir Fumblies had killed the Goblin King (only just released, and was told at a secure venue); also Dark let slip that there were more than one assassin aiming for Sir Fumblies at present. With them bring free, Becky's showing the effects of her prison run; she's very down over what happened to her. Lalucia also shares her hurt feelings over Todd's unintentional teasing. It's a lot of good conflict and character development. Wildfall's here and there, too. They also focus on hunting food, getting water, and tending to the wounded and figuring how to best tend to them. The roleplay starts off with Zed being chased, and flashes back to the moments preceding the chase where Zed runs into the Queen of Hate. She is a little smitten by Zed's looks (not his pheromone charm as that effect no longer applies) and wants him to return to Hey Daze with her. This sounds like a horrible idea to Zed, and it establishes Zed's new weak point to manipulate - Hey Daze and dark magic are his brand of kryptonite. Zed tries to evade and defend himself, but eventually is about to concede to the Queen's forces when Sebastian Dash arrives with the space elves. Dash leaves the battle in order to join the forces protecting Father Crimbo, but the space elves rescue Zed and have no problem defeating the Cards of Hate. Finally, after another intense questioning by a space elf, Zed gets up to his usual raunchy behavior and convinces an exquisite lady elf to assist him in his time of need. Also up - Sassy runs into Dash again! He tries to get her to head north to Seaside Town. Dash then rides south, looking for Father Crimbo. Sassy follows. She's about to set up for camp at a stream - when she picks up on signs of a fight to the south! Check 'em both out. It's nice to see Sassy back. The two part Finale to Holiday is finally up! Even if it is past Valentine's Day and a Christmas themed mission but ohwell, it was worth the wait. It turned out to be an exceptional mission as well. Aleena left the planet, but brought in some replacement elves who'll have some big shoes.. er.. elven boots to fill. AiL's first ever holiday mission, too. I'm quite happy we finally pulled that one off. Wildfall, Sassy Snake and Summer are back on the scene as well! We also had three Elite 8 candidates for the mission although only one was chosen. Other highlights include Cameron's high quality holiday themed solos, Lalucia's impressive debut, and of course, the public revelation of Sir Fumblie's participation in the Knob Goblin King's execution. Characters like Fahari and Zed had probably their best showing so far in this mission as well and it was nice seeing AIL veterans like Cattaras, Sir Fumblies and Todd Blackpaws during this mission. Congratulations and a thank you to everyone who was able to participate. Anyway, let's get to the scores for the mission! Note: I'm going to include bonus points along with the characters whom they're being given credit to, so let me put a few of the voter's miscellaneous comments here. There were five single points awards and five two points awards. For the 2-point awards, the voter said, "I am putting a special limit on this, only award per rp. Otherwise, my voter's choice would dominate." Points are listed as Mission total (Plus bonuses in brackets). Finally, points are listed by mission scoring only without consideration for "presents earned." Winner: Congratulations, Sir Fumblies! The voter thought long and hard about it before deciding that Fumblies really 'brought it' this mission. His story set up and covered his revelation of his participation in the aforementioned Knob Goblin's death, to dealing with the ramifications of that. He also gets news of the kidnapped slaves and sets out to rescue them, only to run into Hunk and Dr. Darth from Hey Daze. All in all, he earned this one!
Awards: Voter's choice, two points each to Fahari and Fumblies: How to Prepare a Slaver 2.
Speaking of his goodbye to Aleena... Awards: Best Hero (1 point): Fumblies might have won this as the voter's comments will illustrate, but Dash takes the point. Congrats to me! Voter's comments: '"Dash. Now, let me justify this real quick. Fumbles may have snagged himself top voting this week, but he isn't a hero in my eyes. He is a man (well, half orc) who wants greatness and would do anything in his power to get it. He has made mistakes, and quests to redeem them, but his motivation isn't just being selflessly good, and that plays to his strength. Dash on the other hand, quests for the sake of adventure, and protects people because it is the right thing to do. That is a hero." Most dramatic moment - The ending of Goodbye, Loathing. two points each to Konall and Dash. I'm very proud of this moment and the entire co write with us and Aleena. Voter's comment: "It wasn't over the top, didn't force anything. It was just a depressing scene of two people who had been through a lot coming to terms with things." Dash's total: 19 (+1+2) = 22 points. Coming in third is Fahari! She's been mentioned for best co write. I believe this is Fahari's best showing in a mission to date. She started out as basically fodder for Live RP's. While Live RP's have fallen to the sideline, she's thrived and really come into her own. Voter Ichiro commented this is the first time she 'actually brought it,' which was a 'nice change of pace.' Her opening solo (which Kris and I helped with) carries through to some co writes with mission winner Sir Fumblies, whom she confronts on his participation in the execution of the ex Knob Goblin King. Even so, she still stands by his side. Congrats, Fahari! Awards Funniest Line, 1 point "I mean, you'll totally knock his breath out!" she corrected excitedly. "Oh." Fahari nodded wisely, then stopped. "Why would I want to do that?" Voter comment: "I am not sure what it was, but this line made me laugh, and hard."
Note: I take partial credit (but no points) as I wrote the Feline NPC's.
On the inside, Aleena changed the holographic displays to show the sights around them, making the walls of the ship appear invisible. It appeared to Aleena, Dash, and Konall as if they were standing in the middle of open space, or in Konall's case, on his knees throwing up into open space. "I thought you said you wouldn't get sick," said Dash. 2 points, Voter's Choice (favorite RP - How to Prepare a Slaver 2) As mentioned earlier, Ichiro felt they both brought their A game. Well done! They each earned two points on it. * Best solo writer, two points
Fahari, How to Save a Season (p2).
Points for Fahari 18 (+1+2+2) = 23 points Todd Blackpaws takes fourth! Two characters of yours in a row, Mitch! Congrats. Todd just squeezes forth place away from Zed. Todd comes in fairly late and manages to shine in three co writes with the so called slaver extraction team. He has confrontations with Lalucia and Cattaras, but mostly plays the support role he's most comfortable with, that of the snarky, womanizing but ultimately noble fox bard. Todd might be the ultimate support player in AIL in terms of PC's.
No Awards. Making him the highest ranked PC with none.
Todd Blackpoints: 17 paws.. er.. I mean...
Awards Favorite NPC, 1 point, Snow White Voter's comments: This was a tough one, but I think I am going to go with Snow White. Showing up repeatedly through the mission, Snow White managed to be a strong force when she showed up, showed us where she was sided, and was generally pretty awesome. Plus 3 more points for earning Elite 8 status All three of our Elite 8 candidates had their ups and downs, but ultimately the voter gave it to Snow White. As you'll see in the next award Zed earns, she really paid off big time! Voter added these lines on her Elite 8 status: "Snow surprised me, as I had never seen her before. In just a couple rps, she managed to establish backstory, motivations (yes, the two go hand in hand), and what type of character she was. She stood out this mission for the character she provided, which is a lot to say for an NPC." * Best fight scene, 2 points - Unfortunate Encounters, Snow White versus Zed. Voter comments: "Though it drags on a little, this fight scene was a ride from beginning to end. It helps that there was a new villian with new powers to show off." Best opening, Unfortunate Encounters. 1 point. For the poem. Voter's comments: "It was a very different opening, and was quite well done, setting the tone for the piece, as well as standing out." Zed's total: 16 (+1+3+2+1) = 23 points! Coming up next at sixth, newcomer Lalucia certainly earned her spot here! Even though she came into AIL late, she still managed to participate in some solid co-writes. She also debut a potential Elite 8 candidate, Davrom. She was at times confrontational and at other times a solid team player, but her actions always made sense. Ichiro says she came "out of the door swinging, keeping up with many of the best AiL has to offer." No small praise, Lalucia's handler! Awards Best RP twist, Lalucia comes to not quite save the day! Two points. I was quite happy with this co write in general. Good job, Lalucia. Voter's comments: "Lalucia coming to the rescue!... and not actually winning the fight. In a surprising bit of realism, someone trying to intervene and failing to be effective was a nice change of pace."
To be honest, we thought about having it enough of a distraction for Becky and Cattaras to escape. I'm glad we didn't go that route.
Lalucia's points: 15(+2)
Yeah, the Bearsmashers ended up tying. They did share a co write. Kadlin got another solo in at the end while Konall got his in early. Cattaras was actually pretty active. He kicked the mission off with Becky. He and Becky spent time time as prisoners to the slavers but were able to get free. Meanwhile, the Bearsmashers were pretty much holiday fun all around. Kadlin's last solo sets up things for the future. Awards * Best (worst) villain, 1 point, Kadlin Voter's comments: "We got a lot of what I would call antiheroes this time around, but the straight up villain who stood out the most was Kadlin. Yes, she stands right on that line of antihero and villain, but right now I am leaning more towards the villainy side." Most dramatic moment - The ending of Goodbye, Loathing. A heartwarming, down to earth finish by Konall and Dash.
Those are the last two award winners of the mission.
Points
Aleena: 13 points.
Tarval: 12 points
Still, pretty solid considering the competition this mission. Tied for 14th place, Becky Joy and Sassy Snake. They did better than their rankings indicate. Victims of circumstances, Ichiro said. Becky started off the mission but had no solo roleplays. Sassy, meanwhile, returns with an exceptionally good solo then goes on to meet up with Sebastian near the end.
Becky Joy: 11 points
Points
Finally, Raven ranks last. The character could very easily excel in a future mission, but for this one, Raven only showed up with the space elves, and other than the Space elf debut, I think raven was pushed to the background. Raven: 7 point debut. That's it! Let's take a look at the season so far!
That means the winner Sir Fumblies took 22 points as did Dash.
# 2 (tied): Aleena: 95 points. Aleena departs this mission, but she goes out as the current number two. Will we see her in the future? # 2 (tied) Sir Fumblies: 95 points. Fumblies is climbing up the charts thanks to a significant win here! # 4) Becky Joy: 86 points. Becky is still doing strongly as an overall top five player despite a low score this mission. # 5) Cattaras Whiteclaw: 69 points. He rounds the overall top five out and could easily climb in the charts.
# 6) Konall Bearsmasher: 63 points. The second ever character to have a bio, Konall should again earn his ranks the next mission.
# 11) Ozzie Whelk: 35 points. I hope we see more of him again, but I have no idea when that will be.
# 16) Lalucia: 17. Congratulations on your debut mission! 17 points is something to be proud of.
# 21 (tied) Vixen: 11 points. Used in the Finale but only as a NPC.
# 23) Dios: 10 points. Probably gone. Would have made an awesome pure evil.
# 28 (tied) Amrus. 1 point. Not seen since the sample mission- though I talk to the handler every so often.
That's it! J
MISSION points!
